A Place Like Home

My rating of 3 stars is a bit generous. The place is cute. It’s the kind of place we expected to find in Maine and we didn’t find the décor because it added to the charm of the location. I went with a party of 5 which seemed to be way to many people for them to handle. There was one other couple there. I ordered blueberry pancakes which I was quite disappointed with. Maine is known for their blueberries but although fresh, my pancakes were runny on the inside. When I sent them back they put them back on the skillet but they were still not fully cooked. We all got our food at a different time because there is one «cook» who makes orders one at a time. The couple next to us who came after us got part of their order before us. There was one waitress and the menus were hand written and there was not many options at all. I liked the idea of a vintage homey cottage restaurant but they need to work on so many aspects. Invest in menus, buy real kitchen equipment to make the food and run a real restaurant. I hope that if I visit again this place would have improved because I like the idea.

My family just got off a boat ride and we were looking for a café. A Place like Home is just what it says it is. Comfortable, with soft music playing and a warm ambiance. The soup that day was a homemade beef chili that was absolutely delicious and my husband and daughter enjoyed an indescribably wonderful strawberry rhubarb pie. This is a light fare restaurant I look forward to coming back to whenever we visit the harbor. There’s wifi, too!!!

Gave this one star because zero not an option. Think pack rat grandmother who loves to craft. Weird setting among chatckees. My quilted placemat was dirty with crumbs from a previous diner. the OJ was water with a hint of orange flavor. Fruit cup very sad & the ham & cheese omelette was just that. No toast or home fries option and not even a lick of garnish. Overcooked on the bottom & runny inside. This place is creepy.
