Fascinating pork with bone. Sweet and fatty, smooth chewing, while combined with whiskey, exciting and enjoyable. In addition, the server gives us a table on the second floor that is quieter than that on the first floor.

My family and I ducked into the pub for lunch on a visit downtown. The food was a significant cut above typical pub food and the service was excellent. I had the lobster roll, the other entrees were a turkey club, kale salad with chicken, caprese chicken, hamburger pizza and a caprese salad. We all sampled each others food and pronounced it excellent. Our server, Alyssa, did a great job of keeping us hydrated. The bill was $ 177.

I came here with some friends for a few drinks and some late night grub. The beer selection wasn’t bad and our drinks were served quickly. I had a personal pizza that was fairly decent overall and what you’d expect for a local pub(especially an Irish one). It’s a average place overall and it’s close to a bunch of hotels, which is convenient. I’d recommend it if you’re staying nearby and want to grab a quick bite or a few drinks.

Perfect. For predrinks, or a low key fun night night out. Music eclectic, drinks a flowin’, yet calm enough to hold a convo. I would definitely recommend a stop in even if your just taking a stroll and shopping.

Sorry but total drama there. We were accused of doing a car bomb shot which we didn’t do. We were asked to leave. Totally lame. I grew up in Boston. This place is a fake Irish pub. The management is bizarre and on a total power trip. Every bartender and waitress was rude. Don’t go here.

Came in here for lunch from a wet & snowy day. There were not many other patrons in here, so the service was pretty good & speedy. The staff were all friendly and were helpful in regards to queries regarding menu items. I had the turkey club which came with fries. I can’t really put my finger on it, but it seemed to lack flavour — however the texture & taste if the Texas toast on the sandwich was so flavoursome It was a really weird eat. The location of the restrooms is also undesirable, being too far away from the bar & restaurant I believe.

Read Unilocal review and decided to try this place. The review write about a waiter named Kevin. We had him tonight. All praise for Kevin. The four stars are for him! Personable– knowledgeable-dependable. The food we had was good. Nothing to brag about here– based on what we ordered. Lost a star n rating because– disappointment that the kale salad– came nothing like it was described in menu. I did not say anything to Kevin the waiter and do not think his fault. Big pet peeve of mine to receive food– especially salads that are not served as they are described.

OK, God’s honest truth because I can hardly believe this myself… A YEAR later we visit again. I ask for Kevin to be our server, I show him an extremely positive review I have him a year early ANDHEREMEMBERSUS. SWEET! And then Kevin shows us his consistent quality service again. It was like coming home. He put a smile on our face and I got my pic taken w him. He’s going on my composite Christmas card. It was dreamlike.

Lunch with friend and we both had a draft Guinness and the fish and chips. The Guinness was as expected and the fish and chips was a little disappointing. The f/c came with a tiny bit of cole slaw, a healthy serving of good french fries(freshly prepared and nicely seasoned), and one rather large piece of fish(probably cod). The fish was lightly battered and not overly greasy fried — really good piece of fried fish — my complaint is that for $ 18 you should get more than one piece of fish. The server was very efficient and helpful. The bill for my lunch(with tip) was ~$ 25, which I thought was a little over-priced for what you got at Solas.

The food we ordered was average, fish and chips, bad fish sandwich. Our waitress was good tho.

Solas is an awesome Irish pub. The detail at the bar is beautiful and it has a small pub feel to it. The food is excellent. My only disappointment is that they changed their calamari!!! My girlfriend and I had been raving about the calamari with the honey and the peppers to all of our friends and when we brought a group of them SPECIFICALLY to show them the calamari we found out it had been switched to a newer«calamari steak.» While the calamari steak was decent, in our opinion it was not even close to the unique delicious flavor of the calamari they used to serve. Overall, one of our favorite pubs conveniently located inside he beautiful Lenox hotel at Copley Square. Ps. Please bring back the good stuff ;)

So tired after a long day of goofing around town. What a great find! I had the fish and chips which were delightfully crunchy and flakey! I was hesitant thinking it would be greasy but in no way could it be considered greasy. The fries wee also yummy! My sister had the Shepard’s Pie and found it lacking in veggies but made up for it with a side salad. She said the pie was«most succulent ». I would come back for sure. It was a bit noisy and not for kids but then we didn’t bring any. Loved it!

