Overall, this place is great. Upon sitting down, they’re on coffee detail and are on top of refills. The«eggs your way» with the corned beef hash is my favorite. Their corned beef hash is out of this world. The wait staff is very friendly and welcoming. I’m from out of town but always make a point of coming here fore breakfast at least once per visit. This is the best breakfast place in Charlestown.

Nice people. Good coffee and good muffins. They were shorthanded which I understand. I had a corned beef hash and cheese omelette. It was burnt and bland, didn’t taste very good. I was impressed that the corned beef was real and clearly made on site the right way. They gave my wife the wrong omelette but offered to discount our check and then made her a whole new omelette without her asking. That was nice and she loved the omelette. I will try this spot again with hopes that it’s better but I was disappointed with this first trip. The staff is friendly which goes a long way!

I love coming here for breakfast. I drive here at least once a month to get my fix. The on letters are big but not overstuffed, the cappuccinos are deli ships, and they give you the nice butcher cut bacon, not the wimpy stuff you would find at other places at the same price point. The only con is that the service is slow. It isn’t when I get the food. It’s to place my order. The last few times I’ve sat at my table for 10 – 15 minutes before my server came up to ask what we wanted to drink, and then another 10 – 16 min before I put my order in. So it can take up to a half hour from the time you sit down until you get your food. It’s the only thing that prevents me from giving them 5 stars

This place is just great… warm friendly staff… great muffins. It’s one of the only places left in Charlestown that offers real Townie experience… in my opinion it’s the Townies that make Charlestown !! Ask for Lynn… she is delightful !!

On a jog this past Saturday, I was hit by amazing brunch scents emanating from Grasshopper Café. as soon as I got home, I made plans to eat there Sunday with my boyfriend. What a great spot! My nose did not mislead me– both of our breakfasts were delicious! Great atmosphere, very friendly staff, and tasty food. I’m looking forward to our next visit!

EXCELLENT! We ate breakfast there twice during our visit to Boston. Terrific, fresh food and nice staff. Reasonable prices and large portions. Only open for breakfast and lunch, so be there before 2PM.

We just moved to Charlestown and came in here for breakfast. The food was excellent and the service was even better. We’ll definitely be back.

Great location(free weekend street parking and nestled in the heart of Charlestown), tasty breakfast foods(enjoyed an egg, cheese, and sausage breakfast sandwich with home fries – under $ 10!), and very friendly wait staff. «Small town diner» charm cannot be beat, they treat you so well it made me feel like I’d been going there for years. Will definitely return and recommend for an affordable breakfast/brunch in the city!

We’re from Phoenix and thanks to Unilocal found this gem! Husband and wife team own the café and work behind the scenes too. We had a nice chat with the wife and the hubby stopped by our table several times. Jill was our awesome server and breakfast was so yummy! And you must have an iced coffee while you’re there or get it to go… snicker doodle was delicious! Thanks Grasshopper!

Very slow. We were only one of four tables. Food not very tasty. I wish we did not eat here.

I’ve lived in Charlestown for 2 years and first time here. Probably a good thing considering had I discovered this sooner whatever diet I would have been on would have been blown. Sat at the counter. Lynn calls me by my first name. Had the Townie French Toast which is dipped in Baileys. They have every flavor coffee you’d want.

I recently moved to Charlestown and was hoping to find a great neighborhood breakfast spot, this will not be it. The food was average and the service was indifferent, if not on the rude side. We asked for the check and then waited at least 10 minutes to receive it even though there was only one other table in there.

I normally don’t eat omelets, but I decided to try the Hash and Cheese omelet. I was not disappointed! It filled me up quite nicely, and it was reasonably priced at $ 10. The only negative I experienced was that the waitress was not attentive to us.

Indifferent service. Could not even get one refill on a 2⁄3 full cup of coffee and waited over 20 mins for a check. Eggs were hard and greasy. Breakfast potatoes were great only reason for two stars. Don’t bother with this place absolutely not worth the walk or wait.

Just had breakfast here. Food was average. However, what blew me away was their pricing policy. I had 3 eggs with bacon, potatoes, & toast. Menu price: $ 7.99. Got the bill & it said $ 8.99. Thot it was an error but no. Waitress pointed to a lttle notice at bottom of menu that said prices subject to change. She says owner buys everything fresh & prices vary. I have seen this often in resraurants for meat & seafoods but not eggs. My wife had same thing but with 2 eggs & she paid the menu price of $ 6.99.Thats like going to Starbucks & ordering a menu drink listed at $ 1.99& being told price of beans went up today so you would be charged 50 cents more. BADBUSINESSMODEL! Do they charge less when price of eggs go down? I doubt it! When I went out the dorr I asked girl at counter about it & and she was somewhat condescending, calling me honey. I will never go there again.

As a resident of San Francisco I know good brunch. This place is better than most places I’ve been to in CA. Owners and staff are hands down the best around!

Pros: awesome staff, great neighborhood egg joint ambience, great home fries. Cons: we expected a little more from the food based on reviews. Eggs were dry, sausage was cold, most ingredients tasted really generic.

Almost unreasonably expensive. A regular breakfast for two should not come to almost $ 40.

This place gets my positive review on their food but also the way they treat their customers. We came in on a Tuesday morning for a quick breakfast before we dropped off our guests at Logan. We parked right in front no problem at this time and got a seat right away. We ordered normal breakfast items; eggs, bacon, toast, potatoes etc. All of it tasty and well done. No issues with it. The server was nice too and spoke spanish which helped our party since we all speak spanish too. Toward the end of our meal a small group of kids came in with a teacher and sat down. They were all given an order of pancakes. As we overheard, they are students of the month that are treated by the owner of the restaurant on a monthly basis at no cost. I don’t know if this is all true but it seemed like it and all the kids loved it. That, to our group, took it over the top as a place we would recommend. They seem like good people. The place is also clean and well kept as well. No issues here.
