If I had to sum up my dining experience in one word, it would be «WOW!» This was our 1st time eating at FORK and can honestly say it just might be the best restaurant in Boise. Yes, the best. In my opinion, it was more delicious and had better service than Chandlers, Ruth’s Chris and the Cottonwood Grill. Yes, it is that good! We started out with the grilled artichoke appetizer. So many times when you order an artichoke at a restaurant, you only get ½ of one. Well, not here. You get the whole thing – and it’s a big one. It comes with a flavored aioli that was tangy and bright. For dinner, my husband ordered the Voodoo Chicken(a ½ chicken infused with warm Moroccan herbs and spices) and served over parsnip purée. We learned this chicken is brined in Moroccan herbs and spices for 5 days before cooking it. The meat was tender, moist and packed full of Moroccan love. I am very familiar with Moroccan foods and this dish did not disappoint. Moroccan spice blends often contain ginger, cardamom, allspice, mace and nutmeg and cinnamon – all spices that give the dish a «warm» taste to it. As for the parsnip purée, we were pleasantly surprised and, upon eating it with the chicken, found it to be a perfect complement. You do have the option to substitute asparagus but, even with as much as I love asparagus, you would be missing a perfect pairing. YUM. I ordered the filet Mignon topped with bourbon-porchini-peppercorn sauce and served with green beans. It came out perfectly cooked and magically seasoned. I closed my eyes(so I could experience all the flavors) and took a bite. Immediately, my heart was filled with pure joy as the perfectly seasoned and cooked filet exploded with flavor and melted in my mouth. Now, if you know me, you know that one expression I absolutely hate is when people say their entrée is «cooked to perfection.» Well, I will actually say that my steak was«cooked to perfection!» Amazing! And, the bourbon-porchini-peppercorn sauce complimented the steak«perfectly.»(OMG… I just said perfect twice!). Oh, the green beans were also delicious. Now for the butter cake. Neither of us had ever had butter cake before but after hearing the reviews, we decided it was a must. We sure are glad we did… It was a warmed up, buttery genoise-style(spongy) cake, topped with vanilla ice cream and a berry coulis. The cake was so delicious – even without the ice cream and coulis. MMMMM… Our server was Chris and he did a bang up job. He was very attentive and honest with his recommendations. Jason, the General Manager also came by to visit with us. Now that’s classy! Now I have read that folks think the prices are high but they are not. The bill for a similar meal at Ruth’s Chris, Chandlers or the Cottonwood Grill would be higher. The prices are appropriate. I am pleased to announce that FORK is now my favorite restaurant in Boise. My only disappointment came from not trying FORK before now. Had I discovered it before, I’m sure I would have already tried everything on the menu. :-) Now, I must try it’s sister restaurant, Alavita – an Italian restaurant that boasts restaurant made fresh pasta. :-) I really believe you will love FORK. I can’t wait to go back… :-)

I had a wonderful meal here with my father and husband! It was a busy summer weekend and we arrived around 9 but only had to wait for a few minutes to be seated. The blackberry lemonade cocktail was delicious and they have an ample wine list. We shared a great pork belly appetizer with Mac and cheese, it was very good and a wonderful large portion perfect for sharing. I will definitely be returning here for a future special occasion!
