I loved this place! We went early on a Saturday night, and received the best service. Phoebe is a great new addition to the team, and the food NEVER disappoints. The pork belly, the duck tacos, the chicken and waffles… Anything you choose will be awesome. Wish you were closer to Miami though ;)

Went here for a friend’s birthday and man, it was way out of our way(we live in Miami) but it was so worth the drive! Our waiter/host«Pasta» was THEGREATEST example of customer service imaginable! He was so passionate about every cocktail and knew every detail of the food and make excellent recommendations and even took the time to learn each of our names — we were a party of 15! I wish I remembered the names but I would definitely recommend the margarita that has crushed pepper in it. Such a interesting and flavorful twist on a traditional margarita. And the vodka watermelon drink was phenomenal as well. Kind of dangerous since you can’t taste the alcohol, you can easily have a dozen of those! As or the food, the pork belly appetizer was a great choice. It was buttery soft and would just melt in your mouth. We also tried the bacon fondue and gator ceviche, which were a wonderful combination of flavors. Looking forward to going back soon!

What a GREAT night of food and drinks! We celebrated Fathers Day with«Pasta» as our waiter. We were a party of 8 with only 2 of us ordering separate dinners, and the remaining 6 ordering various menu items to share. My husband, who ordered the JerkB practically licked his plate clean, as did my father who ordered the burger. The rest of us thoroughly enjoyed a wide range of dishes from shrimp and grits to pork bellies to alligator and more. All were delicious, but my fave was a cheese fondue on toast. Yummy! And because our pallets craved even more, we ordered the fried Oreos for dessert… heaven! The best, however, was when Pasta brought a chocolate ice cream and banana dessert to my dad from somewhere else since my dad only likes chocolate ice cream. Now that’s service! I will definitely be back to enjoy a delicious cocktail:)

Waiter was helpful and friendly Atmosphere on par for a gastropub — Kale and Brussels sprouts were recommended against our will but surprisingly delightful. However it was supposed to come with andouille sausage and it literally only had 2 small pieces the size of peas — elbows and pork. Basically Mac n cheese. Not bad. Decent as a side dish but not worth $ 12 — chicken roti — unimpressive. Lacking flavor. Flat bread texture totally didn’t work as the ‘roti’ — goat pot pie — very disappointing. Mainly unflavored mashed potatoes and corn. Very little meat. Instead of a nice flaky buttery pastry which is the whole point of a pot pie I got thin cracker like oily biscuit. Very meh

To call this place a gastropub is disrespectful to ANY other legit gastropub in the world. Undercooked food and overpriced($ 20) beer. You got that right $ 20 for ONE beer. Blood coming from fried chicken is normally bad. They seem to think it’s not such a big deal.

What a great experience! A friend recommended but some Unilocal reviews almost steered me away. Glad I went! Waiter, Corey, was very attentive and gave great recommendations. He forewarned is at the beginning the experience was meant to relax, linger, and enjoy good food and company. In other words, the owner/chef prepares and cooks all food so it will take some time for food to be served. That was no problem because we were out to have a good time. Mushrooms and burrata:. Brussels and kale:. Whole snapper special:. Bobby, the bartender, mixes delicious, potent drinks which my husband absolutely relished. Must try: Absinthe lemon, Up in Smoke. This is a fantastic place I hope will be around for a long while because we plan to return w friends who we know will love it. Please give it a try!

Close your eyes and randomly pick anything on the menu. It’s going to be bomb! Beef of the day preparations; wow. Just wow. Chef is on another level. Sit at the bar and watch Bobby master his craft. Drinks are lovingly mixed with house infused syrups and extracts. All in all, food, drink, music, staff, décor come together to make this establishment unique and outstanding. Will be back. Again and again.

If you are craving tasty, unique food and you think this menu might fulfill those needs, please think again. I hate to leave a bad review, but wow, this was probably one of the worst meals I have ever experienced. I’ll first start out by saying, the waitstaff certainly tried hard, but they were understaffed. Ultimately, it all comes down to the food. We ordered the Crawfish Hash and Duck tacos. Both looked and tasted as if the chef had scraped the bottom of the grill, threw in some all-spice and served it on the plate. Perhaps they need more lighting in the kitchen. Maybe they need to check the chef, but whatever it is, they need to change.

