Favorite restaurant in the city! Have never had a bad meal here. Bring everyone i know to try it out and they all love it too! It is cash only, but that’s a small price to pay(sorry) for such outstanding food. My favorites are the chicken biryani, albaloo polo, chicken kabob, steak kabob and chicken curry over rice.

I’m Iranian, and this is HANDSDOWN my favorite Iranian restaurant in Boston. I actually live in Cambridge(around the corner from another Iranian restaurant) but come to Boston for Moby’s. It’s consistently delicious! Get the chicken(joojeh kabob) or steak(kabob barg) sandwiches. You can’t go wrong with them. They’re both always perfectly cooked to order. The saffron drink is also delicious! My grandmother used to make us a drink like it when I was little but I haven’t come across it anywhere else. Thank you for being my taste of home in Boston :)

Should have listened to the previous bad reviews on this place! Its a total scam! Plate of rice and 4 pieces of chicken for 25 $ and they gave us ranch dressing next to it as white sauce! Never getting this place aggain! If u want good kebabs with reasonable prices try kolbeh in cambridge.

They have the best chicken biryani I have ever had in my entire life. I come here every single week and I have never once been disappointed. Highly recommend this place!

I like this place, but as a hungry student I can’t afford to come here often. Portions are rather small, but usually pretty yummy. I’ve been twice these past two years(indication on prices) having the lamb stew once and the chicken curry. Both dishes being decent, I really enjoyed the curry. I will only return if I crave their personal drinks or maybe the curry and have worked extra hours in previous weeks. All in all I think I would not go out of my way to recommend this place to anyone.

this place is PURECRAP. The owner is a very mean looking woman and she charged me $ 40 for plate of rice and meat and side order of yogurt!)lousy food, awful customer service. NEVERAGAINMOBYDICK, never.

This is place is unfair because I live in another state and crave one dish of their’s CONSTANTLY! Albaloo polo aka sour cherry chicken is perhaps one of the best dishes I’ve ever tasted. Ever. I almost want to write a haiku about it it was that yummy It was savory. It was sweet. It had rice and chicken and sour cherries and this yogurty ranchish sauce that rocked my Earth. I’m scouring the internet trying to find something like this where I’m at but one thing is for sure, it just won’t be the same! You must try it! My best friend orders this at least once a week and she will never jump off that wagon(unless she moves, and she’ll be in the same jaded state I’m in).

Moby dick is a nice change from all the other cuisines in the symphony neighborhood. Moti makes an amazing saffron drink that is a cannot miss! Overall, the prices are steep and you can only pay by cash which is annoying. They tend to run the restaurant as and how they want with funny operating hours and an irrational staff attitude, somedays they are in a really bad mood and some days really good vice versa. I mostly go there for the lunch specials which are priced reasonably. Always ask for white sauce!

Best Middle Eastern food. Worst service. Told my 12-year-old brother to make his mind up when he changed his order to «no rice» and ripped out the receipt from the register violently, while telling us to hurry up because«we close soon» at 8:50pm. When I mentioned it said that they closed at 10:30pm on Unilocal, they blamed the internet for not knowing how«homesy» the place was, when they can clearly edit the page, but avoid doing so in order to attract more business. So the closing times are definitely variable…

It disappoints me to say that I won’t be coming here anymore. I like the food and have been coming to this place for about 4 years now but have been treated rather badly the past 2 visits. The first visit, I ordered chicken curry and asked for a side of white sauce(which I’ve been doing for months now with no issue – keep in mind, I ALWAYS tip). This time however, she appeared annoyed and informed that the white sauce is «chargable» and that she is doing me a favor by giving it for free. No problem there – I simply said«then charge me for it.» She quickly back-pedaled and said I could have it but maintained a bad attitude. I decided that I would still visit the restaurant but would neither request white sauce nor tip. Today, I went in at 11am(Sat. opening time), waited in line while the owner finished a phone call and was told that they were«still closed, the sign says closed». It’s a little misleading when the restaurant normally opens at 11 and the door is unlocked. I’d say that the food deserves about 3 ½ stars, but the service is poor at best: two stars.

