This place is pretty much always packed and I suggest making an reservation in advance, unless you go before 5:30pm. As for the food… The bread basket they put on the table is excellent and enough to get filled up on, so be careful. My wife ordered the chopped salad for an appetizer and I ordered the lobster bisque. The salad was excellent, however, the bisque did not taste right at all, which our server credited us for. For our main entrées, my wife got the Chilean sea bass and she throughly enjoyed it– very tender, melt in your mouth, kinda buttery, but very delicious. I ordered the lobster mac and cheese as my main dish and I’m glad I did since the portion is ridiculously big. There weren’t many chunks of lobster in it, but was still decent, however nothing to ohhh and ahhh about. For desert we got the chocolate cake that comes with vanilla ice cream– but the amount of ice cream that actually comes with it, is equivalent to to 2 tablespoons worth, and the cake wasn’t even that good. Overall, our experience was nice, but the food in my opinion is not nearly as good as some of the other steak houses within a short walk or short drive.

I enjoy going in, through those big doors, to Chops. The hostesses always have a smile, and the gentleman that’s always up front makes you feel so welcome and special just by coming in. If I’m going with friends or coworkers, and I’m the first to arrive, he immediately offers a drink while I wait, or jokingly suggests a Tequila for two. He immediately puts a smile on everyone’s face. Once your party is complete(or the majority of it) you are welcomed to sit. Hostess escorts you to your table and immediately your assigned server is there ready to greet you and take your drink order. There has not been a server I have not liked here. They have all been friendly, attentive, and very welcoming as well. They offer A La Carte menu and also have a Pre-Fixed Menu for about $ 55. I have done both. The Fixed menu is good, when 1. You want to stay within a budget, or 2. You want the 3 course meal. I did this Fixed menu once and my experience was equally excellent as when ordering A La Carte. The Fixed menu offers several options for appetizer, main course and dessert. Drinks and gratuity are excluded. With the Fixed menu I ordered: Lobster Bisque(creamy and flavorful) Petite Surf & Turf. Steak was cooked perfectly, the lobster tail was fresh, with melted butter on the side, and perfect size to leave room for dessert. The Chocolate Soufflé Cake is rich and served with vanilla ice cream and was a very nice ending to my meal. Most of the time I do order A La Carte, main reasons are two of the appetizers not offered on the Fixed Menu: The Calamari and the Morsels of Lobster Tail. Even if you don’t order anything else you MUST try these. They are amazing! The Thai chili sauce on the calamari is addictive. Just a kick of spice and they are perfectly breaded. Same as the Lobster Morsels, these are so fresh, lightly breaded so they are not greasy and the lobster taste comes through. One order will not be enough, if you are sharing, believe me. The steaks here are equally amazing. Cooked to order, I’ve only seen someone in my party send it back once and that was enough to get it right, and they were very apologetic about it. You can have it with a list of toppings like blue cheese butter, and white truffle butter. I’ve also had the Steamed Alaskan Red King Crab, they come already cracked and easy to eat. As much as I wanted to finish them all, again, you can taste how fresh these are, I was not able to… They serve about 6 — 7 «merus» cuts, and with the sides, it was just too much. No, you will not want to forget the sides… These are served family style(to share), and my absolute favorites are the truffle parmesan fries(you really want to try these), and the Pure Creamless Corn Mash. The creamed spinach is also good. Another really good one I recently tired(it was a «special of the day») was the truffle mashed potatoes with crab meat. If you hear it in the daily specials, order it! Oh, and if they offer you a small salad, say yes! I used to say no but, never again. Lettuce, onions, garbanzo beans, egg, peppers, blue cheese, with light creamy dressing. We all really enjoyed it. They have full bar and a great wine list. Complimentary Valet also. This is a great place to bring clients, celebrate special occasions, date night, or a nice dinner with friends. Neither service or food will disappoint.

When I heard the restaurant that someone chose for my Grandpa’s 91st birthday I wasn’t happy. I called Chops VERY last minute and not only could they accommodate a party of 10 we were offered the private dinning room. Everything was amazing from setting up the reservation with Stephanie to our amazing waiters. We had the best experience which was just as amazing as the food. The waiter was extremely helpful in helping with our order and we couldn’t have been happier. Thanks for making it a night to remember.