Found this place by chance today. Luckily they were open, trying out Sunday brunch. Our waiter, «Pasta» was great. Granted, we were the first customers of the day, but he had the right blend of attentiveness, humor, food knowledge and sarcasm to make our brunch enjoyable. The food: f-ing incredible. Not for those who want the same old, same old but if you have an adventurous palate, you need to try GG. Wife had shrimp and grits, I had poached eggs on braised goat hash. Wow!!! After we ate, we sat at the bar and talked with the chef for awhile. Nice guy with a great passion for what comes out of his kitchen. We will definitely go back for dinner. A cool, different place that offers up meals you probably haven’t had before but worth every penny!

I should qualify this review by saying that this place is –in my opinion– 5 stars for what it is. I’m not much into cocktails and I’m not used to paying $ 12 for a drink, but this is to be expected from a gastropub in the heart of Mizner Park. The cocktails tasted great and were prepared nicely, but were probably somewhat wasted on my prole palate. However, the bartender and waiter really made the night a special one. My waiter and the bartender were both passionate about their crafts, and each dish and cocktail was meticulously prepared. I highly recommend this place if you’re hankering for good quality food, and you’re not in a hurry. –I don’t remember the staff’s names unfortunately. Bartender had curly brown hair in a bun, a beard, and glasses. Server was a new guy with maybe 2 days of experience there. I’m not sure how he managed to memorize all the food items so quickly.

I have visited this restaurant twice now. The only reason I give two stars and not one for this review is solely because the food both times was phenomenal. Here we go. So, my wife and I visited this restaurant back in August. The first time we went there both the restaurant and bar areas were completely packed. I was actually surprised we got in without a wait. The food was excellent and the service was on par. The owner even came out to speak with us while we were there which I thought was an especially nice touch for new patrons who had never visited the restaurant before, especially when they were so busy. So naturally, when we had an opportunity 3 weeks ago to visit again for a friends birthday party we were excited. So on our second visit we show up on a Saturday night around 9 pm as part of a reservation for 10. Other than 2 people at the bar the place was completely empty. I thought this was strange for a Saturday night but didn’t think much of it since the weather was kind of crummy. So everyone in the party finally shows up about 9:15 or so. Here’s where the problems started. First off we were told by the waiter that it would be too hard to split checks between 10 people because it would take too long and that we would all order and he would split the check 10 ways(which really its 5 since it was 5 couples). I thought this was ridiculous but it wasn’t my party and I didn’t want to make a big deal so I went along with it. I also thought it was just down right lazy. Right off the bat I was not impressed with the waiter. Later someone complained and we all ended up having our own checks. Second, we ordered drinks and the waiter disappeared for like 15 minutes. Strange since there were only 2 people at the bar being taken care of by the bartender. He came back finally without drinks(water or otherwise) and took our appetizer orders. We also asked for water for the table which came quickly. About 20 minutes later the alcoholic drinks had still not arrived but the appetizers began coming out. The table inquired about the drinks since the appetizers were coming first. The bartender came over and said that the waiter had not put in the drink orders and that he was doing so that moment. About 10 minutes later the drinks finally came and the waiter didn’t even know what drink was what. Several in the party got the wrong persons drink and 2 drinks came out that weren’t even what people had ordered. It eventually got fixed. at this point most of us had been there over an hour and had just gotten the appetizers and drinks. The table kept asking the waiter if we could put in the food order and he would make an excuse as to why he couldn’t take the orders yet. It seemed really odd. He also kept trying to make strange small talk with people at the table or would oddly stand there and stare once he finished doing something. He obviously couldn’t tell that people were beginning to get annoyed and we were making it pretty obvious. We finally were able to put in our food orders as the 2 people at the bar were leaving and a couple was sat at another table at the other side of the restaurant. Then we waited… and waited… and waited… After about 45 minutes we began asking about the food. The waiter told us that it was coming right out. about 5 minutes later it began arriving… One plate at a time. When one person finished, another plate would come out. After the third person finished one of the guests was sitting with his meal in front of him and asked if the other food for the rest of the party was coming because he felt rude eating when over half the table hadn’t eaten yet. The waiter appeared to almost get a little upset and told us that he thought he explained to use how it worked at this restaurant. Apparently, as he so bluntly put it, the food comes out when it comes out. Now at this point the other couple which came it and was seated as we were ordering is eating their dinner. Again the waiter repeated that the food comes out as it comes out and that this was a gastropub and that’s how they work. We all just kind of chuckled and the waiter left. We continued to eat one by one and finally finished. One thing that was really strange is that the waiter took it upon himself to modify my order by adding a fried green tomato to my burger. Turned out to be delicious but who modifies an order without asking? what if I was allergic to tomatoes or something? Anyway, dinner took over 3 and a half hours. This is all really disappointing since the food is really good. Some training for the waitstaff is necessary and it really seemed like they were cooking 1 meal at a time. If this is the case its utterly ridiculous. If a restaurant cannot handle a party of 10 then they should not be taking reservations for such. Needless to say, this all makes it likely that I won’t visit again unless I want to spend several hours at dinner.

