Best martinis I’ve ever had! Definitely try the Ginger-Lemongrass martini, Poinsettia and Main Street Mocha. Got to meet a lot of the staff and all of the girls were super sweet and outgoing. Can’t remember our server/bartenders name so I’ll be going back in this weekend with friends to find out so you can ask for her. She recommended the Main Street Mocha which was phenomenal! Also, I have a few comments on these 1 star reviews. To say you’ll never be visiting again because you watched the staff have drinks is going to really limit where you can go out. I used to work as a bar back in restaurants and we have had plenty of drinks, it’s just part of the job. Any bar downtown and any club in Vegas, you will be seeing the staff drinking so you shouldn’t let this ruin your experience or stop you from going to certain places. The other review which really made me laugh was«Later someone come and orders a mojito and after she makes it sticks her straw in it and tastes it. I can’t belive that a bartender would do that.» ladies and gentlemen this is how your bartender tests your drink. Bartenders pour the concoction in a glass, insert bar straw, caps the top with their fingers and they get a small sample. So don’t be alarmed when you see a bartender doing that. So don’t let the 1 stars fool you, it has great drinks, apps, staff and an amazing atmosphere!

My first time here. Wonderful! New décor. Great atmosphere. Absolutely grade A service. I will come back, time and time, again. Madeline us my new favorite bartender. Boise has another great place!

Love coming into Amsterdam. Great place to play pool and drink beer, Kayla is my favorite cocktail! Her enthusiasm, attention to detail, making the customer feel at home, and overall grasp of what hospitality entails gives me new hope for service in the old Boise District.

I’ve been here three times. The first time was on a Tuesday, and was fantastic. Food, drinks, and attentive service for my friend and I all evening at the main center bar. Yay. Because of this experience, I took my husband for a drink on a Saturday evening around 6:45 p.m. We were flagged down off the street. «Come in! Come in! It’s happy hour!» We entered and took a cushy window seat. After 15 minutes of waiting, my husband tried to go flag down a waitress. The coffee bar staff were too busy doing other things to pay us any attention. After 20 minutes, a cocktail waitress absent-mindedly happened by and took our order. Then she returned because they didn’t have the bourbon my husband ordered. Then she returned because they were out of Grey Goose for my martini. Then she returned with our tab, and stood waiting for our card. Then, 10 minutes later we got our drinks. Why are you out on the street flagging people down if you have no resources to serve them? One good experience, one terrible experience: Which was the outlier? Lastly, Friday after work, happy hour with the girls. An experience similar to the second, we sat in the window in the main bar for about 15 minutes before going up to the coffee bar to see if the bartender would help us. My friend said that she read online that they had weekly special cocktails, could she see a list? The bartender said no, they had nothing like that. My friend asked if she could get a sloe gin fizz. The bartender said, «No…well, maybe if you tell me what’s in it??? Or i guess I could look on phone…» [pulls phone out of pocket and completely zones out.] Never mind, my friend asked if she could just get a gin and tonic. I asked which silver tequilas they had other than Patron. After settling on one, she asked if i was looking for a specific one? I said no, i just find Patron is often overpriced. She said, «Yeah, but everyone serves it. Everyone ALWAYS has it, its like… Grey Goose.» You can’t write this stuff. We decided to sit on the white couches right beside the coffee bar hoping for some semblance of service if we were there. Our third friend was about 30 minutes behind us, so she sat on the couches with us, at about 5:30, and waited for a server. And waited. And waited. At one point we realized there were SEVEN staff members bustling around the main center bar. Finally the waitress who had [barely] waited on my husband I came over to us and asked if she could get my friend something. My friend calmly said, «I’ve been waiting here for 30 minutes and no one has been able to stop by and ask if I wanted a drink… so no, I think we’re going to go somewhere else,» and that she was going to communicate this to the owner, whom she knows. The server blithely agreed that she would do the same thing, that was a really good idea! After we pointed out that there were seven staff members doing something at the bar, the server said, «Oh yeah, we’re really busy, we’re prepping for a party tonight.» Oh good, we care. We gathered our things and on our way out, the server cheerfully said, «thanks so much for coming in!» as though she had no idea that she had just spoken to us 3 minutes ago. We went next door to the Brickyard, where we quickly had waters and a round of cocktails. Within minutes the server graciously noted that while she had just served us, happy hour was ending, would we like another round on the cheap? Sure! So within 12 minutes we each had 3 glasses in front of us. This place doesn’t know if its audience is grownups looking for a swanky cocktail bar or a college bar catering to the drunken Bud Light crowd. And I agree with Kara S., the ladies room bathroom art is tacky and inappropriate.

