I’m a fan! I really, really like this place. The atmosphere makes this 30 something guy feel both young and comfortable. The place is modern just as their name says. I read though this morning that this place will be closing in two days :( The staff is super friendly. I went during happy hour and my oh-so-good drink was ½ price. We got two app’s– a big ass pretzel and their sweet potato tater tots in a glaze with shredded pork on top. The pretzel was $ 6 and it’s the exact same one you get in the grocers freezer and even better ones at pretzel-time in any mall. The tots were $ 10– it was good, but its the same price as a whole meal– the food, to me, was pretty sweet and just too much. With that being said, I kept eating! I had a burger, I don’t remember which one, and it was average. For me, a burger is a burger is a burger! The fries were pretty good. Their fry sauce is made with horseradish sauce which for me didn’t work. Overall, I really, really like this place and planned to returned, but they’re going out of business :( Thank you Grind for a great experience.

The food was excellent. Props for creating a vegetarian friendly menu. Pickle fries were great. The house made ginger beer was the only food item that I think needs work– ginger tasted like it was a little old. Also the service a little off. Everyone was very friendly but when we walked in around lunch time on a weekday(we were the only customers) the staff took their time finishing their conversation around the bar before assisting us. It happens sometimes! Service was better once a manager/owner(?) arrived. I will definitely return though.

I’ve been a few times now, the food is always great and I love the fries and sauce options!(Although I do wish they would bring back the fantastic sauce flight). It’s a gourmet burger experience, sans the fussy attitudes that gourmet can bring. The Homestead is my favorite burger so far, and definitely order the brussels sprouts! If you do go, plan for a longer dinner: it’s bare minimum as far as service goes, very slow and not very helpful, but everyone has always been pleasant– never rude.

Hands on DEEEELICIOUS. From the service to the beer to the FOOD! AMAZIN! Ordered the garlic fries/ghost pepper fries(spicy but awesome) if you like spicy try them! Also had the sandwich(brisk– bacon and collard greens) wow it was soooooo good I ate everything!!! It’s a bit on the big side but I eat a lot so this was perfect for me! Prices were very reasonable because I got full compared to other places. Thank you ! Will come back for sure!!!

Let me start out by saying that I harbor no ill will against the staff I encountered at this restaurant. They were nothing but professional. This is the reason they got 2 stars instead of 1. Please understand that I have thought about this a lot since I had my experience and the decision to write this review was not an easy one. I hope that anyone who reads this review recognizes my attempt to remain fair and not focus on just the negative aspects of my visit. On Thursday, January 28th, myself and three others stopped in to have lunch. We were impressed by the clean and modern décor. Our drink order was taken immediately and soon thereafter our food order was taken. All within less than 15 minutes. Kudos! I ordered the«Moderngrind», two of the other three ordered the«Homestead» and the third ordered the«Dailygrind»(it was some sort of beer burger that day). The burgers arrived rather quickly. When I picked up my burger and took the first bite, a rather large amount of blood(I am color blind and it is difficult to differentiate between brown and dark red) plopped down onto my plate. I disregarded it as just an exceptionally juicy burger. Just to make sure, I took a look at what I had just bit into… Sometimes I can see the red in meat… It looked fine so I kept going. As I am eating, the two people who had gotten the«Homstead» had begun to question as to whether or not their burger was fully cooked. Both ended up resigning to the fact that their burgers were severely under cooked. It took me longer to get to that point. As I am continuing to eat my burger, I stop for a minute to look at an area near the center of my burger that looked… odd. As I am closely examining my burger, I realize that it is, in fact, raw. Yes, raw. Not rare, medium rare or even medium but raw. One of the others at the table flags down the waiter to inform him of our substandard food. We explain to him that our burgers are raw. «Well, we do cook our burgers to about a medium…», I show him my burger, «No, that is raw.». «Yes, that is raw». He immediately takes back our three burgers. Burger #4 is fully cooked so he continues on. After a few minutes the waiter returns to bring us our fries to snack on to tie us over until they are able to remake our burgers. All the while our drinks are being continually refilled and we are being well taken care of. Within a few additional minutes, they bring us new burgers. This time the burgers have been fully cooked and there is a noticeable difference in internal temperature. I finish my burger happy with the burger I have been served. This is the part I was less than thrilled about. The waiter brings us our tickets and informs us that he took 30% off of our order. Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate reducing our bill in light of what happened, but I feel there are certain circumstances where the establishment should feel obligated to compensate the entire bill. Serving something raw to the customer that should never be raw is one of those circumstance. Especially when that thing has raw pork included in it(menu states that burgers are a mixture of pork and beef). Now, I’d like to explain a little as to why I was so conflicted. To me, I had two extreme experiences; great service but poor quality food preparation. In the end, I had to look at the numbers. Out of 4 of us, 3 had raw burgers. That is, 75% of us were served food not fit for human consumption. That is just simply unacceptable. It is a safety issue. You cannot endanger your patrons. That is why I have decided to write this review. It is also the reason I’ll never be going back to Grind.