The food is really great, no complaints. We had the filet and the sirloin. Best meat. However, you have to order your vegetables separately. All sides are extra. :( The bread pudding was good, the almond cookie and berries, totally boring. The service was excellent, as you expect when you pay such a high price. The reason it is NOT a 5 star restaurant to me, is that it is SONOISY you cannot have a conversation with the people at your table! We were in the back area, where the ceilling is made of tiles, terrible acoustics. Plus, the restaurant is too packed, and tables are too close to each other. So, since you have to yell to speak to the person across your table, everyone yells and the noise level is maddening! Chops, you can definitely fix that! The bill was $ 492 for 4 people(we had a bottle of Mondavi Cabernet), tax and tip included. Too much.

We went here last night for happy hour and had so much fun! I had the Berry-Licious Martini and the Salmon Caesar. Both were unbelievably good! Our waiter Ron was super nice and we had excellent service. I love this place and will definitely be a regular.

Came here last night to celebrate my mothers birthday. The lobster here is really good. The service is impeccable as one would expect from a 5 star restaurant. I have been here a few times already and its pretty consistent. Just thought it was a bit overpriced for what you get.

Marginal food with high price tag. I really expected more. The décor and ambiance are nice, but I would like a good meal to go along with that!

Out for a romantic dinner for 2… delicious food, great wine, good service. A little loud(probably the tiled ceiling) but will definitely return. A bit pricey!

Lobster bisque with the extra lobster chunks was AMAZING. Creamy and rich but with that classic lobster bisque tang, mmmmmm so good. The black grouper was a very nice piece of fish but it was supposed to be horseradish encrusted and you couldn’t really taste that, and it seemed to be sitting in a pool of chicken broth? Beef carpaccio was a nice sized portion but was definitely missing something — maybe some truffle oil or a few more shaves of parmesan or capers? Caesar salad with anchovies was the perfect combo of creamy and crisp. Bartenders were friendly and the martinis were delicious.

My wife and I celebrated our 9th Wedding Anniversary in November 18th and decided to have dinner here. We made our reservation 1 week prior and we arrived 20 minutes earlier, the staff was very accommodating and was able to find us a seat even though we arrived a lot earlier than our reservation time. Our waitress was wonderful!!! Our waitress was very attentive, professional, courteous and went above and beyond. The food was spectacular from the drinks all the way to the desert. They offered a wonderful and plentiful variety of appetizers, amazing entrees and amazing deserts. Everything to make your mouth water and satisfy your palette. Portions were amazing, not small portions at all… You will definitely leave with a full stomach and a happy heart. We will definitely be returning in the future… The entire staff made us feel like we were royalty, valued us and gave us a presidential like treatment. Very impressed by this restaurant.

It’s always a bad sign when your blood pressure is higher leaving a restaurant than when you got there. Our experience tonight at Chops was infuriating for so many reasons, most all related to service. We walked in at 8 tonight and found two seats at the bar. The bartenders were on the opposite end chatting with each other and a good 5 minutes or so passed before one nudged the other to come over. She came and stood in front of us without saying a word. Finally she asked«what would you like?» And we ordered drinks. She brought them. Then zero interaction for a half an hour. Another man sat next to us and it took them over 10 minutes to come greet him. Finally we flagged down the bartender(who after disappearing for about 10 minutes absolutely reeked of cigarettes) and asked if we could order something. «Sure» she said… And placed napkins in front of us, and plates and menus, but NEVERCAMEBACK to ask what we wanted to order. Now it’s 8:45. We finally get the other bartender’s attention and we order some appetizers and another round of drinks, since our first round had long been empty. The food was fine. Shrimp cocktail was good, but way better at other places… Crab cake and lobster bites were good, but nothing I’d go back for. At this point, we just want to go home. All told we were there close to two hours for appetizers and drinks because of the slow, distracted, unprofessional service. The bar was so dirty, and when I walked to the restroom, I could see service trays piled with dishes throughout the place. Sorry, that doesn’t happen at Houston’s or Morton’s. They could do well to visit both places to see what good service looks like. Also, the bathroom was gross, with dirty stalls and toilet seats coming off their hinges. We will not be back.

Love this restaurant! Had the thai calamari, crab cakes and lobster mac and cheese. It was amazing. Hubby had the petit surf and turf where lobster was flash fried. I tried some and it was outstanding. The service was impeccable. Staff very friendly. Overall ambience was good. Definitely one of my favorites!

