By favorite bar in Boise.
Just belly up to the bar and drink whatever they tell you to drink. Really. Because they know. The fookin’ KNOW man. Don’t question. Just drink. This is a bar, y’all.
Forgive me, I’m getting drunken flashbacks just thinking of this place.
Let me explain how amazing this place is with an anecdote:
I checked into my flight back to Los Angeles three hours early so I wasn’t encumbered by my luggage, hopped in a cab, and spent the next two hours waiting for my flight here, and then took a cab back to the airport.
so yes, it’s worth two $ 15 cab rides.
(Why only four stars then? Well, the food is hit and miss. The cocktails are not. Who needs food anyway?)

Great food and great service. Anthony was our server, he was attentive without hovering over us. Made timely and good suggestions. We will gladly go back, one of the best in Boise.

After stuffing ourselves at Barbacoa, we stopped at Juniper for cocktails. They have a pretty nice selection to choose from here and the prices are not that bad.
You have two different windows of opportunity to hit a happy hour here, so plan accordingly. Select drinks are 2-​for-​1. Overall drink prices are very reasonable — my whiskey sour was $ 6.50, which is considerably less than what I’ve paid at other downtown bars. And when was the last time you had them make one of these with egg whites?
The inside of this place has a very cool vibe and they also have outdoor patio seating like many of the other downtown bars and restaurants.
Service was a little slow due to a new bartender in training, but otherwise a good experience. Definitely worth a return visit.

I had the steak salad, it wss good but plain. I asked for brad received it 10 minutes into eating my entrée.

Really cool downtown venue with indoor and outdoor seating, comfortable volume, good service, unusual food offerings so you’re not eating the same old same old. Enjoy!

Food was excellent! The hostess had a hard time greeting us (first impressions COUNT!!) but our server was on top of it… very friendly! We ordered from the brunch menu: biscuits & gravy, ricotta donuts, huckleberry brioche french toast, bacon, eggs & toast… all fantastic!

Great lunch spot in downtown Boise that was exactly what we were looking for. Great décor, selection of food followed up with well prepared and tasting dishes, and wonderful service from an adorable and good-​spirited waitress named Hannah. Came in a bit after the lunch crowd so we were well attended and fully enjoyed our meals. Would definitely return, perhaps to enjoy some cocktails and dinner!

Went here for lunch the other day. The food was amazing and the drinks were great. Though their bloodymarys were a little heavy on the horse radish for me, every one else loved them though. The service was excellent as well! The curly haired bartender/​server, she seemed to be the only one working, was so personable and friendly. She did take note that I hadn’t been drinking my drink and told me she could fix it for me. After going and getting a few things, she made me a bloody mary that was more to my liking. Great food, drinks, service, and atmosphere! If you’re ever in boise be sure to make it a point to stop in!

This place is legit — fried chicken sandwich with house pickle and side salad were scrumptious and the red beans and rice were on point. I’ll be back for lunch soon.

Juniper has the best gin and tonics I have ever had.
Every time I have been there I have had incredible service. Darrah took care of us and was great.
If you want a great atmosphere, great drinks/​food, incredible staff, you have to try this place!

Quite a great spot to spend the night, as it opens to late night and the food is quite satisfying.

Decided to try brunch here after the farmers market. The service was great– friendly, fast and hardworking. We got here at 10:30ish and the place filled up very shortly after.
I got the lucifers hangover Bloody Mary. If you like spicy this one is for you. It was delicious, not the biggest around but definitely one of the better bloody Mary’s I’ve had in Boise. Sister got a mimosa. She said it was good, nothing special.
I got the vegetable hash and absolutely loved it. A blend of onions, mushrooms, potatoes, carrots, peppers and spinach topped with a perfect poached egg. It was plated beautifully. Definitely did not disappoint.
Sister got egg sandwich. It was tasty but very messy to eat. It comes on a wonderful flaky, buttery croissant. The sauce was good too.
Sister #2 got pesto scramble was just okay… Wouldn’t order again.
Breakfast is good but I loooove their appetizers and dinner. There happy hour is a must!

