Turano Pizzeria and Restaurant

We live within walking distance of this restaurant and thought (even though we’ve had a couple of inconsistent salads from there in the past) that we’d give it another try. Please don’t make this mistake yourself. I called the order in and was told it would be ready to pick up in 40 minutes; at this point the young lady @ the restaurant did take my name and phone number. Forty minutes later I went to pick it up only to find out that they had no chicken (the order was for chicken parm). OK — first of all what kind of restaurant runs out of chicken? Second, if you know you don’t have an item and you have the person’s contact information, and you know the person is coming to pick it up, how do you not call them? So. I arrive and how I find out there’s no chicken is that the person making the food (chef? owner?) just barks out, «NO CHICKEN!» The young lady who took my order was like, «No, this isn’t a new order, this is an order already placed,» and the guy repeated, «No chicken!» It was like being caught in that old SNL skit with John Belushi: No Coke, Pepsi! Except: a) there were no other options suggested, and b) it wasn’t funny. No one at the place even apologized for wasting my time and not letting me know that they couldn’t fill my order. As I was leaving the chef (?) yelled out, «More chicken in 10 minutes!» to which I replied a hearty, «No.» It was at that point, as I was exiting, that he called me a b! tch. Wonderful customer service, and a guaranteed repeat customer. Seriously do yourself a favor and don’t give this establishment any business.

My favorite thing was the spicy garlic shrimp appetizer, which was served with warm bread… FABULOUS! This is a charming BYOB place that focuses on their food (and luring customers in with Groupons). I really do like this place, and I hope that people start to flock to it. It is a diamond in the rough… I WILL be going back for more of that shrimp!

Had a groupon for this restaurant. what kind of pizza place runs out of crushed red peppers and Parmesan cheese. The bottom of my pastes boil was filled with water not sauce. they need to close. We will never go there again.
