Summary: They steered me towards the wrong plan, admitted their mistake, and refused to give me a refund! Find yourself a different T-​Mobile store.
I came to this store to get a plan I could use for roaming with data when traveling internationally since T-​Mobile has great support for roaming with no additional fees. A salesperson steered me away from the $ 50 plan I identified that would meet my needs and told me a $ 50 prepaid account was what I really needed.
I came back to the store after reading the fine print that my new prepaid account would NOT support international data roaming. Store manager apologized but said T-​Mobile only allows him to give refunds of $ 50 per month and spending his monthly allocation of refunds on me all at once would put him in a tough spot! Wow!
I called customer support and explained what just happened. They were very helpful and told me to go to a different store to get the plan I should have gotten in the first place. Went to the store by the Stony Brook T stop and had a much better experience. T-​Mobile customer support then credited me for the prepaid account.
Moral of the story: Stay away from this Washington St. T-​Mobile location!

Spoke to some young guy who called everyone «boss.» I told him I wanted to get an iPhone set up under a current T-​Mobile line; same line, same number, just change out phone; he said he could do it; he went through the entire process (called 800 T-​Mobile line to upgrade me; opened a new data chip and installed it) then realized, at the end, that he forgot to ask if my phone had been «unlocked»; it hadn’t, something I was unaware of, and he had to backtrack; he canceled my service upgrade and put my original chip back in the phone. I had to leave and sort out the «unlock.» It doesn’t take a genius to know that should have been his very first question. Consumers do not necessarily understand the process and he should start from the beginning. Too interested in sounding cool and confident, boss; and not as interested in doing the job well. More training.