I’m so in love with this place or maybe I should say I’m in love with their burgers. The Homestead is at the top of my list and really is something worthy of writing home about. No pun intended. After you have experienced a burger with a fried egg on top, you will never be able to have another burger without at least wishing it had an egg. The Grinds rendition of this burger is on point and one of the best I’ve had. It’s the unexpected match in burger heaven. The Grind consistently delivers a perfectly juicy burger with the perfect combination of condiments and toppings. Whenever we are craving for a good burger, this is our go too spot. They make them better than we can make them at home. And if a killer burger isn’t convincing enough they have equally delicious fry sides to pick from, and even some tater tots. Genius. Complete with a full bar, ummm enough said.

I ordered the Foothills burger(medium) but the burger came out to be more in the well-done side. I would ask for medium-rare to get the best cooked burger(hopefully). Amazing selection of Fries and Onion Rings. Honestly, I feel that their claim as the best burger in «Treasure Valley» is a little bit over-rated since they cannot cook the burger. right. I would recommend going to Boise Fry Company for a better burger & fries in Boise.

As a little background, I’m not a huge fan of burger. I came in for dinner on a weekday and it was pretty busy inside, but there’s no waiting line. My friend and I were promptly seated. I ordered DMZ burger with asiago garlic fries as the side. Wow, was the portion BIG! One huge burger and a pile of fries. I was confused because I didn’t really taste the kimchi, and my friend pointed out that the menu says«kimchi style slaw» but not the actual kimchi. The braised beef rib was delicious, I really enjoyed the Saigon sauce. The fries were just OK, nothing special. Overall, I might come back but I don’t see myself craving for the food here.

Beer, burgers, snack and ghost pepper as part of their menu! Yeah! Happy hour was a better deal when they first opened, but still there is a deal on the beer. The burgers are pretty tasty and lots of delicious options. Once you get the hang of the menu, its fun to try different things. The beer is tasty — i’m mostly into wheats, but i like it and if i’m feeling girly i can add a flavor! They are willing to forgo the bun if i’m in a weird paleo/wheat free mood and help with options as well. It’s one of our goto places when we visit boise for work!

I’ve been here a couple of times now with my family. It is really good. Nothing crazy about the restaurant itself. It’s quite big inside and seems clean and modern(fitting). The burgers are juicy and delicious. I like all of the sides I’ve had as well. Pricing is okay, not cheap — but not obscene(The Counter). Service both times I’ve been has been great and friendly. Highly recommended if you like a burger!

Oh man, this was a fun find! We were riding our bikes on the green belt and decided to stop at a place we haven’t been to. The bar is in direct connection to Post Modern Brewery, which I was happily surprised. We went on a Tuesday, so it wasn’t busy. The bartender greeted us right away and showed is the recent beers they had on tap. Their Oktoberfest and porter were delicious! They also made an Irish stout which was 100x better than Guinness! Yum! The food was amazing and I love their version of the onion rings! The staff was super friendly and my husband even knew a couple people working there. It was a very cool place. Love the food, the staff was awesome, and the beer is cold!

