Always good for a quick, on-the-go meal for under $ 10. Salvaggio’s is Snarf’s meets Subway. A run-of-the-mill of sandwich shop with mid– to low-end ingredients conveniently located right in the middle of Pearl Street Mall. Quick service, decent sandwiches, reasonable prices.

Made my first return trip to Salvaggio’s today after almost 15 years. And yep. It’s still good. The bread is still awesome. That is all.

Ran a quick errand on Pearl and realized I was starving and totally craving a breakfast sandwich. Stopped to see if Salvaggio’s does them, and lo and behold, they do!(Why are grab-and-go egg sandwiches so rare in this town…) I stepped in the little deli and was immediately transported back to the East Coast– it’s a nice hole-in-the-wall sans hipster vibe, another rarity in Boulder. I got the sausage, egg, and cheese and requested provolone instead of American. I love that it comes with two fried-to-order eggs! I was asked if I wanted anything else on the sandwich and was confused, but the guy gestured toward the list of toppings for cold-cut sandwiches… I declined. The sandwich itself was solid; the only things I would change would be to griddle the bread and to add some hot sauce. I like that they use the same bread they use for the rest of the sandwiches– unique and delicious. This picky girl was happy today. The price may seem a tiny bit steep, but fried eggs done perfectly to order? You get what you paid for.

I’ll never eat here again. You shouldn’t either. I work on pearl and got sandwiches here at least once a week. I stopped by today at 12:40 which is lunch time last I checked. The door was locked so I peeked in and asked why. The dick of an owner said they were taking a break. I asked why they were closing right during lunch and was told«leave right now and never come back!» Don’t worry a-hole you’ll never see a dime from me again.

Decent food but the people who work here are serious slackers. I work here on Pearl St so Salvaggios is very easily accessible but after my last two experiences I will never go back to this location again. One time I went in to try and get a cold cut sandwich. It was 10:55am and they started serving lunch at 11. After asking the kid behind the counter for my turkey sandwich he told me they don’t start serving lunch until 11. It was 10:55 so I told him I would wait — he replied«lets make it 11:30.» SCUM. The owner is also off his rocker — talking crap about all his employees and he tried my make excuses for over charging my friend. Not only did he overcharge him, he correct the price and give him any money back. THISPLACESUCKS. Goto the one on The Hill or on 28th and Pearl, MUCHBETTER.

The owner(Johnny) is the biggest a-hole in the entire world! His pompous, arrogant attitude creates a terrible work environment and place in general. Will never give him a dime of my money and hope that someone takes him down as he consistently berates and verbally abuses his employees in front of customers. Johnny– You are a dick, your sandwiches are meh, and you need to take a long look in the mirror and do some serious soul searching. If you are craving some Vag, go to ANY other location and do not support a shell of a man who abuses people(both verbally and physically!).

Good food but the owner is an asshole and works there much of the time. Not worth his arrogant attitude.

As close to a NY deli as I’ve experienced since moving to Colorado last year. Now that I’ve found Salvaggio’s there’s no need for another sandwich shop in my lunch time rotation.

I love their bread here. It’s SO squishy and soft! It’s like a foot long French bread donut. All of the different sandwiches I have tried have been quite good. I particularly liked their version of a Ruben. The only downside is that it is not the fastest sandwich in Boulder, and during the lunch hour, a pretty good line often forms.