Can’t beat the location on 8^th Street and the patio, especially during happy hour (two for one’s on select craft cocktails and discounted select food). Their Moscow Mules are better than most because they make their own ginger beer.
My favorite app is the fried olives. Ohhh my gosh. And the pear fig grilled cheese is absolutely divine.
Plenty of gluten free, vegetarian, and vegan items.

Brunch today after walking the market. We chose it because it wasn’t that busy like some of the other popular places. Very smart move. Very cute inside. Lots of cute brunch drink specials. My husband got the egg croissant sandwich, my daughter got the biscuits and gravy which were very good. I got the huevos rancheros. It was a different spin on it but it was very tasty. The juices tasted freshly squeezed.

What a phenomenal establishment. Super happy with the service and aesthetic of this restaurant, not to mention the food! I got the burger while my friend ordered a special that was so tasty! I cannot remember the details of my friends order all I know is it was delicious. To me this speaks volumes to the creativity and culinary prowess of the chefs. Can’t wait to eat here again!

Juniper has one of the best happy hours in town. They have creative and flavorful menu options your not going to find anywhere else in Boise. I love the fact they are all about supporting local farms and breweries/​cideries. It’s one of the few places in town I can get local cider. The red beans and fries is delicious and huge! Their burger is made from local meat topped with fresh veggies and their house made aioli. Friends I have gone with said their cocktails are great but vary by the bartender. Hungry yet? Head downtown from 10pm to midnight and 4pm to 6pm.

Was enjoying this quaint location until the staff change. It brought about a new tone to the location combined with different music (we were singing to the 70’s Rock before they changed to blue grass).
The patio is nice, but the lack of umbrellas makes it less than stellar on bright sunny or rainy days. The interior has lots of standing space by the bar if you’re waiting for a seat along the booth wall. The bathrooms are built for giants — I couldn’t even come close to touching the floor while using the toilet (slightly gross, right) and had to stand on my tip toes to get up/​down.
Note to the staff — don’t change the tunes when your limited clientele are enjoying them because your personal preference is something else (we observed two people having a conversation about this like we weren’t even there). Customer service fail. Maybe ask us next time.

Wow. The food is beyond my expectation. Love the location the décor. Everything about this place is great. Will definitely come more often for lunch or dinner.

Juniper is one of my favorite places to visit for happy hour, as they offer rotating drink and food specials. Their patio is superb for people-​watching and enjoying a cocktail in the summer, and the inside is so nice to enjoy a drink during the cold summer months. I love the ambiance of that place… the lighting is dim and it feels like an upscale spot. My favorite part is they’re totally local, so you can ask for their house-​made syrups or things from local breweries and they’ll hook you up!
Food: The only thing I haven’t tried there is the food! Next time!
Drinks: All their drinks are superb. Some of the drinks on the happy hour menu, featuring their house-​made syrups, are rather sweet, so if you prefer ones that aren’t too sugary, pick a stronger drink or ask for light syrup. The Juniper gin & tonic is excellent, dry, and a little bitter. I loved it! I also think their Southside, similar to a mojito but with gin, is delicious.
Atmosphere: I LOVE the atmosphere at Juniper. It’s best during their early happy hour hours because it’s not too busy. I really enjoy the dim lighting, tall ceilings, and beautiful bar display.
Service: THE SERVICE ROCKS. Their waiters/​waitresses are always so friendly and know their liquor selection up and down. Tell them what you like and ask them to make you a drink… they’ll make it happen!
Happy Hour Offerings: M-​F drink and food happy hour. Specials rotate based on the season so go often to explore the menu!

Tips: Try any of their cocktails made with Idaho Kombucha! Yum!

Third time here but first review, wanted to average the visits out but every time it has been fantastic. Moscow mule was made with house made ginger beer, love the slight ginger burn as it goes down. Had pickles and olives, pickles being cured in-​house. I love the attention to everything being made fresh with a local emphasis, down to the proletariat wine.
Lamb Reuben was better than many pastrami that I have had. Give this place a go!