Another typical Irish pub, with seating inside and outside. Usually is packed inside, so if you don’t mind sitting outside you’ll have quieter atmosphere for sure. I only had beers here, local and Irish beers as usual. The service is good and fast, but beers are really pricey. You can find another cheaper pubs not to far from here. Inside the pub you will feel like inside an Irish pub, a central bar and some containerized tables, with Irish-inspired decoration.

I went here w a group, and the atmosphere was good. Waitress wasn’t overly attentive but we were also a talkative group so that’s ok. The clam chowder was very good, best part of my meal. The crab cake tasted kind of fishy so I only ate half of it(a rarity for me!). The salad was fine. Overall the meal wasn’t great, but the company I was with was fun so I didn’t really notice. If I was solo I would’ve been bummed though!

Just stopped in for part of a friend’s bar crawl. We were upstairs where there were lots of tables and some bar space also. The staff was very nice and the food came out quick. We got the french fries with cheddar, bacon, and green onions. The cheddar/bacon sauce comes on the side and is DELICIOUS! We probably could have ordered a whole extra plate of these for the 4 of us to snack on. The cobb salad was good as well, exactly what you expect. I’d definitely stop in again for those fries and sauce. Nice atmosphere, there is outdoor seating down stairs, and upstairs there are windows near the tables so it’s not too dark for some nice, happy day drinking/snacking.

First I would like to thank the fellow Unilocalers for helping me find this place. Thank you :) My boyfriend and I came to Boston for a spur of the moment weekend getaway. We left NYC around 830 and got to Boston around midnight. Well I’ll be damned, you guys shut down the city at 2AM. I like to see historical sights and go to hockey games and he likes to go to bars. I fail to understand why because in my opinion bottled beer tastes the same in every bar, but I love him and wanted to find a place I knew he would love. This was it. Again, thank you Unilocalers for making me the hero of the night. This was the perfect casual but semi-upscale Irish pub. Downstairs was jamming and I didn’t really check it out because I loathe crowds so we went upstairs and got a seat at the bar. The music was OK and the perfect volume which allowed you to enjoy it as well as have good conversation. I was very impressed with the bartender. He seemed to realize that tending bar is an art, not a job. My Kettle and Club was perfectly proportioned and I was watching him work and he actually poured Guinness the right way. He was working alone and able to serve people very quickly and wasn’t making a mess at all. John Taffer would love this guy. We decided to avoid our rookie mistake of hitting up the South St diner at 230 and had the brilliant idea of ordering food to go since the kitchen closes at 1. I wanted something incredibly basic but they don’t have incredibly basic food on the late night menu. He got sliders and fries. I got the potato chips because fresh potato chips are rare. Everything was very enjoyable. There were a couple of TVs and I kinda wish The Dark Knight had closed captioning on but it didn’t ruin my night or anything. The drunk guy who kept farting something rotten kinda did though.

I came to Solas on a Tuesday night before New Year’s once I realized I was getting stood up by a friend and I needed a drink quickly! Solas is a really cozy place and I’ve always liked the downstairs bar. You can either enter straight from Boylston Street or from the Lenox Hotel. I like the dark wood finishes. I really just wanted to be left alone at the moment so this was as good as it was going to get. The bartender was really nice and he kept the drinks coming. I’m pretty sure that after I started my tab with him, all I had to do was give him the thumbs up or a wink to indicate that I was ready for another beverage. For the most part, the bar seats turn over rather quickly. The crowd is really interesting. You have your fair share of tourists and hotel guests, but there is definitely a little bit of the corporate 9 – 5 crowd that frequents the bar after work. As long as you’re not drunk and obnoxious, you’ll be fine.

A great Irish pub in the heart of busy Boylston Street in the Back Bay neighborhood. It’s one of the few casual Irish pubs in Boston that take reservations on OpenTable. We showed up an hour early and got a table upstairs near the window. Staff was friendly and food was solid. The fish and chips were good portioned and fried well. Batter was just right, not too dense or light. Excellent with a Guinness. We will definitely go back next time we are back in Boston.

I’m glad I didn’t look at the reviews before coming here. I sat at the bar and had great service. Any place that serves Guinness on tap makes me happy. To eat, I had a bowl of the macaroni(sans ham). It was creamy and delicious. My friend had the turkey version of a Reuben and french fries. Also, very good. We split a salad. The vinaigrette dressing was on point. Overall, I was very happy with my trip to Solas.