I lived in Boulder for about 6 years, during college and the years following. I now live in Denver, but work in Boulder. My office is right around the corner from the Salvaggio’s location on the Pearl Street Mall. I have always thought they make a great sandwich, especially their breakfast sandwich, which is the best hangover cure money can buy and I bought many of them in college. Although they are expensive I always thought it was worth it. However, the last three times I have been to this location I have only had negative experiences and it had nothing to do with the food. This is NOT New York, this is Colorado. People are kind and polite here especially if customer service is a central part of your job. I recently came in at 1155 am, the lunch hour, I ordered my sandwich and when I went to pay I was told I couldn’t pay with a credit card because they were using the fax machine. What a great idea to use a fax machine right at the lunch hour while these days 90% of customers pay with a card. So I was told to wait. So while one person paid with cash I sat there waiting for what looked to be a friend of the manager use the fax machine. When I asked how long it was until it would be ready as I had to get back to work I was told that I had to be patient with quite the attitude. No apology, just a bad attitude. So I mention I could just go somewhere else if it was going to take long and without hesitation the manager said, «Okay, good bye.» So I left and went to the bean cart and got a much healthier and cheaper meal. A smile and nice«hello, how are you» can go a long way or apologizing when managerial or employee ineptitude causes customers to wait(which has always been the case). Instead, customers at Salvaggios are made to feel as though they are thorns in the sides of the business. That is not how a delicatessen, or any business for that matter, should be run no matter the taste and popularity of the food. Don’t you worry Salvaggio’s, you have one less annoying, over-paying customer to worry about.

Gimmie gimmie gimmie a prime rib sandwich. I’ve enjoyed their prime rib sandwich with horseradish mayo for many years now(10+). I’ve never had anything else at this location so I can’t say more than that. Parking in the back is convenient and the staff is friendly.

Very very good. Perfect breakfast sandwiches. Marvelous toppings. Friendly service. Good juice /drink choice. Fun to watch the squealy happy children playing in fountain outside window. I will return again, probably only on Sundays when the downtown parking chaos isn’t a factor.

I usually bring my lunch to work to save on costs and because I make a mean sandwich. But today I had to buy my lunch and I didn’t want a sub or anything greasy on The Hill. I was glad I stopped into Salvaggio. I went later in the day, around 2P so I’m not sure it it’s very busy during lunchtime. I was the only customer there. The service was friendly. I mean, there are college students working there so folks are not falling over you to give you service. But they’re not rude either. They’re just nice. I ordered the Italian sandwich on a roll. It was amazing. It tasted like a real deli sandwich. The roll was also tasty. My total for one sandwich was $ 6 which I guess is pretty standard on the hill. I’m sure i will be back when I don’t bring my lunch to work.

Salvaggio’s is probably the tastiest sandwich place in Boulder — and that’s saying a lot, given its competition. Though sandwich places litter Boulder like beer bottles on the Hill, none of them have mastered the art of the simple, fresh, flavorful sandwich quite like Salvaggio’s has. No, it doesn’t have an entire wall of menu items like Half Fast’s crab and hot dogs and shrimp and crunchy noodles and other crazy ingredients like that, or an overt marijuana theme like the Cheba Hut, but in the absence of these bells and whistles, the quality and strength of the ingredients shine through. Let’s face it: the menu looks boring. Pepperoni? Steak and cheese? Turkey? Yawn. Seen it before. But after the freshly baked bread(soft in the middle, spiced and crispy on the outside) and freshly cut meat, sprinkled with your choice of toppings, hits your tongue, you’ll wonder why anyone would want to fancy up their sandwiches with things like shrimp remoulade and goat cheese in the first place. The only bone I have to pick with Salvaggio’s is they swing way wide on the toppings. You never really know whether you’re going to get a nice dusting of oil and vinegar and a neat spread of mayo/mustard or whether the guy behind the counter’s going to dump his entire row of condiments on your sandwich and you’re going to end up with a soggy white sandwich that tastes like a deep fried pickle. My advice: watch your sandwich dude and STOPHIM if he gets crazy… then you should probably be okay.

This is our company’s Friday Treat. We go for the Prime Rib sandwich and hold on for dear life until 4 pm-ish when we leave. The Prime Rib is fantastic. BUT, make sure you bring your A-game when you order, maybe hang back a bit and watch a few other people before you step up to the plate. They can smell Rookie-ness in first timers. I’ve been there a few times, with veterans too, and still can tell. The size of the sandwich is HUGE. Little tip, eat half and save the rest for dinner. You will be thankful. Much like Zachary’s Pizza in Berkeley/Oakland, it is even better a few hours later. We go on Friday because it ends the work week right and let’s you know it’s the weekend! s