I’m very conflicted about this review. I WANT to give them a higher rating. I really do. The concept is good. The staff is very nice. However there are just too many things to overcome. First, the outdoor patio area appears to be an afterthought. It’s in a nice location with good foot traffic, why not put in a little effort? Instead it looks like a staging area for some cool carnival themed restaurant with a few tables thrown in for fun. Second, it’s slow. Not in acceptable the kitchen is backed up kinda way. More like a you arrive it a good mood but after 2 hours you want to ear your own hand kinda way. The server did a decent job explaining that things are handmade and that it would take a little longer due to the handcrafted nature of the meal. OK. But that doesn’t explain why the bar is slow too. How much handcrafted effort goes into pouring bourbon over ice? Again the staff does what they can but the best server in the world can’t overcome this level of slow. It’s season and this place was not packed by a long shot either. Third, the food was decent. However they didn’t have many things listed on the menu. In fact, we watched a group of people come in and leave because they checked out the menu online and none of the dishes were there. The fried mashed potatoes were good. The absinthe prep was fun. The pork belly was good. We liked all the dishes. I learned that the owner is the sole chef in the place so that explains a LOT. From the slow food to the staff who do their best to overcome what I can only assume is his insistence that he be the only chef. Bottom line: There is a very similar style place right across Palmetto that gets it right. No long waits. Amazing food. What’s the motivation to choose the Goat? I can’t think of one. I’d be surprised if they make it through the summer.

The food and drinks here are amazing! The drinks are strong and reasonably priced and the food is a nice change. ***BIGDISCLAIMER!!*** DONOTCOMEHUNGRY! THEFOURSTARSISONLYINRELATIONTOFOODANDDRINK The service needs some major improvements, and be prepared to wait a very very long time for everything, way long even for a gastro! We had a nonserver server who was just kinda winging it and hung around a bit too much. Definitely worth checking out but expect things to get weird… **CHANGEDMYREVIEWTO3STARSAFTERREADINGSOMEOFTHEOWNERSRESPONSESTOPEOPLE. GUNNANEEDSOMETOUGHERSKINTHEREBRIAN** seriously after seeing that guys attitude we won’t be back, don’t like to support that type of garbage.

Looking at the menu, everything sounded soo good and creative that we got excited, but it turned out to be all style, no substance. The brussels sprouts were too oily, the goat was bland and uninspired, and the tacos tasted pretty good but were incredibly plain with no toppings. On top of that presentation was basically absent. Also, what’s with the ambiance? It definitely didn’t feel like a gastropub, it was too brightly lit and plain inside. The one table with couches looked so comfortable and loungy, but there was only one, or maybe two. On a somewhat positive note, service was very nice and the watermelon drink was fantastic despite being tiny and 70% ice. Two stars for effort, but I won’t be coming back here.

Had a great time with friends that were visiting from out of town. Cute little gastropub that has a long menu that features goat, lamb, pork belly and such gluttonous dishes. We ordered several plates, as it is meant to be all shared. The pork belly was good and i loved the fried mashed potatoes. It was all tasty but this is not a place for healthy stuff. It was all heavy, heavy but delicious! Nice selection of beers and cocktails but did not try their signature ones. It was not crowded for a friday night but i guess that is expected of the Boca crowd, goes out to eat early(older folks if you know what i mean)

