well. this review has been sitting in my drafts, for months — seriously like 8 months. I don’t know what to even say. In short, the help is delightful. Nice people. The drinks, fine, no complaints. The food? I’ll never go back. I found the menu limited and the food awful. I wanted to like you, I really did… You’re so close to work, I was hoping for slammin chips/salsa, and a kick ass fajita platter. but alas… cheers!

Met V Spice here for a drink. Service was good, and so were the steak nachos. Beers are 22oz, and are pretty standard. Nachos were decent and didn’t disappoint — steak, cheese, and other yummies made it great. I didn’t like the salsa very much but I loved the guacamole :) You’d never guess there was a cantina at the South Station terminal until you come across this place. You can seat yourself outside or inside depending on your preferences. It’s the cool chill spot for a beer and bites before you catch your train or even just to hang out. ¿Una cerveza por favor?

Do not go past 9pm. The food is old and the kitchen closes at 10pm. My partner almost cracked a tooth with the rice from his burrito! Ridiculous. They knew the food was old and told us to definitely come back during the day. It’s a Mexican/Latin restaurant… They only had Country Music playing… Lame… Don’t bother getting a margarita it’s awful! Way to much Sours. Also, complimentary chips and salsa? NOT! Two tacos, choose a meat. One chicken, 1 pork please. That ain’t happening. One meat only. Lame as well. Lots to learn about running a Mexican Restaurant.

I love rubber chickens as a classic comedy gag. I do not love to eat them however. I ordered the enchilada lunch special with chicken and immediately started pulling chicken out of my mouth. I’m not sure how one makes chicken flavorless and inedible at the same time but these guys have figured it out. The staff was great but I really have to wonder why this place is still in business. I’ve attached a picture of the rusty plate my enchiladas came on, nasty.

I had the Al Pastor with pork belly and the Sweet and Spicy salsa. It was great. The pork belly was really tender and it melted in your mouth. The salsa was the perfect blend of sweet and spicy. They also brought the burrito cut in half so it wasn’t a congealed mess. The service was good. I had a side of fried plantains. There was a good crisp to them. The salty sweetness complimented the burrito well. It definitely exceeded my expectations for a restaurant that is part of a train station.

This is the worst food I have ever had. Guacamole is flavorless, the salsa and chips are from a can and bag– not made fresh at all. The chips were stale. Survive was good– but food disgusting.

I came here with a coworker after work while she was waiting for the commuter rail. I like the place. Cool décor. Cool vibes and the place was busy. I already forgotten what I ordered because it was not memorable but my friends margarita was excellent and I felt cheated almost. Lol The table next to us ordered nachos and they looked delicious. Will have to come back for those! I held back on 4 stars because even though the place was busy our waiter didn’t even stop to ask how the drinks were not ask if we wanted anything to eat and didn’t return with a glass of water and I had to ask for it twice. I’d definitely come back though.

Popped in while waiting for a train. Really enjoyed the food — El Cubano was great. Guac was tomato free(as it should be!). Manager came and chatted and made sure food was up to scratch and that an allergy was dealt with. Expected nasty station food — was pleasantly surprised.

I love a good Mexican restaurant and was excited to try this place when I saw it opened but I was also skeptical due to location being right in south station. It wasn’t the traditional Mexican I was hoping for but it was good. It’s small inside but comfortable, atmosphere is relaxed and service was great. Drinks passed my test, I’m fussy about my margaritas and it was really good. I tried the walking taco with al pastor pork belly and the pork was tender. It really does come in a bag of Doritos. I prefer homemade chips to Doritos but I give them credit for creativeness.

Food is absolutely phenomenal. I had a Carne Asad Burrito. It was magical! The salads come in whole heads of Romaine lettuce and they are grilled!

