I loved my breakfast here. Stopped in on Saturday morning because, well, the Bloody Mays. Ordered biscuits and gravely with poach eggs. Delicious and somehow prepared quickly. Also, ordered a Poor Betty – a kind of upgraded Bloody Mary. Delicious again. Service was friendly and fast. I highly recommend this place for breakfast!

My husband and I had dinner here for our anniversary. We were very pleased with our experience. Our server, Kevin, did an amazing job of talking us through the dinner menu and telling us everything from the origins to his favorites. We tried the halloumi, and absolutely loved it. My husband has a dietary restriction, and Kevin was very attentive towards accommodating him and still making sure he found something he could enjoy. We have had a lot of bad experiences with servers lately who seemed in a rush, or as though they did not care at all about our experience. Kevin had a very genuine personality, and really made our anniversary dinner enjoyable. It is hard to find service like that these days. Between the food, the service, and the atmosphere, this place is truly a Boise gem.

My favourite place in Boise. The mixologists are amazing, and the food is always excellent. Great ambience, wonderful patio, never tire of this place.

A little small so service can be a difficult. It is a bit cookie cutter in concept and style, so minus one star. The décor is interesting but nothing memorable. Good staff and the seasonal menu’s are a great strength to the Red Feather.

Went there for my birthday last night, and everything was amazing! Had the short ribs with mushrooms and risotto. The short rib melted in my mouth, and the risotto was perfect, creamy and perfectly cooked. My fiancée had the filet, which was perfectly cooked and very flavorful. For desert we had the molten chocolate brioche which was also amazing! The service was great, and they even comped my desert for my birthday. Will definitely come back.

Our bartender Katie was amazing. Best bartender in town. We are going to make this our place. Perfect atmosphere and fun awesome people. Had some appetizers, they were delicious too. Had the Calamari and the Herbed Flatbread. I know, you’re thinking blah, but no way, great twist on these appetizers!

My oh my. That trout. Heavenly. I have enjoyed a milk and honey as a side the two times I have been here. Try a different drink amongst many next time.

First impression is to hurry up and grab a seat and grab a beer! It is seat yourself. But the experience is worth it. Service was great and the many fine beers they had were amazing. Great for outdoor parties or just a single having lunch by themselves.

I’ve been here about 7 or 8 times over the past 2 years and the service and quality hasn’t lost one bit of their dedication to quality. The seasonal menu hits home every time when they compliment the meal with seasonal ingredients such as ramps or squash blossoms in the spring to sunchoke and parsnips in the winter. I had the citrus beet salad with the salmon with mushroom risotto and ramps(I missed out on the trout which was sold out) the most recent visit which was great as always. Make sure to visit the cocktail list as its one of the best and most inventive I’ve seen. Not a cocktail person? They update the beer menu every few days and have a great and affordable wine list. If you have a wait for a table, the bar staff is extremely attentive and insightful. Kaytie and Ryan do a great job finding a drink that suits the occasion.

Connected to the Bitterceek Ale House, Red Feather has its own entrance and menu. Great atmosphere, casual but upscale casual. The doors were open to an awesome spring evening! We shared the Lounge Fries Trio– halloumi, polenta and shoestring. Each had its own sauce and all were great but the star was the lightly spicy polenta and chipotle style sauce! My girl had the Black Cliffs American Stout and it was great, and I had the Polecat margarita which was finished with cinnamon and was wonderful! Light and not too sweet and just right! We shared the Red Feather salad and the fries trip plus that was great for us to share and be full but not stuffed. The salad was delicious, light but filling. The Kaluha spiked walnuts were great! We finished off the meal with the chocolate Irish torte and it was wonderful! A bit heavy for me but I don’t have the sweet tooth ;) Right on the Main Street downtown, we had a great view of the start of Saturday night fun outside. The service was good– polite, quick, great suggestions but not in our face all night. We will be back!

Portlander’s know good drink and food! This place serves it up the Portland way and beyond. Get this! Tap list is 30 deep with 20th anniversary ales, hoppy, fruity, spicy, funky, session, roasty, malty and no gluten beer. Kombucha! Big big wine selection. The Buzz … All organic, local, farm fresh and sustainable. Like it that way always! Situated downtown in old brick building, 2 story with basement, which is home for composting red worms that eat food scraps and produce an earthy, rich, and beneficial vermicompost. Cool! Note: we met owner a year or so ago when in town and toured the vermicompost operation – I don’t know of any Portland restaurants doing it like this on site! Very convivial atmosphere. Several areas for chit chatting, partying, or casual-fine dining. Kenzey, our friendly and knowledgeable server steered us through the menu and we ordered based on her suggestions, because it all looked great. We ordered BLT – maple glazed pork belly, avocado and dressed yummy! Also, Los Rancheros– corn tortillas, curds, tomatillo-braised pork, black beans, fried eggs, cotija, chipolte salsa delicious too! Finished with Peruvian coffee! An absolutely satisfying lunch! Tidbit: A place called Red Feather lounge once occupied the space and they stirred cocktails with a rooster’s red feather – there you have it from a Portland foodie!

