Fake Italian food. Meatballs guaranteed to make you sick after. Go to café Porta Bella or even Broadway’s best still better Italian food. Disappointed time after time at sals

I Love the steak tip wrap. I add feta cheese, lettuce, tomato and onion. Five thumbs up for a quick sandwich

Sal’s is your typical neighborhood restaurant based in South Boston., on L St… Sal is a very nice man and I always see him around the restaurant and is very warm welcoming individual… I got the Louisiana seafood with pasta, and I thought it was just simple but effective… it totally filled the spot for a afternoon snack when i’m sitting in front of the tv

This is tied for my favorite place to order from in Southie(I flirt with Alfredo’s). Where shall I start? Their breakfast special comes with a ton of food(2 eggs, side of meat, bomb home fries and toast) and is only $ 5! I have zero shame admitting I have called in late to work(my boss must think I’m an idiot because my «car gets towed» all the time) just to take my time eating breakfast at Sal’s. Their dinner is just as amazing. Get the rice ball and thank me later. Their chicken broccoli ziti is awesome — just the right amount of sauce. I’ve branched out and tried the Uncle Silvio and like that as well(wish they’d offer in a kid size, but c’est la vie). I’m not a calzone person but hear they are to die for, as well. The only gripe is about their hours — come on Sal, you know I can’t cook and am hungover all the time. You’d make even more money off of me if you were open past 8 or more than 4 hours on Sunday, but I’ll still keep coming back because I love your food that much.

I just found out Sal’s delivered. When I think of all the time and meals I’ve wasted, it makes me crazy. I had the most delicious meatball sub. Plenty of sauce and grated cheese, as I requested, and no big chunks of tomato in the marinara sauce. The very fresh sub roll absorbed it beautifully. Is it wrong to order it two days in a row?

I’ve been eating Sal’s since I was a young kid and it was Sal & Betty’s. We used to walk up from working red shirts at the L and get a sauce bomb with cheese. That was pretty much what we could afford and we got to save our money for the weekends. We would get so excited if we got some chunks of meatball in our sauce bomb’s. Then we grew up and I still went to Sal’s but instead of sauce bombs, we splurged on the full meatball sub. I was back visiting family recently and walked down to Sal’s for old times sake. Although the name and look has been updated, the meatball subs are still just like I remember.

This used to be the only pizza place I’d go to in Southie. 2 months ago I ordered a Buffalo Chicken Pizza with no blue cheese because it makes me sick. They put blue cheese on it and once the cook and casher realized(in front of me, at the counter) they offered me a side of ranch as a courtesy. Not what I wanted. Tonight, I ordered a spinach and feta calzone — they delivered it and I immediately called because the dough was not cooked. The first person I talked to said he «cooked it himself» and it was cooked. He hung up on me. I called back. The second person I talked to said he «cooked it himself»(different guy) and that he would send me an «IOU» for the food. I’m boycotting all Sal’s now. They’re food is going down hill and their customer service is non existent.

3 stars for the prices, one star for the food. pasta with meatballs tasted like ketchup with a hamburger. Now what you expect from an Italian joint. I’m curious if the sauce is homemade… if it is, I would change the recipe ASAP. Service was fine, only had take out. Food was ready in 15 minutes.

Great spot on the Seaport. Came at lunchtime on a Friday and this place was jammin. Pizza is on point and subs are great! beware tho’ If you want one slice of pepperoni and one slice of supreme, you will get a half a pizza… so you’re out of luck 1 Sals«slice» is roughly the equivalent of 2 or more regular slices

Horrible low quality food. Just tried the chick parm sub — the roll was cheap tasting and not fresh. Throwing away a pizza after two bites. Gross.

Ordered the lasagna and it was the worst I’ve ever had. Came in a clear box container with two meatballs that tasted like they were frozen and then reheated. I had to go diving through a pile of tasteless sauce to even find something that resembled lasagna. I threw it out after two bites. A waste of $ 10…will not order here again.

Delivery was prompt… arancini is one of my faves and I suspect it would have been good if it wasn’t swimming in red sauce that was kind of «meh». The penne florentina was very greasy but yummy all the same. So, could be better, could be worse. I’ll probably order again, though the $ 1 delivery fee for like 5 blocks kind of deterrent…

The two star description says it all. I’ve experienced better. Better promptness in delivery and better customer service. My fiancé and I ordered a pizza at 6:24PM. We were told it would take 45 minutes. Still nothing after an hour. We called them after an hour and ten minutes(since Sal’s closes at eight) and inquired. We were told our pizza just left. Our mouths began to water as we imagined piping hot pizza traveling a mere 4 blocks to our apartment. But it was not to be. Sal’s called us at 8:00. Twice the wait time we were told. Apparently, they had«called us four times». No missed calls on the cell phones. Our doorbell never rang. And why the eff would someone at Sal’s tell us our pizza was out the door if someone had called us four times. Our pizza is now cold. Or lukewarm. First the person on the phone said cold, then lukewarm(my guess is because she heard me in the background griping.) Sal’s, I know your pizza is good. But it isn’t so good that I am going to excuse poor customer care. I don’t ask for much. Just warm pizza delivered to my door in a timely fashion. I’m sure one of the generic pizza joints on Broadway will do such a thing, and that’s likely where I will spend my pizza budget from now on. Still waiting for my lukewarm or cold pizza. EDITED: Two hours and fifteen minutes later we have a lukewarm mushroom and pepperoni pizza. Mediocre. And it was supposed to be HALF mushroom and HALF pepperoni. I’m a vegetarian guys. Thanks for nothing. We will not be ordering again. My two star review is now a one star review.

Best pizza I’ve had in a long time. My two favorites: Bacon Pizza and the BBQ Chicken Pizza. Big slices, piping hot and the most important part… it holds up under the toppings! No one wants droopy pizza. Crust is delicious… not over-cooked or too crispy. My pizza allegiance has changed… all hail Sal’s!

Exceeded expectations! Craving pizza in FPC but boycotting the alternative(local illegal immigrant slavers), I found Sal’s on Foodler: White Pizza: delicious crust, not too thick/chewy, not too thin/crispy, just right; really fresh tomatoes and spinach. A shot of red paper flakes and garlic salt would have put it over the edge! Greek Salad: large, fresh, no black olives but good even without. Forgot my soda, but were very pleasant, offering to return before giving me change, and I’m opposite a convenience, so not a big deal. 16″ pie for $ 10?! With so many wannabe haute cuisines around here, Sal’s prices were refreshingly reasonable! Most definitely repeatable!

The wife and I stop here often for dinner as we both work hectic schedules. The food is great, the atmosphere and staff is very friendly. I’m particular to their salads, but anything you order is just right. Worth the trip!