I eat out 14 times a week, all over the U.S. I think it’s time to start giving honest feedback; helping others make informed dining decisions. We had a drink in the bar, then ate dinner in the dining room. +Monroe, the manager, couldn’t have been friendlier. Accommodating 2 seats at the bar, on a Friday night. Allowing us to enjoy 2 cocktails, before dinner. +Bartenders are friendly, but can’t/won’t craft their own cocktails outside of the menu. Still tasty. +Wagyu ‘Snake River’ steak was just OK. +Lobster Mac & Cheese is outstanding. +Crab cakes were very good. +Service was 5 star +Fantastic wine list +The crowd is definitely older. 65+ +Valet available +Expect a large bill, but it’s a very good experience. Overall Grade: 93% out of 100% I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Finally I decided to write a review about my experience at this restaurant… I used to love coming here for a big lobster tail and a nice filet. One night I ordered my usual lobster tail broiled, it was much smaller than usual and it was extremely salty as the chef dropped a saltshaker on my lobster, but I was starving so I started eating some of the lobster but it was too salty to eat(I had my Boyfriend tried it and even he said it was too salty, he loves salt and he always dump extra salt on everything…) so we told our server about it, but he didn’t believe us and he made a comment saying I ate the most of it, but I wasn’t asking for a free meal, I just wanted to let the kitchen know that the lobster was too salty and inedible and ruined my lobster, but our server said he will let the manager know, No! We wanted the kitchen to know! And the server came back and said we will give you«one» dessert on the house, only«one» dessert? The lobster wasn’t cheap it was about $ 60 at least! He didn’t even offer us to take it off of the bill either! But he ended up giving us one more dessert, so we each got one dessert, however he needs more training for customer service, this is supposed to be a 4 star restaurant, we were coming here quite often and the maitre d knows us here, but our server made me feel really bad and feel like I was lying to get a free stuff. Anyway this was very disappointing, but I wanted to give another chance so we went back few times after this incident, but every time we went back, the food wasn’t great, I had Japanese Mastuzaka beef onetime here, it was very pricey, I’m from Japan, and I used to have this beef when I was in Japan, it is fantastic and one of the best beef in the world, but another disappointment, it was different from what I had in Japan, very fatty and wasn’t good at all… Last time I went back couple of weeks ago, I had warm spinach salad(used to be my favorite), but it only had a couple of pieces of bacon and mushrooms, I barely tasted them and the portion got smaller, and my fish(black cod) was very small and burned, they said it’s the caramelized miso glaze, but it had the burned taste, it was«burned» not caramelized(but this time the manager came and he offered me another fish or take it off of our bill)… Also filet was kind of tough not tender as used to be… Another disappointment… But I love the bread, their bread is always consistent. Hopefully they will bring the quality of food back up and keep it consistent, because I do like coming here…

Wow. I will drive to Boca for this. I’m from Miami. plenty of good steak houses around me, but I think this is my new favorite. I came here for a work dinner, and my client picked the place. I’ll tell you why it was so great. First off, they have a nice outdoor lounge seating area so go ahead and take a seat if you got there super early like me. Or, go in and grab a seat at the bar. Happy Hour is until 7 and the drinks are perfectly, plentifully, and deliciously poured. Score! I didn’t eat at the bar, just drinks there for me, but everyone else was and seemed plenty content. My apple martini(errr two) were pretty delicious! Next, head to the hostess stand and get a table. the service here is fantastic, from the hostesses, bar tender, waiters, manager. everyone I came in contact with was fabulous. Am I really still in South Florida? Incredible. I didn’t realize people could be this nice down here(maybe it’s because they’re a block from the water!) To start. The bread is pretty good — I ate the rolls with garlic inside(yum, why didn’t I think of that?), and the person I was with ate the one with raisins, which she said was amazing. We then ordered the Caesar Salad and the Flash Fried Lobster Morsels. The Caesar was delicious, perfectly dressed, and surprisingly I really like the touch of anchovy(though you can get it without, it wasn’t fishy!). The Lobster morsels were great and came with their own dipping sauces. Next time I’d do the lobster tail rather than the morsels(less breading). For Dinner, I ordered the filet mignon. I was going to order Rare Plus but they recommended 1 level up because the waiter said they slightly under cook so I went with a Medium Rare. Holy moly, I ate the whole thing(this never happens). The seasoning and the way they cooked it was absolute perfection. It is honestly, hands down, the best seasoned and cooked steak I’ve ever had. I applaud that Chef! Fabulously crispy and salted outside, great texture with a lovely red center. Unbeatable. My client had the sea bass which looked amazing. it came on a bed of cooked spinach. Neither of us left a single bite on our plates(and these were good sized portions!). For the sides we had mushrooms and brussel sprouts. I’m not a big mushroom fan so I didn’t even try them, but she liked them. The brussel sprouts were great. Lastly. Dessert. This seems to be a weak point. We only ordered 1 so perhaps we’re not good judges, but based on the fact that we didn’t leave a single bite of anything else and left more than half of this means something is up. I was hesitant to order a soufflé here to begin with. I love soufflés. I can make them at home, and I really only have 2 places where I order them without concern. Most places toss the word soufflé around way too loosely. as they unfortunately did here. What they served was a lava cake. big disappointment, but oh well, not why I came. They have a great happy hour menu with drinks and food, and a great 3-course meal menu($ 54). I highly recommend this place and I WILL be back! Thank you Buckhead Restaurant Group for this true gem in South Florida.