I have been frequenting this place on and off for the last 10 years, while I think it has lost some of its appeal(and its comfort after the botched remodel), I still enjoy a nice brunch there, and will continue to praise their Eggs Benedict, and some of the best Bloody Mary’s in the city. Overall, I have to say it has withstood the test of time while many other restaurants in the city have come and gone, that has to say something. Its not super casual, but its not super formal either. Its right in the middle also, in price. Not too expensive, but more than some other restaurants. It’s a great place!

Red Feather is somewhat of an institution in Boise, and it’s the first place that popped up on my radar,(many moons ago) serving proper California-esque cuisine in Idaho. In the moons that have passed since, Red Feather has been through one or two face lifts, an identity crisis & subsequent loss of(my) respect, and finally, a most beautiful resurgence! Which brings us to these 4 stars. Brunch offerings are filled fresh new ideas(polenta & eggs), and good stand-bys like bottomless mimosas. Lunch and dinner boast delicious share items(like the lamb meatball) and well-prepared larger ticket choices like charbroiled salmon or hog chop. Almost the entire menu comes from local vendors, and all but the plastic and protein are composted. The cocktail menu has steeper competition in Boise than it once did, but is still one of the best in class. Get thee a reservation.

Went to Boise to visit a friend not expecting much as far as the foodie scene. My goodness was I wrong. Red Feather Lounge was our first stop that evening and I fell in love with it! Lovely ambiance, beautiful interior, delicious food especially the kale salad and the donuts with the caramel sauce. They were so good I stopped by on the way to the airport to take some home with me to Seattle! Next time in Boise, it’s a must for dinner and drinks!

Absolutely the best rib eye I have ever had!!! I enjoy steaks from many different«steak houses» in my travels. This one without question was the BEST I have ever had that wasn’t cooked on my own grill. Kaytie the bar manager is effing amazing!!! The drinks are unique and tasty and the atmosphere is very cool… It was a Tuesday and it was rocking!!! I will alway stop by when in town!!!

First off, this place has one of the coolest vibes in downtown Boise. The bar, the lighting, the spiral staircase wine loft. The menu was really new age with options you don’t find on many other menus. My date and I got the Red Feather House Salad and the Mushroom Risotto and both were absolutely delicious! I have never ordered risotto as an entrée from a restaurant and I was overwhelmed with how good it was! The server was new and training and was a young man who was friendly and very professional(as well as his trainer). Only complaints were that they served us water with no ice(first world problem) and the tables were so close that we had to fight to tune out the couple next to us having a very personal conversation. Overall I’ll return to check out the cocktails and a great place for a date! Added Bonus: They were showing Parks and Rec on their bar TV!

Truly as good as it gets! I popped by Red Feather late on a Friday night and it was hoppin’, but the staff never skipped a beat. Though the place was packed we were treated like the only table in the house. The friends I dined with are regulars and so they partake in a super cool cocktail club that anyone can join. You pay for a card(I think you can redeem it after a certain purchase of drinks?) and then you get to try dozens of classic cocktails off the menu over the course or weeks, months, or years. Anytime you visit you can ask to see your cocktail card and they’ll bring it to you. It’ll have a signature or stamp over the drinks you’ve tried and the rest are left for you to check out. There’s info about the cocktails at each table and the map itself also has descriptions. It’s a great way to learn more about cocktail culture and history — all while sort of playing a game! Educational + fun = awesome. While not a member of the club(since I’m from out of town), I still got a great drink. Ok, two great drinks. No, maybe three! The food here is also outstanding. Every single item was awesome — the Brussels sprouts, the smoked trout, you name it — we ate it and we loved it. I don’t think I could visit Boise again without demanding we go here. Loved it to pieces.

Had a busy day where lunch was skipped and somehow the evening bled on until it was 10pm and I was still dinnerless. Where to go after 10 pm on a Thursday night when one is famished? And, hey, I wouldn’t have necessarily minded a nightcap… Red Feather delivered in a big way. First, I’ve previously stated that I prefer their small plate menu to their full blown entrees. That, my friends, was before my Thursday night Kasespatzle. Dear delicious cheesy god – swiss gruyère, crispy onion, and a hint of nutmeg. It was the perfect dish, presented at the perfect moment. And, a total bonus yahtzee? My favorite bartender was mixing that evening(I can’t think of her name, but she’s got a red feather on the back of her shoulder). The woman is an alchemist. I ordered the whiskey sour. It was delivered and my dining companion said to me as I sipped, «that does NOT look like a whiskey sour,»(he fancies himself a bit of a whiskey man). «Try it, «I urged. He did. «That’s awesome!» «Yep.» “No, I mean, as whiskey sours go… that’s like a really, really good one.» «That’s what I’m sayin’, doll.» And, of course we ended the evening sharing an order of beignets. It’s a Red Feather tradition. If you order nothing else, you should always and every single time order the beignets. Thank you, Red Feather. You are my best-friend in locally sourced lounge food & cocktail form. Which is to say: I love you. (I was really, really, REALLY hungry, people!) Get to it!

