It is a whiskey bar. They serve whiskey. The drinks are well crafted but it took a while to get served as other people have stated. We came here on an early Saturday and got prime seating at the open garage doors so we could people watch, the best part. When it started to pick up the noise level became a bit overwhelming. I can see this place definitely being a prime spot for college and party goers! Plan to spend upwards of 8+ on a drink. No matter the price, the wait, or the noise level, it is worth a visit.

Not a bad place, and in fact I like the décor. I wish I could’ve had the whole experience though. This review is short because all in all… when my fiancé and I went there, we NEVER got served! We even waited for about 20 minutes before just walking out. Oh well… maybe We’ll have to go not on the weekend. Like I said… nice décor, but no service!

I was not impressed with The Whiskey Bar. I’ve been there a few times and every time the service has been terrible, and they were not that busy, even after we did get served the drinks were terrible. The bartenders are rude. Never going back here.

Great bartender and selection of whiskey. They really know how to make a great drink with great ingredients. If you like whisky and are in Boise, this is the place.

Bar is sticky! My only drink of the day was mixed incorrectly . No alternative offered from bartender.

This place is beautifully decorated and could be an awesome place if they would hire some employees that actually are there to do a job!!! The owner of this establishment needs to be aware of the drunk bartenders serving themselves rather than the customers. If this place wants to be successful the first thing that needs to happen is FIRE the blonde bartender w/the duck dynasty beard! He seems to think he’s the owner and something tells me he’s not. He will only serve his friends and the girls he’s trying to lay! All 3 times we’ve been there(this was the last time we will give it a chance), he has left our group begging to order a drink for over 20 min. While serving people walking right up to the bar, people he obviously is chummy with and people who don’t seem to be paying. Serve the paying customers!!! This blonde bearded bartender is rude, drinks behind the bar, doesn’t serve the paying customers, and only acknowledges those he’s giving the bar away to! Fire this guy! He’s costing this place A LOTOFMONEY!!!

Went because it was new and the bar next door(birch) is my favorite in town. I am 23 years old and love how you can be young and when you walk in you feel just classier. People are dressed nice, not yelling and generations mesh well. Bartenders made me enjoy whiskey more by suggesting drinks more in my pallet. love this bar! little pricey but for me I always save some money for at least a drink there each night i go out.

Kids ruin the atmosphere. All over bar. Crazy rude parents. Over rated place. Decide if its for adults or kids after 8pm. Won’t come back

This place has a great atmosphere. It feels like sitting inside a whiskey barrel with all the wood. It’s nice and spacious, but there is not a ton of seating so get there early. The cinnamon girl and brown sugar we’re both very good. They have many whiskey, bourbon, and scotch options. Some are very reasonable, so you don’t have to break the bank to get a couple nice drinks. If you looking for something expensive and exotic, they probably have what your looking for. Check it out!

The Whiskey Bar is one of my favorite places downtown where I don’t feel old in the 21-year-old college crowd. This bar has a very relaxed and chill vibe. In the summer the front garage-style doors open up so you can do some people-watching. I’m not a huge fan of whiskey and bourbon which of course they have an extensive selection of, however they do have some really good classic cocktails. My favorite is the Light My Fire(spicy margarita with cilantro and jalapenos). There’s a pool table in the back, otherwise there’s several tables and lounge areas but most of the times I’ve been there its standing room only.

Met friends for drinks last night. Great location & I liked the interior as well. It will be nice in the summer when you can sit and sip your drink with the large doors open to watch the traffic. They have a nice selection of whiskey, but I don’t know about other drinks. My biggest complaint is they serve no food– no bowls of nuts, nothing! I think if you’re going to have more than one drink, you should be able to order food!

Im only giving 2 stars because of the great scotch selection, otherwise this place is massively overrated. Its so packed on weekends that they think its a good idea to crank up the terrible music selection so that everyone inside has to shout to hear eachother. The staff is so-so, and the mixed drinks have no consistency at all, one will be mediocre, one will be fantastic, the next will be so half assed it isnt even what you ordered. I basically avoid this place like the plague unless my friends try to drag me in which usually results in my going elsewhere and meeting up later.

This place is a joke! This is not a Whiskey Bar! This is a bar that just sells whiskey. They have no more selection than anyone else in town. The staff have zero expertise in whiskey. In fact, they are some of the dullest bartenders on the planet. The place is filled college kids and the atmosphere is as rich as the hall next to the bathroom. Do yourself a favor, go anywhere else in Boise other than this place. This is not a place for adults!

Love this place. We have been meaning to check this out since it opened, and finally got our chance on a Saturday afternoon. First of all, I’m a fan of any place with a Saturday happy hour($ 2 wells? Yes, please!), second, they have a great whiskey and scotch menu. Décor is modern/rustic, which I like, although the chandelier on the ceiling seems a little out of place. Good background music that is not overly loud. Overall, the drinks are great, reasonably priced, and the place has a great vibe. We’ll definitely be back.

Amazing drinks! Went on a Sunday and it was pretty mellow and not too loud which I love since other bars can feel to «college bar scene» like. Staff was super friendly and helpful will definitely be returning!

I was excited when I read an article in The Statesman about a whiskey bar finally opening in the area. Something that is very popular at the moment in larger cities. I was a bit let down when I found out it was much more of a generic downtown bar with a large whiskey selection rather than an intimate whiskey lounge like others I’ve been to in Portland, Seattle and San Francisco. Nothing against the bar itself, just not what I was personally expecting. Pros: — Decent selection base on what the state carries. — Lovely décor. Reclaimed barn wood and great black and white paintings. — Good prices. No drastic mark-up on anything other than Old Rip Van Winkle 10 which is common with all the hype in recent years. Cons: — No proper glassware. If I order a pour of an $ 80 bottle of Scotch I would like it to be in a proper Glencairn glass which has been the universally accepted nosing/tasting glass for years now. Instead I was given a small Old Fashioned glass. — Filthy glassware. My glass looked as though it had a mixed drink in it the night before and the sticky residue hadn’t been cleaned out at all. There was a large amount of residue going up each corner of the square glass. — Lack of environment. It’s a good looking place but just feels like a large empty downtown bar in the afternoon. It’s also far away from the hustle and bustle of areas such as 8th Street. I sat and looked outside at empty sidewalks and a running shoe store while I had my glass of Scotch. I’ve also walked by in the evening after enjoying dinner downtown and it is packed full of the young bar crowd which is great business but not an environment to enjoy a glass of whiskey. Overall it’s a great looking bar with a good selection but not quite the environment and finesse I was hoping for.

I’m a big fan of whiskey, bourbon and scotch so this place was right up my alley. I’ve been here a handful of times always great service and stiff drinks. Super excited to see this place evolve and I’m happy to see the staff that was put together. Definitely the best of Boise as far as mixologists go.

Nailed it! So excited for Boise to have a new bar/lounge like this. Perfect mix of décor, and people. Great crowd and off the path a little from the normal downtown scene. I appreciate not having all the 21 year old bar crawl crowd and instead a group of mixed adults enjoying cocktails and company. Drinks served in mason jars. Who doesn’t like that???

This place has an amazing selection and great prices. The vibe is really cool, only wished there was more seating options. Get there early for a garage door area seat.

Great nostalgic atmosphere with the interior of the bar decorated in reclaimed barn wood. They have over 100 different whiskeys on the shelf with top shelf selections of scotch, vodka etc. great place to escape the heat and get a cold drink.