Had only vegetarian, specifically the kebab sandwich and chilli lentil over rice. Both were good and had a bit of spice too, which is good. The staff could be a bit friendlier, but they do the job well. And the ambience need a little work. Also they don’t accept any types of cards, which is a bummer for me. All in all, good place to satiate your middle eastern cravings.

Just ok! I HV had their rice over chicken and lamb over rice! Just okay. Lamb over rice was very oily not that deliciius . Their creamy garlic sauce is probably the only good thing.

Moti makes some of the best food I’ve ever had. It’s always fresh, delicious, and organic. It’s easily the best restaurant on Huntington and the best Persian restaurant in the city. I’m giving only four stars because the prices are somewhat high and it’s cash only. Seriously though: go here.

Iranians around the world would have heart attack if they know this restaurant is serving this food in the name of Persian cuisine! Weird recipes. Very poor quality.

Won’t go back. Both dishes tasted the same and was too expensive for the amount of food. The owners were nice enough, but they only take cash and their menu online is different from what we found in store

Moby Dick’s… where do I start. I got take out from you folks every day while I was in college. I truly enjoy your beef kabob wrap and your greeek salad. I came here yesterday for some take out since we were in the area. It has been 2 years since I have eaten with you. We noticed that the beef kabob wraps were all peta bread. I was fishing for some substance and I was not satisfied. What happened!?? I feel like the prices went up and quality of food went down. None the less it was tasty, but I felt like I was eating a whole lot of Pita bread for no reason. I left sad and still hungry. I will be back… but I am still sad.

From the street you might not notice this small casual Persian restaurant, but it’s worth a visit. The service for takeout is pretty fast, I was prepared for the cash-only thing, thanks to other Unilocal reviews. I ordered the sour cherry chicken, an excellent polow with small pieces of beautifully spiced chicken mixed with saffron rice and sour cherries. Sometimes Persian cuisine can go overboard with the sweet fruit flavors, but that wasn’t the case here, this dish had a wonderful subtlety and the rice was fluffy and delicious. The portion was expensive at $ 14.95 but for me, not being a big eater, I reheated half the next day so it was two lunches. My order came with a kind of herbed yogurty-cheesy sauce that I didn’t really understand. Whatever kind of cheese it contained was very assertive and didn’t work for me with the beautifully balanced chicken so I ignored it. I think a little cup of plain yogurt on the side is almost always a good thing, and I would have preferred that. I also ordered the Mirza Ghasemi which was not successful, the garlic might have been singed, and there was so much of it I could not taste any eggplant or tomato. If I didn’t know it was an eggplant dish, I never would have guessed from eating it. It came with flatbread pita which fortunately is very plain and fresh, and worked well with the chicken instead. In the restaurant there are 2 deuces and 7 padded booths which can accommodate around 4 maybe 5, if you have more people than that you should consider takeout or delivery. The atmosphere is a step up from fast food: the lighting is a little softer and they play great classical music, maybe because they are near NEC and their clientele appreciates it? It’s not like a place you’d take a date before symphony or anything, but it’s not as unpleasant as a pizza or falafel joint. My experience was uneven but they rose to the challenge with the chicken polow so I am curious to go back and see what else they can do.

First words as I walk in the door: «Take out only!» Okay, but why are there people sitting down and eating, and you’re nowhere near closing? Then, they start rushing me to order something when I’ve never been there before, and I’m a bit indecisive. That’s a bit rude. I pull out a card and am told, «Cash only! Next time, goodbye!» Okay, put something up on the door or up on the counter that says so, like other places do. At this point, I don’t even care what your food tastes like. I didn’t feel welcome from when I walked in the door. Won’t be a «next time.»

Moti and Moby Dick need the help of Boston foodies. She consistently continues to serve some of the most delicious food in Boston. The recent blackout has had a tremendous impact on the restaurant — losing many thousands of dollars of food, and an insurance company that is initially refusing to honor her claim. Please join me in supporting Moti as she seeks to recover by: 1) Stopping by for a meal 2) Asking her how you can help to add your voice to those of us who are trying to get Travelers Insurance and NStar to do the right thing.
