Seafood gumbo was good. Counter service fast and friendly. My sons Mac and cheese was really good. All in all good experience and will be back.

Fantastic. Catfish Lafitte, catfish filets on rice smothered in crawfish etoufee was as good as I ever had. Gumbo good but I would prefer it with okra instead of file. Fair prices and large portions. It was love at first bite.

My first time and last time eating here. I ordered several things including the bread pudding. I don’t think the bread pudding was cooked.

Went based on Unilocal reviews. Gumbo and étouffée were just ok. Very good constancy, but the flavor profiles were off. The étouffée tasted more like Indian Curry. Very kind service and family friendly dining environment.

The chicken gumbo is alright. It would have been better to maybe have someone check in on is while dining in. My friend and I were there for an hour, the girl dropped our food off and walked away without saying a word and never came back to see if we needed anything. Those girls could be making tips. The service wasn’t that great. But I’ll be coming back for the food

Sweet tea is great, jambalaya is great, corn bread was a little bland and the red beans and rice were a little bitter due to the use of bay leaves.

My husband and I were moving our daughter to college and came here because of great Unilocal reviews. We were not disappointed! We got the Seafood Sampler. Crispy fried catfish, oysters, hush puppies, shrimp, crawfish and more. Sweet tea: fantastic! Not bad price, staff super friendly. Ambiance was casual fun, with Cajun/wildlife/LSU memorabilia on the walls. If you’re looking for a great, quick meal, you can’t go wrong with Gumbo to Geaux.

Well worth the drive!!! Fantastic gumbo. We even took a pint to ‘geaux’. Étouffée was sold as were the grilled shrimp. Friends that were with us also greatly enjoyed the boudin balls. We would love to come back.

The best! We found this little gem the 1st week we moved to Shreveport. I’ve had the shrimp creole, which is good, but the gumbo is excellent! We go there once a month & get a gallon & take it home to freeze, so we basically have their gumbo once a week & it never disappoints. Love it!

If first impressions matter, we would have walked out. As mentioned, located in a strip mall, with interior to match. As we walked in the cook was involved in an ice tossing match with the cashier. Sure, it was slow with only one table occupied on a Saturday night, but it reminded me of the next episode of Restaurant Impossible. As we walked to the cashier I stopped to select beers from the fridge and saw there were 8 beers. No, not eight brands, eight bottles total with a choice of 2 light beers. Pay attention to the posted menu and order the ½ Po-boy and gumbo. We ordered the full Po-boy(with fries and the small gumbo and took the gumbo home with us. The gumbo was good, the oyster Po-boy was over dressed to the point of being served on soggy bread. Would I go back? Not if I could find a place with oysters on the half shell without an hour wait. From our visit, it looks like more customers take out that eat in.

Stopped by here on my way back to home so I would miss 5 o’clock traffic when I got into Houston. It was worth it. I went during an off time, only a few other patrons in the establishment with me. There were ample employees. When I arrived a few where just chillin out front, and followed me in to take my order. I took me a while to decide, they have a great selection of Cajun fare. The food was made fresh and tasted great. I will definitely stop by if I am every in Shreveport again.

I think I had high hours for this place and it just didn’t do. I ordered the fried oysters with sweet potato fries. The fries were good and the oysters were fresh. The hush pups… no bueno. I’ll just order from long johns. And the gumbo, thumbs down. I’ll stick with the stuff I can get back home in Cali. I should have known better when my brother said he had it and refused to order it. Atmosphere wise the place is what I expected. Nice, clean and bayou themed. I for sure knew I was in Louisiana. It was a great place to catch up with my brother.

Pretty good casual Cajun place. We had a Cajun jambalaya($ 10.99), and a $ 7.99 bowl of seafood gumbo. Good quality, but overall still a bit pricey for the casual self serve setting and plastic and styrofoam service(though not atypical either for the area). A Budweiser beer can be had for $ 2.25 — no complaints there.

Honestly, I have not had a bad meal here yet. Great cajun cooking. Staff is always nice. I recommend the Boudin balls!

Was in Shreveport for a weekend casino visit, wanted some gumbo while I was in town, and Gumbo to Geaux was in the neighborhood. They’re located in a strip mall with a well-known local pizza place, Johnny’s, and you’ll easily bypass them if you don’t know what you’re looking for. Wanted to kinda sample everything they had… so a got a small portion of crawfish étouffée & the chicken/sausage gumbo, along with a shrimp po’boy, hushpuppies, and cajun rice. Yep… was having a fat guy moment, overindulging while out of town: o) The gumbo was thin, made from a very dark roux, and loaded with meat… very good. The po’boy was massive(didn’t know this going in), and filled to the brim with tender, golden fried shrimp. Had it dressed, and after hunting for a little plastic knife, managed to finish just under half of it. The cajun rice is just dirty rice… thick, creamy, seasoned well. The étouffée was disappointing… dunno if I got a bad batch or what, but it was damn near flavorless. Enjoyed my trip, left full as a tick, and KINDA wished I lived closer than 3.5 hrs away. I saw this mountain of jambalaya they were serving as the special, and the Crawfish Louisiana looked great as well…

I stopped here on my trip across the country because I saw that I had good reviews. I wouldn’t say that it was awesome, but it was alright. I ordered the crab stuffed shrimp and fried mushrooms. I really enjoyed the mushrooms. They were fresh and juicy, I really enjoyed them. The crab stuffed shrimp wasn’t all it was cracked up to be. They took a tiny little shrimp, a little bit of crab and a whole lotta breading, fried it and called it crab stuffed shrimp. I couldn’t eat more than one because I knew that it was a stomach ache waiting to happen. It is fairly cheap though and you get a good amount of food for the money.

Great place for lunch or dinner. Daily lunch specials available. My favorite is the crawfish louisiana, my least favorite is the fried catfish. Of course the gumbo is great too!
