We had lunch at True on a Saturday. I was looking forward to some good crab cakes and I got them. Golden brown, no shell, and super fresh. Awesome. We tried both the red and cream soups and they were outstanding. Mac and cheese was great with lots of cheese. My wife had the trio which included an amazing shrimp salad with some old bay seasoning and it had great flavor. We thought everything was very fresh and seasoned perfectly. All of the sauces were homemade and very good. Blue cheese dressing rocks. Great wine selection and bottled beers. The only bummer was they were out of 2 draught beer selections that I wanted. Our server made a good bottled beer suggestion that I enjoyed so I had 2! Our server was awesome and the food came out timely. We will definitely go back for a dinner run one night an enjoy the outdoor patio. A great find in downtown Boca.

The Devils on Horseback appetizer(bacon wrapped dates filled with herb cream cheese) was out of this world! The homesick soup(Maryland style red crab soup): unbelievable! My wife and I had the Imperial crab special which was also wonderful. My stepdaughter had the stuff shrimp and she loved it. We loved the casual atmosphere. The owner Frank and his daughter made us feel right at home. Such wonderful people and so friendly. I am allergic to many wines because of the sulfites(preservatives) that many of them have too much of, so we always bring our own wine(brands the I know I don’t react to). That night we also brought a bottle of Veuve Clicquot champagne, which is my favorite. The corkage fee is $ 15.00, but Frank has a great selection of wines as well if you want to buy from his stash. I recommend this restaurant to everyone!

We love True! The homesick soup is delicious and the crab cakes are the best around! We had the Taste of True for lunch which is a cup of soup, crab slider and side salad. We will be back!

I have been searching for the perfect crabcake since my husband and I moved to South Florida from the DMV(DC, MD, VA) 2 years ago. After reading several reviews, we decided to check out True. Upon entering on a Sunday evening we were welcomed by an amazing aroma and greeted by a smiling face. We ordered the crabcake entrees and were not disappointed! Everything from the housemade vinaigrette on the salad to the creamy mac&cheese were AMAZING! That very familiar Maryland crab cake flavor was distinct and on point! If you are searching for the perfect Maryland crab cake, look no further! True we will definitely be back… with friends!

We had the best dinner here on a rainy Friday night recently. Great service and DELICIOUS food. Definitely the best crab cakes I have had outside of Maryland. I am usually really picky about mac & cheese since I make it all the time and know how to make it exactly how I like it, and True’s mac & cheese was so good that it made me rethink all of my efforts. Would highly recommend this place!

This place is awesome. Don’t listen to those one star reviews down below. They are probably some crabby people. Get it crab! I’ll transition to the food. Amazing!!! Crab cakes delicious. Vegetable curry delicious. Chicken delicious. Desert great! And service great as well. Everyone is super nice and we had a 15 min conversation about recipes with our waiter. Just awesome. Definitely worth a try. This place definitely one of my favorite restaurants in boca raton.

Delicious little place with great Maryland crab sliders and chicken wings nicely seasoned. Nice service also. Wine by the glass only 6 bucks. 6 tables only and only one table for larger parties.

Maryland boy and the food was great. With six people and everyone enjoyed. We started with the shrimp with old bay and crab soup. Really tasty. We then shared a few crab cake platters and the brisket sandwiches. First the brisket was juicy and tender. As to the the crab cakes very good not much filling and cooked to perfection The owner came out and was very nice and certainly tacks pride in his food We will be returning

I lived in Baltimore for a few years and was skeptical about trying out this place. The food is soo good. And the ambiance is very nice too. The owner even came to our table to say hello. It really does feel like your typical mom and pop restaurant in Baltimore. It is pricey and its not the place to come if you are in a rush. You need to sit and enjoy your meal here! mac and cheese was amazing and so were the crab cakes. Oh and they had good wine that night too!

Went this week to celebrate my daughter’s graduation. We had a table for ten and everything was amazing. Natalie was an excellent server and everyone raved about the place and the food. My friend’s first words upon entering were«I’m never leaving, this place smells heavenly» — True really is one of the best places in Boca!

