We wanted a quick and small lunch and came across Mel’s! We were definitely not dissapointed. We ordered a plain, margarita pie. Since it is wood fired pizza it does take a little longer to cook which is my only negative point. But when the pizza came out it was so bubbly, toasty and delicious. We also ordered a whoopie pie for dessert. They bring the whoopie pies from another local bakery. I highly suggest you try one. If you want great service and delicious wood fire pizza than go to Mel’s!

Delish! Love wood fired pizza! Tons of beer available. Meatballs are homemade. Fave pizza so far is the Greek. Pesto, kalamata olives, feta, spinach, and I think onion. Really good.

Great place that you have to try. On our last full day in Boothbay Harbor, we needed a little something to get everyone through until dinner and I noted that I had seen Mel’s when last circling looking for parking in town. I walked in and right there in front was the wood-fired oven that I could smell. I asked what size pizzas did they have and they only do a 6″ and 12″ pizzas. Ok, but the price for the 12″ was what one would expect for a 16″ one, but hey it was right in the middle of town and we were tourists, so what’s a little priceiness between friends. And, the pizzas were really good, so not really upset about the cost. We got a plain(sorry, cheese pizza here in New England :-), a Margarita, and a Greek — which is our usual trio to try out a pizza place. Loved each one — crusts nice and crispy and the toppings good and fresh. I think that the Greek was my favorite, but the plain was fairly killer too. So, not a place to get a large number of pizzas from, but you shouldn’t pass Mel’s up if you are in town.

This place is awesome. The pizza was delicious, the sauce was fresh, the dough is crisp on the outside chewy on the inside, and the toppings plentiful. The owners are personable and the service is phenomenal. They even have a nice selection of local brews. We got a personal 6″ meatball parm which was super tasty and the tater tots are a MUST have. Come here and you won’t be disappointed.

Unexpectedly excellent pizza for a touristy coastal town. We’re on vacation and decided on something easy. They had a great beer selection while we waited in the shop for our takeout order. The pizza had a nice crispy, floury thin crust, cooked perfectly in front of us by the talented staff. We got a variety of meat toppings, all of which were delicious. Even our picky 8 year old was very happy. Some of our party thought it was lacking in sauce somewhat, but that’s a common characteristic of wood fired pizza.

My husband and I are vacationing in Maine and found ourselves in Boothbay Harbor. The hubs tells me he has a serious craving for pizza. I remind him that we are not in our native NY but in Maine and that we are NOT going to get authentic pizza in Maine. The hubs insists we try it anyway and we decide on Mel’s Place. I grudgingly order the meat lovers pizza and await the disaster that i know is going to be served. The waitress brings the pie over and i slide a slice onto my plate snd the hubs’ plate. First bite… pure heaven. Wood fired pizza done perfectly. Crust is perfect, sauce is not too sweet and perfectly seasoned. Big chunks of ham, sausage and delicious meatballs among slices of pepperoni. Each and every bite was crunchy and delicious. Vacation is almost over, going back to NY in 2 days – but first we’re going back to Mel’s to get a few more pies – who knew this native NY’er would find the best wood fired pizza in Maine. Great job Mel’s!