I like the atmosphere okay, although I was more of a main street bistro type. It certainly is beautiful, though. My issue is the tasteless art in the female bathroom. It seems to be some kind of attempt at humor– a subtle domestic violence art display. Not my favorite thing to see up on the wall while out relaxing with friends. Apparently a friend of mine spoke with the manager about it when they first opened and he immediately got defensive, saying it was meant as a harmless decoration and my friend was being ridiculous. Sooooo thats a bummer. Luckily, theres about a billion other great places to get a drink in Boise. I think I’ll support just about anywhere else. :)

We had to ask the friendly waitress to put our drinks in and we are sitting at the bar how shitty is that. Not much of a crowd and the bartender can only handle one side of the bar. Cody you need to work on your skills.

Service was amazingly poor, and with the bar fairly empty. Happy hour drinks ½ price but drinks half full. Not planning to go back.

Awesome lounge atmosphere, great service, food, creative drink menu that created one of a kind experience! Date night for sure! I don’t agree with some of the low star comments before mine. Sounds like someone needs to stay in church versus going out to an awesome place like Amsterdam.

A great place to go if you actually want to sober up while waiting for your drinks. The wait was so long for 2 drinks I seriously felt like I could learn how to make the drink I wanted, gather the ingredients and actually just make it myself.

This place had great prices but you could tell the wait staff was super new to what they were doing. The bartender at the outside bar spent a lot of time on her cell texting away when she could have been doing something, like smile or say hello… it was kind of awkward. My friend ordered the tuna sushi roll, she said the rice was a little funky in texture, we told the waitress, she didn’t quite know how to handle the comment, very confused look on her face. Like I said, cheap place to drink but I don’t know if I’d go back, I might try in a couple months.

Not a bad place, and in fact the outdoor bar is rather amazing and the patio is very nice with a fireplace. I went there with my fiancé and we enjoyed ourselves quite a bit. Met cool people and had good drinks. So why did I give this place two stars? Two words. Intoxicated Staff. We watched as the bartenders and management took shots while working. I get having a drink AFTER work… But a job is a job. It’s not a job that means you can drink. It was very upsetting watching this and o can’t believe how many times I’ve seen this and they think it’s okay. Sure you want the guests to have a good time. But it does NOT give you a right to drink. It’s not about you. It’s about the guest and their safety. So let’s just say after watching this, we won’t be going back.

Can you do negative stars? Because that’s what this place deserves. Just because they changed the name that doesn’t change this place. The bartenders were stuck up and pretentious and the drinks weak and over priced. The nicest thing about this place was the bouncer. I regret tipping the bartenders so generously. As a paying customer I’ve never been so disrespected and degraded. As a bartender I have never treated or seen anyone treat another human being in that way.

Place is dirty, service is horrible, espresso is disgusting. Would never go here ever. You want something like this? Go to Goldy’s Corner for coffee & the space bar.

Stopped in to see what all the fuss was about and was completely blown away! The interior is absolutely gorgeous. There are many options on where to sit, we ended up outside on the patio. We were immediately greeted by friendly waitstaff. She explained the drink menu and gave us some really good suggestions. They also have food options that looked amazing. We will be back to give those a try another day. Overall we really enjoyed ourselves and will definitely tell all our friends about it.

Date night we went to Amsterdam I heard great things so why not try it out. Sat at the coffee bar and we weren’t acknowledge at all sat there while the bartender is spazzed out. Finlally notices us and it wasnt even busy. Bartender made my martini filled the glass not even close to the top and she drank the rest out of the shaker. I was appalled. She was to busy playing with her hair the whole time. Later someone come and orders a mojito and after she makes it sticks her straw in it and tastes it. I can’t belive that a bartender would do that. I would go back but not sit at the coffee bar. I suggest better bartenders. I don’t think she new what she was even doing.

Great drink menu and all of the adult coffees are amazing. The staff was very friendly and fun. They also have a great patio for just hanging out.

I have to adamantly disagree with the other two previous reviews! The layout and spacing of The Amsterdam Lounge contributes to the sense that it is perhaps one of the few adult bars in town! Super comfortable patio couches and an exterior wooden high top bar are inviting and relaxing. The menu is diverse and the coffee cocktails are superb. Incredibly friendly staff help to make this be a destination that we will return to again and again. Not to mention the Parrilla Breakfast Burritos!

I was super underwhelmed. Came here on a Saturday night about 9:30 excited to see all the new changes. It feels like the Spacebar got caught in a growing pain. It doesn’t flow, it all feels out of whack. Basically — they took out the dance floor. Put in 4 pub height tables with 2 chairs at each & the rest is a huge empty space. The drink menu was good. I tried the Mule & it was pretty good. I wanted it to be a cool place to hang out — but def. missed the mark. STILL the only good thing about this place is the outdoor area.

Very appealing to the eye as you walk in but the place is a total buzz kill. As you walk around the place it seems like the owner had no idea what he wanted. The coffee bar/lounge/arcade has the potential to be at least 2 – 3 business but they have been poorly conglomerated into one giant mess of a bar. He tried throwing in an 80’s arcade to attract people but SPACEBAR already exist for that.