With apologies to Rodgers and Hart. «We’ll take Manhattans, New twist Old Fashioneds, Housemade Eggnog too, It’s lovely sipping through Red Feather’s menu.» OK. I’ll stop. But a timely tip to say the Eggnog with Buffalo Trace bourbon and a kiss of fresh grated nutmeg is a treat with a true limited time offer as it is likely to come off the menu after New Year. It was worth every calorie of indulgence and may be the best eggnog I have ever enjoyed. All cocktails here are luscious. These are skilled mixologists at work. The drinks menu has both new twists on old favorites as well as completely new combinations and drinks are listed on the extensive menu in order of light to dark. There is a lot to like here outside of the beverages. This is not just a bar with food. This is a restaurant with delicious food that also serves cocktails and wine. It has some advantages that its’ sister enterprise of Bittercreek, right next door, does not. The Achilles here may be service. VIBE The space is small and tight but somehow they have avoided the gawdawful noise levels and cheek to cheek(as in south cheeks) crowding of Bittecreek. The music here is a good, unusual mix that fits the space and while it is at an assertive level is not the overwhelming level of Bittercreek. There is a two story lighted wine cellar display offset by wood tables and a casual feel that is just a little sophisticated too. One is at home here in jeans but one could also feel this is date night setting. There are low tables and high stool seating both on the first floor and more tables and chairs up a steep flight of stairs. SERVICE I wouldn’t exactly say this is «all people are welcome» vibe as our host and servers while cordial did seem a bit unsure of us given we are likely outside the usual demographic. Follow up was minimal. But«nolo timere Boomers» is my motto. We old people who remember exactly where we were on November 22, 1963 eat and drink too! EATS Red Feather shares a kitchen and menu with Bittercreek Alehouse until 5:00 so you’ll find delicious food using locally sourced ingredients. Happy hour from 4:00 to 6:00 is as Bittercreek’s menu. After 5:00 p.m. Red Feather has their own dinner menu. This is easily some of the best food we’ve had in all of Boise and while some may do as good a job for Farm to Fork sourcing, none do it better than Bittercreek and Red Feather. They even list all of their local suppliers on the back of the menu, which is something I very much appreciate. Prices range from as little as $ 2 for happy hour tacos(these both my husband and I highly recommend) through entrees priced at around $ 20 minus. These are really fair prices for the quality and portions. Tis a mystery how they do it. My Brooklyn native husband called the Manhattan Clam Chowder among the best he’s ever had. Leaning vegetarian in most things, we note the menus(lunch and dinner) are great ones for those who like to graze through a menu as omniovores, but in particular a good set of options for vegetarians. I’d say order anything with chimichurri sauce. And if you think a wedge salad is a ho-hum thing, try it here as transformed with butter lettuce heart, gorgonzola, candied bacon, oven roasted tomatoes and crispy fried onions. Just over five bucks on the dinner menu and it is a meal in itself. HAPPYHOUR OK. I’m going to be a crumudgeon about their Happy Hour drinks special.(HH is 4 — 6 /M-F). This is a policy used by several Boise establishments. A «two for the price of one» on certain drinks. That does not mean you can order two drinks for two people to have one each and pay for one. It means the same person has to order both drinks for themselves. Drink one, your second one is free. For some people two cocktails and a drive home is not a good thing. I think this policy encourages over consumption. I’m much more a fan of HH policies that offer a discount on one beverage. VINO We have yet to order wine here and we need to fix that shortcoming on our part because they have a great list of fairly priced wines by the glass and by the bottle with Idaho and Northwest options well represented. Salute! THIS N THAT: 1) BREAKFAST&OTHERSPECIALFEATURES: I hear they serve breakfast, although have not been in for that meal. They also have a wine cellar that is available for special events I hear. They also have a cocktail club in which one can enroll, so if you’re a frequent imbiber here that could be fun to know more about. 2) ACCESSIBILITY: Level in. Path of travel spaces are tight. Some seating at standard table height. Upper level seating is by stairs only. Did not attempt to check out the loo. There is no accessible parking on this street. 3) GOODNEIGHBORS: Bittercreek next door. Juniper across the street. 4) WHATTYAMEAN… who is Rodgers and Hart? ;-)