I want to give this place two stars for food, but there are some things I need to say(which explain the three star review). First of all, we didn’t try a burger. That’s like going to a pizza joint and giving it a two-star review because we didn’t like the salad. Secondly, the service was outstanding and I could not bash those kind ladies and gentlemen who were so helpful and attentive. Anyway, on with the review… The ambiance was weird. The inside is clean, cold, sterile and brightly lit. This is pretty much the opposite of the warmth and comfort I used to feel in Table Rock(can’t help but compare the two). Sitting in the middle of the main dining area, we felt exposed and on-display(maybe that’s our perfectly healthy paranoia kicking in). Service was great. No complaints there. Plus, Postmodern breweries beers rocked hard(see separate review). The food was really, really forgettable. Of the three appetizers we tried, the garlic fries were the best. The aioli was a little on the lackluster side, but the fries were nice and crisp. However, they came out cold and the asiago cheese wasn’t close to melted or even heated. This caused scallions and cheese to fall right off of the fries, forcing you to use a fork or something to scoop up the cheese. We also tried the ahi tuna skewers, which were difficult to taste because the bites were so tiny. They were literally difficult to taste. For $ 12, we had six cubic half inch bites of tuna, making it hard to get a handle on flavor. This came with a cucumber salad which, in truth, was one continuous piece of cucumber(cut into a spiral). When we tried to pick one bite up, the entire wad of cucumber lifted and kind of made a mess on our table. We learned to cut the cucumber. All-in-all, not worth the cost for us. Finally, the South American inspired shrimp wraps were a culinary disaster. The bib lettuce was surprisingly bitter and overpowered the weak flavor of the shrimp slop. The shrimp slop contained shrimp, some veggies and a chimichurri. However, the chimichurri separated, so there was a big, watery puddle at the bottom with the pile of shrimp and dry veggies on top. It didn’t taste good and nothing really held this dish together or made it into a coherent whole. Again, I know we kind of missed the point by not ordering a burger. We will definitely do so next time. So my three-star review is something of an average. 1 to 2 star food, 3 to 4 star service, 1 to 2 star ambiance /execution. I err on the side of caution, because I don’t want an overly negative review to impact the restaurant or peoples’ perception of it. I say try it for yourself, but for me, this was another example of a place being over-hyped and my expectations of the food going way up.

Ate here cuz my daughter was starving and it was the closest place. I hate modern everything, so I’ve never been drawn in. The food was insanely amazing. The fries were flavorful and seasoned properly, and the burgers were juicy. I hate red meat, but wow!!! They also make ginger actual beer, which tastes identical to ginger ale, and root actual beer, which tastes identical to root beer, but has alcohol in it! Got there at happy hour and they gave me a gigantic glass full of it, no way would I have been in shape to drive, walk, or parent after, so I only had like 1⁄3 of it sadly, but you have to try it!!! Best most refreshing thing I’ve had on a warm almost summers day. This place is what Boise fry company tried to be, but failed. If you’re in the mood for sit down avant garde burgers, this is the place for you.

Oh my! Best burger I’ve ever had here in boise. They did a fantastic job on handcrafting the patties and fries. And the whole experience it’s just refreshing! I originally dislike burger because of its association with fast food culture. But they’ve repainted the picture in my mind. Now I really love the experience and I do appreciate their concept approach on ‘quality over quantity’.