First time here. We started with«Frank’s Famous Cream of Crab Soup» now we know why is so famous! It was delicious! My husband had the«Tom’s Favorite Sliders» with mac & cheese and I had the«Bun penny» with Potato salad. Both were amazing. For dessert we had the chocolate cheesecake made by the owner’s wife and it’s the most chocolaty cheesecake I’ve ever had. The ambiance is great and the owner and his daughter were perfect hosts. This is our first time here but for sure will not be our last!

Food is really good, service is consistently bad though, servers rarely check on tables, or refill drinks, food takes long to arrive but good.

The service was as slow as snails. We ordered 2 soups, a pair of shrimp salad sliders & a side of mac & cheese. We got the soups after about 30 minutes & the sliders & Mac & cheese took another almost 40 minutes. In the end the soups were not worth $ 9 a bowl. The cream of crab soup had way too much old bay seasoning & the homesick soup which is Maryland crab soup was good but not great. The shrimp salad sliders were very good but not worth $ 12 for 2. Maybe $ 12 for 3. Frankly my girlfriend makes better Mac & cheese. So at $ 4 a side this Mac & cheese was not worth it. We had to request water 3 times. That’s how inattentive our server was. No reason for us to go back. We have had much better food that’s worth its value a lot closer to home. Now don’t get me wrong. I am far from cheap. I will pay $ 250 for a meal and not care as long as I’m getting food & service worth the price.

We happened on this place when we were in Boca early evening… for a change… and used the great Happy Hour to test out the menu. Crab was prominent although the Devils on Horseback(stuffed dates wrapped in bacon) absolutely rocked… but not until I got to the last bite… the«Bun Penny»…a melt in your mouth«meat ice cream l» brisket slow roasted with peppers, cheddar and deliciousness… did I slip into a food coma! Oh yes! Get there immediately if not sooner… Boca has been begging for this. .and watch for the next Steamed Crab Night on the patio!!!

I had lunch at True today. We were the only table in the place for our whole lunch. We ordered the cream of crab soup and the crab cake sandwich which comes with one side. I had the cole slaw and my aunt had the Mac and cheese. The soup was outstanding. Served hot from the kitchen and was loaded with jumbo lump back fin crabmeat. The crab cake that followed was just as special. Generous lump crab, just enough filler to hold it together. The coleslaw and Mac and cheese didn’t disappoint. Living in an area of the northeast that is only a 45 minute drive to northeast Maryland, where woody’s is the crab cake King, True would certainly give them a run for their money. Cody was a very attentive server. He knew the answers to all our questions. I can’t imagine why they didn’t have a busier lunch, cause it was the best crab cake I have ever eaten in Florida.

My husband and I went there for dinner. This place is a hidden gem and I’m surprised more people weren’t there on a Saturday night. The staff is very friendly and the food was amazing! We ordered the dates to start off with, just a heads up, they are smaller than normal but still amazing in taste. I had the crab cakes with green beans and macaroni and cheese for the sides and my husband had the crab stuffed shrimp with mac and cheese and potato salad. The food here is a great portion for the price and the food is very tasty. The owner even came to the front to say hello to everyone which was nice. We will be back.

This place is so cute and quaint! A true hidden gem came in for lunch and had the crab cake salad… delicious! And he gave us a free sample of the crab chowder which was so good! This place is definitely yummy and worth a visit!

This place was a great random find for lunch. My girlfriend and I make it a point to find the best food, especially hidden gems. Frank’s crab cakes are claimed to be the«best crab cakes south of Baltimore». As an avid foodie, I found them absolutely wonderful, truly True-to-form, delectable, lump blue crab cakes. We had a nice wine pairing with them, excellent service from Cody, and Frank himself came out to greet us. Top notch. If you find yourself in Boca Raton, make this one of your stops! #eatwelltraveloften

Nope — Eastern Shore boy here, grew up on crab — and oysters — have my wife making premo crab cakes in Boca, this place was a disappointment and looked very underfunded — it has been a while since I’ve been there however. I would not go back after the first time, sorry.