Enjoyed the food. I loved the live music, as we were tucked into the bar, having no reservation and looking less upscale and less 80-something than the rest of the guests. It was still quite comfy. The wait staff is completely chaotic. We had a lovely lady whose thick Eastern European accent was not off-putting, but her understanding of English compromised the order a few times, and finally an already overburdened waiter had to step in for her and fix things. I would drop it two stars for the amount of chaos and the price at which they sell that chaos, but the live music was a win, so up one it goes. No WiFi makes it hard to leave reviews, but most of the people dining in there are of the age where they probably use the telegraph machine at the back near the pay phone.

Chops Lobster Bar is an upscale dining experience. The décor is warm and inviting with an amber tiled ceiling and dark banquettes. I found it amusing that the Maître D told us what a great table he was giving us when it ending up being in the middle of the room, very close to other diners. Next time I would reserve the much roomier banquettes at the edge of the dining room. We enjoyed the food very much. Was it one of my favorite fine dining establishments? Probably not, but it is better than many other steak houses I have eaten at and is good enough to earn a solid four star rating. I started with with the Flash Fried Lobster Tail. This was an incredible tasting morsel. I just wish there was more of it! Husband started with his usual Caesar Salad. I loved that the salad had a poached egg on top. Husband thought the dressing on top was a little bland. For mains husband ordered the 12oz filet. As far as steaks go, he gave it a four star rating. I ordered the Hong Kong Duo: Scottish salmon and Chilean sea bass with spinach in an Asian broth. I bit into the sea bass and decided to send it back. The sea bass was way too hard and flaky; it was not melt in your mouth, butter soft… the way really good Chilean sea bass should be. There was no way I was going to settle for mediocre food in this fine restaurant! Our server graciously offered to get me another dish and I chose the Sautéed Scallops with Risotto. This was a great improvement. The scallops tasted very fresh and were not overlooked. The slight saltiness of the scallops was nicely balanced by the sweet sauce it was sitting on top of. The arborio risotto was fairly flavorless. Overall the service at Chops was impeccable. I believe there was a team of three taking care of our table and there was always someone near by in case we needed anything. I also liked the variety on the menu. Although the name of the restaurant is «Chop’s Lobster Bar», the place is more like the area’s top steak houses. However, Chop’s has much more to offer than just steak and lobster. There is a raw bar and many interesting fish entrees to choose from. I can see why this place was packed on Saturday night! Next on my list… the Fort Lauderdale location!

Me and the BF came by for a pre-dinner bev. We were expecting to walk into a very uppity boca type place and while it is a very high class resturant, we came unexpectedly during happy hour. They have a happy hour EVERYDAY(aka my favorite thing ever) from 4 – 7. Joyyyyyy!!! The bar seats were full but those had lounge type couches and chairs at front that were empty so we got a couple glasses and hung out, outside. I was pleasantly surpised at how busy it was inside and noisy. Bustling with peeps chatting and a musician was setting up. Definitely a place I will do back to but my wallet can probably only deal with happy hour for the time being!