Out for a date night with some other couples and we were seated at a nice large, round table at the far back left by the kitchen. The ambiance was casual and styling was a bit hipsterish. The menu changes seasonally according to the server, which has its pros and cons. Everyone started with mussels and shrimp(I’m not a mussels fan so no comments there) it was created into a tower with sticks so it looked pretty cool. I had the cucumber son cocktail which was served in a mason jar; its largely gin based so I totally loved it. For entrée, my date had the burger which he thoroughly enjoyed and I went for the skirt steak which was marinaded in cinnamon and chipotle, I ordered it med-rare and it was cooked just right. I honestly couldn’t taste any remnant of cinnamon, and it was yummy, but not blow your face of fabulous. It was sided with plantain fritters which were really the star of the plate, could have done with more than two. Then there was a large kale leaf which just confused me(too large to be garnish, too weird to eat by itself?). My friends had also steak, the goat leg — which everyone raved about, the sauce was very interesting and the presentation definitely the best looking plate. The others went for the desert list and I opted for another cocktail, choosing from the hardcore list which the server warned me off of… don’t tell me not to because I will. I chose another gin based cocktail called Ransom. It was herbally, had almost an undertone of kava tea, it was strong and totally a sipper; there was no knocking it back like pop. As for the deserts there was the s’mores, where a little tin can fire was placed in the middle of the table and a plate of crackers, chocolate, marshmallows and sticks were provided. It was definitely a hit for interactive food fun with friends, although I couldn’t stand the smell of the lighter fluid. The other desert was the banana tempora served with caramel and vanilla ice cream. That one I partook of and as a banana lover it was the bomb. I regretted not ordering it myself. Overall a great experience at the Gluttonous Goat, they could do with some beer on tap, not all bottled, I was expecting local craft beer on tap, and would love to see a cider there too. We’ll be back.

I was so disappointed :(I was really looking forward to trying this place. We had reservations at 845 and the hostess told us we didn’t(I pulled up my email from open table) then she said she didn’t know how those reservations work anyway. But she sat us right away. The drinks were delicious and different but took 15 minutes to come. For the appetizer we ordered the pork belly and it was delicious! Also a very nice size portion. It was tender and you could cut it with a fork. Then for dinner we got the skirt steak but it was more on the rare side than medium rare but that’s fine it was really good. For a side we ordered kale Brussels sprout dish. The other meal was the rib eye, it was a little over cooked but I can deal with it that. The first bite was super crispy and so was my second like just burnt crumblyness. We asked the waiter and he was like oh no it’s not supposed to look like that at all! The waiter immediately took it and they brought me another which was awesome. Once we were done we asked for boxes and the check but still had not received our side of kale/Brussels sprouts. The waiter didn’t seem surprised and took it off our bill. The food we had was really good but not worth all the aggravation for a fun dinner out.

See my original review below, but we will not be back. Brian, the chef/owner of this establishment, sent a comment via Unilocal, which also should appear below, which now makes me think Susan P.‘s comment about her experience with him might not be complaining out of turn. I was trying to be nice, something which many of my fellow Unilocalers rag me about because they think I’m too nice to most places. He tried pinning the«coupon clipper» thing on me to make my review seem like griping out of turn. I didn’t have a coupon at the first restaurant. It WENTOUTOFBUSINESS. My bad night began at Duck King, where I had a reservation for my son’s birthday. They turned out not only to be closed, but if the notices stuck all over the door from suppliers and some personalmessage taped there were any indication, there was either some sort of emergency in the family or they are no longer. So I called several places, all of which were booked up until near 10p. I did find a coupon on Unilocal for $ 10 off. I gave it to my server. I am now sending the $ 10 back because I want nothing out of this restaurant and its owner. I saw the great reviews, called, and found out that they could seat us. For that I am still most grateful. The food has promise with some adjustments to its delivery and how the plate is filled out. It is clear that it’s not getting there because of the guy at the top. Restaurants are like sharks: They have to keep swimming and evolving or they die. This is a shark on life support, in my opinion. Brian’s response, which bypasses most of the problems like the milk smell or the slowness of the service, just reinforces that things will not improve. My English teacher said you have to work just as hard at an F as an A. Same here in Unilocalland. Thanks for the reply Brian. In a town full of restaurants, it’s «buh-bye,» not«be-back» for this place.

Place was busy but we got seated right away at a small counter connected to the side of the bar. Main problem I saw was the lack of service. Let me add it was NOT the waiters fault. He was literally running around like a mad man and it seemed like he was serving a majority of the tables. Took about 10 minutes for me to get a vodka/soda. Appetizer: We started with the mashed potato bites(breaded mashed potatoes with cheddar and bacon). Order something else. Meal: Both of us ordered the«A Burger» and it came with pub chips which were actually like a sliced, fried potato(good). I was planning on ordering«the jerk» which was goat but they were out of it, only about 7:30pm so it must’ve been good, unfortunately I can’t say for sure. Once the food arrived it was also missing something(garlic aoli that was supposed to come on the burger) so I asked the food runner for a side of it and continued eating. About 3 minutes after I cleared my plate she showed up with the aoli(prob about 12 min). I’m a quick eater but kind of gave up on hopes of getting it after 2 minutes. Again, the place was busy so I wasn’t angered, just not satisfied. Burger was a medium rare as ordered. Had the service been better it would have gotten a solid 3 stars. Overall, a less than mediocre experience.