We came here a week ago after coming back from a trip. Very few people were seated, most were around the bar watching a football game. We started with Mexican Street Corn and Chips & Salsa. The Mexican Street Corn was not that great. It was my first time having it like that, so maybe I’m not the best judge, but I didn’t like it. We were told the salsas were homemade — they were great, we really liked them. I must say though, I haven’t heard of chips and salsa not being complimentary at a Mexican restaurant. Everyone knows the cost is baked into everything else, but still — the illusion of being free would be nice. My main was the B.L.T.C. Salad. I really liked the pork belly and the roasted poblano dressing in the salad, but the rest of the salad wasn’t good and the thought that went into it was lazy. They laid down a baked yellow tortilla, covered it with roughly cut romaine lettuce, sprinkled a small bit of corn and cilantro, and cut a large tomato into quarters. I’m not sure why they tout the tomato as being hot house — I guess it sounds nice but it just means it was grown in a greenhouse like every other tomato you see in a store… My bf got the Classic Tacos with Carnitas. He would have wanted to try several different meat options, but they have a lock on their menu — no customization, no mixing and matching, not even for an additional charge. The salsa is unlimited though. He said the tacos were good, but it would have been nice to mix and match. We also ordered two El Camino Margaritas. Both were way too sweet and simultaneously way too sour. It was not a good margarita. I don’t know about their other drinks, but I always order a margarita when I’m at a Mexican restaurant and this was not a good one. This restaurant is pretty new, so I’m hopeful they’ll take the criticism and make some needed changes to improve. They’re already doing some key things well — their meats are great, their salsas are great, and their customer service is great as well. The waitress was super chipper and checked in with us plenty. The space they have really feels like you’re not in a restaurant attached to South Station; they’ve done a really good job with the décor. I might be back in a month or so and see how they’re doing then… but honestly I’d probably go for a Mexican restaurant that I already know is good.

Nice to have an option at South Station besides the always-packed south side tavern. Occupies the ace where the old Clarks used to be. Got a drink and chips($ 3). Great prices on menu though didn’t have time to try anything other than chips. Very promising, will definitely be back for food when I have more time. After so many Mexican food disappointments in Boston, nice to have something at least resembling a taqueria!

Go for a drink, but not for the food… I ordered the Cuban sandwich with a side of their spicy slaw. The sandwich was cold, small, was not grilled as Cuban sandwiches typically are, and they forgot to give me the cole slaw — For for the price — $ 12 — was expecting it to be much better. Also, I looked at their menu here, and my receipt(which they email to you) and notice that they overcharged me for the side of slaw! The menu says it should have been $ 2 and they charged me $ 3. I know, not a huge difference, but given everything else, it just added to the situation. My boyfriend ordered two tacos and a side of guac — they forgot the guac. The chips were also stale, and they offered no salsa with them. Our server was really nice, which is the only reason why I still gave her a good tip. I get that they are trying to offer things that can be done quickly so people can catch their trains, but it is still possible to do things that are quick and have quality. Or, if they really just want to offer«bar food» to go with the drinks, then they should lower their prices and people will not have that high of an expectation. The place looks really cool, and its a nice space right in the station. It is fairly new, so hopefully they can improve. I’m a regular Amtrak passenger, and am in South Station a lot. I would really like to go back and try it again, even though this visit was disappointing.

The food the drinks oh my heaven! The atmosphere here is amazing. Not to mention Joshua is an amazing cook. I melted as soon as the food touched my taste buds. The drinks are strong and delicious. This place I will introduce all my friends too.

Cool new place, just opened. It is kind of strange to eat in the middle of a train station, but I’m open minded. I enjoyed my piña canela Margarita very much. It comes with a pineapple leaf and a nice piece of candied pineapple. I also got the avocado salad which was good, but weirdly served on a pan atop some sort of grilled tortilla thing. That made it a little difficult to eat. My friend got the taco in the Doritos bag. He loved the food, but not the random bit of a plastic spray bottle he found it in. Ew. Service was good and the food came out fast. Location could not be more convenient for commuters. Also the drink was not watered down, which was refreshing.

Popped in here to grab a bite to eat before my train. I asked the hosts if it was possible for me to do eat and get out within 20 – 25 minutes. They say yes, absolutely, and showed me in. A server showed up within one minute, had my order sent to the kitchen within seconds, and had delivered food to my table within five minutes. FIVEMINUTES. How is that possible? I barely had time to noodle around on my cell phone! I felt cared for, and like Tavitas’ staff did everything they could to make sure I caught my train. That’s very nice for a restaurant to do and it made me feel happy that I chose to eat there. Their menu is pretty varietous and very affordable, with their most expensive item being a Cuban that couldn’t have cost more than $ 12 – 13. The meat inside the Cuban was soft, melty and well-smoked. There’s only one wish I have, and I admit it’s because I’m a crazy hot head: I wish their hottest hot sauce was hotter. I found their green sauce to be pretty mild for me and it would be great if they had at least one face-melting sauce available for the crazy people like me!

GREAT new restaurant in south station! They’re quick so you can eat a decent meal while waiting for your train, but the food is still delicious. Great drinks and friendly staff. Perfect for commuters AND for others just looking for a drink/bite to eat. Tavern in the Square at South Station is across the way at south station and is also great, but nice to have variety.