Checked this place out after reviewing on Unilocal!Definitely was impressed! My friend and I went in on a Sunday evening. The atmosphere was trendy and modern(hence the name) and the staff, both host and server, were very friendly. They were somewhat understaffed so we had to wait a little longer than expected but it wasn’t a bother. We both ordered beef burgers, the asiago fries, and side salad. Everything was outstanding! The toppings were definitely different then most burger places with their sweet pickles, tomato confit, and their grind sauce. I was hesitant about the alternative toppings, but they proved savory and wonderful! The only downside was that the burgers don’t include any sides such as fries or salad unless you want to pay up, and they charge $.50 per added topping to your burger. This makes for a spendy meal if you are hungry and want to enjoy and loaded burger. Overall, this place has a unique tasting burger and a trendy atmosphere.

So as the Duke of Grind(catchy title eh?) I should probably write a review. We stumbled onto this place at the recommendation of a friend. I was not a fan of the brewery that occupied it before hand but I am always willing to try new things. I love the concept it is very modern, and open inside with a hip vibe to it. The food is great, the burgers on the menu are excellent and there is something to suit most palettes. The daily grind is the real treat. In the 10 times we have been there I have done the daily 7. Once in a while the option doesn’t ring my bell but otherwise its an extremely unique and always(hence daily) changing option. My wife gets the sweet potato tots and I enjoy the onion petals. The drink menu is fantastic with some plays on old favorites, home brewed adult root beer and adult cherry limeade. My only complaint about that is I didn’t know about them till my 9th time there. The reason they get 4 stars is it seems about 50% of the time the service is so so. You sometimes have to ask for water or soda refills when that is something I am pretty used to. Other than that, cool concept unique burgers and a fun vibe.

Great vibe! Very contemporary and has good feeling as soon as I walked in! Very high expectations from reading all the reviews. Service. Freindly! Our server was so enthusiastic about the restaurant and over the top about explaining the drinks(beer) and the food! Food. Burgers looked so good. But were only ok. And the sweet potato tots were not something we would get again or recommen. The toppings on the tots were good. The seasoned fries were also just ok. The ketchup must be made in house and it was super good. So over all the food did not do it for me. Not bad just not what I expected. Beer. I asked to try a few samples of their house made beers. Like the root beer and the ginger beer. The root beer was grrreat! And the ginger beer is unbelievably awesome! It’s not a beer you could drink a lot of at one sitting because of how sweet it is, but this is a MUST try for everyone!!! This ginger beer would make the best Moscow Mule of all time! I can’t wait for a hot day in Boise so that i can go back and drink this refreshing beverage! Not sure I can wait that long! And the server did say that growlers are filled up for $ 6 bucks on Sundays!

Decided to do an update based off of several more visits. Food is still great and I love the atmosphere. It’s great seeing them so busy. My biggest complaint in my previous review is now fixed. The parking lot across the street now gives free parking to grind customers. Huge relief for the business and its customers. Highly recommended.

Wow, the service at Grind is laughably bad and the food is nowhere near good enough to make up for it. We attended a birthday dinner with 10 people on Monday evening. It was the first time most of us had been in. We had long, long waits after ordering drinks. One person in our party was given a wine glass with lipstick prints all over it. When he brought it in a clean glass, she discovered it wasn’t even the wine she ordered. The waiter forgot what beer I ordered and returned to ask me THREETIMES. We all thought the cocktails were pretty bad – overly sweet, unbalanced, gross. When taking our food order, the waiter literally forgot one of the couples sitting at the table and just walked away. When attempts to flag him down were unsuccessful, someone had to go stand at the bar yelling to get his attention that two people in our party had somehow been forgotten. The service was a serious disaster and we were straight up laughing about it by the end. Food was mediocre. Burger was just okay – if you have«burger» in the name of your restaurant, you should serve AMAZING burgers. The sweet potato tots are suuuuper sweet. Wouldn’t order them again. We asked to have the«sauce flight» for $ 1, which was initially forgotten. When it came, it was this bizarre plate with four identical looking sauces. Seriously unappetizing and strange.

Will we go back? You bet. There is still wood to chop for service protocol(as in getting the food out of the kitchen without overly long waits even when the restaurant isn’t busy) and finesse in the dishes. One expects hiccups in a newish place(open only a couple of weeks). There were more pros than cons here. The greeting at the door was warm welcome, the server was knowledgeable and cordial, the menu was intriguing(even for we who lean to vegetarian), the food was good, the ambiance was industrial hip but still comfortable and the prices were reasonable considering the entire dining experience. VIBE High black ceiling, industrial minimalist interior. I loved the white cloth napkins with beet colored striping. Surprisingly comfortable seating at spartan looking tables and chairs in the dining room which is separated into two parts. Left of the door as you walk in is main space, right of the door is smaller space(which should be great seating in summer as a garage door there will roll up). Bar is straight ahead with two circular booths and the remainder of seating all high perch seats at high tables. «All people are welcome» vibe was a happy surprise from the«hipster central» I was expecting. We saw people of all ages, from kids through seniors, and all walks of life come in during the roughly 75 minutes it took for lunch. Both my hubby and I noted how many were«the guys who lunch» in groups of all ages as the place started to fill as opposed to «the ladies who lunch» one might find at some other venues. MENU See photo. Menu included a few apps(roughly $ 4 — $ 10) and salads(roughly $ 7 — $ 14) and sides(around $ 5 or under) but the focus is on burgers. In addition to the specially aged beef used in the ground beef burgers in creative combinations($ 12 ish) there were also chicken, salmon and vegetarian options(around $ 10 ish). Libations(on back of the menu) include beer(the focus here), a modest list of decent wines by glass(between $ 7 and $ 13 each) and speciality cocktails($ 7 to $ 9 ish as I recall). Coffee is local Dawson Taylor. FOOD We shared Asian chicken lettuce wrap app($ 9), the beet-veggie burger($ 10) and buttermilk panna cotta($ 6). We’d order them again even though there were some ‘needs work’ surprises in all the dishes. As example, the chicken dish(it is ground chicken, btw, like Thai larb not diced chicken more like Chinese restaurant wraps although the menu didn’t make that clear) was nicely flavored and served hot, But with Bibb lettuce leaves that while fresh and dry(good things) were too delicate to stand up to the filling and wilted and wilted apart to need knife and fork to eat. The beet-veggie burger was earthy — flavorful and served on an excellent Gaston Bakery bun with top notch mustard and fresh onions, But the patty fell apart making it difficult to eat. The panna cotta had good buttermilk flavor and was just sweet enough, Yet it had too much gelatin in it to be the barely set delight that we’re accustomed to from the many panna cotta we’ve sampled everywhere. There was even a little layer of gelatin on the top which is not a good thing. VALUE I note some reviewers think the price is too high for burgers, but you get what you pay for in the quality of the ingredients here. Still, it is a good expectation to set that if you’re looking for a bargain burger joint, this isn’t it. This is a quality place with prices that are fair with that in mind from my perch. As grounding example, our meal for two without beverages was $ 25.00 before tax and tip. SERVICE Service process here is something on which I hope they’ll focus. It was easy to see in looking at the layout of the space how the protocol for servers from order taking to placing the order with the kitchen to getting it delivered to the table was made awkward. Also one wonders if the kitchen might be too small or under staffed given how long it took for orders to make it to table even when the place was less than half full. THIS N THAT: 1) ACCESSIBILITY: Level in and throughout. Standard height seating in restaurant. Only high perch seating in bar; problem(equal access means to in bar seating too — ask my young disabled vet friends about that) that could easily be corrected by swapping out a couple of high perch tables with standard ones. 2) PARKING: On street. Not sure if lot across is public or private. 3) HAPPYHOUR: Yes. Discounts on apps 4p — 6p. 4) BREWFORIA: Around the corner. Connected ownership but not the same owner. It’s complicated. Shares hall and bathrooms with Grind. Grind kitchen also provides eats for Brewforia, we’re told, which might add to food delay issues when Brewforia is open.
