My instincts said it was a low level sandwich shop, and I was right. The Peppered Turkey was absolutely disgusting. It was so over flavored and over saturated with preservatives that it looked and tasted like turkey jerky. The sandwich came with a side of pasta salad with wreaked of rubbing alcohol. I dont think you can use rubbing alcohol instead of olive oil. should’ve gone Phở… Doh!

I was really hungry and I decided to stop in for a quick bite – I’m so happy I did! I ordered the egg salad sandwich sans the bacon. It was hands down one of the best egg salad sandwiches I had ever had. It is topped with jalapenos and a generous serving of crisp romaine lettuce. I love how big the egg pieces are and that it is not made with too much mayo. The pasta salad side was a nice treat as was the yummy spicy pickle on the side. The sourdough bread was also a nice touch and I had almost asked to substitute it for a different kind.

For a chain restaurant, the Spicy Pickle is pretty good. I was impressed. As another poster said, I agree that they do put a little too much mayo on their sandwiches. I don’t frequent it as much as other sandwich shops in Boulder, but it was definitely one of my hangover favorites.

That’s a lotta ciabatta! Not sure why people are comparing this to Subway, since the sandwiches there are a lot cheaper. Maybe Quiznos, but I was thinking more Panera when I visited. Panera is miles ahead of this place. Also not sure why people mention fresh ingredients in the Yard Bird, as I found the pre-cooked shrivelled bacon to taste like Baco’s(worse, actually) and the chicken strips were reminiscent of the vacu sealed package of presliced chicken you can buy at the grocery store for 2.99. And you only get 3 of them on your sandwich. I think there was blue cheese on there, but I couldn’t actually taste it, which is surprising as it’s blue cheese. No mayo on mine, and hardly any honey mustard. Mostly just a lot of bread. That flour on the ciabatta gets everywhere. Skip it. There’s a Panera across the street.

The worst customer service EVER… made my birthday awful, messed up my sandwich, were cruel to me — they do NOT put toppings on — there was one artichoke heart on my entire sandwich. These people are a scam. This was not ONE employee, this was the owner and I presume her either husband or business partner. Food stinks too… I feel sorry for anyone who has to work for these people, DON’T eat here.

not just good sandwiches but great service! I would say the owners were working when we visited and they went out of their way to make us feel welcome. My daughter who is a subway junkie said their italian sandwich was better! I will make this a regular on my trips to boulder!

I’m not the biggest sandwich fan in the world, but this place is worlds better than Subway. There’s nothing really special about this place though. Friendly service, kind of run-of-the-mill subs and panninis. I had the Bastille pannini, which was pretty good. A-OK!

Kinda weird location: In the parking lot of an Ultimate Electronics. But there is a gaggle of Fast Casual foods here, so just go with it. We were down in Boulder, late in the afternoon, and had random craving for Corned Beef. Well, that’s not entirely true. We were hungry and it was there and a sandwich sounded good. Then we saw the«Bronx» on the menu, and heard the angels sing. Coooooooooorned Beeeeeeeeeef.(What? Angels can sing whatever they want.) So, for $ 6.95, we got: Corned beef, Swiss Cheese, Coleslaw and 1000 island dressing. The sandwich wasn’t what anyone would describe as HUGE, and the Bronx would laugh at this Corned Beef. BUT — We are not in the Bronx. We are in Colorado, at a Chain Panini shop. The sandwich was made fresh, the Corned Beef was okay: Think Boar’s Head Corned Beef. The overall taste was good as well, reminiscent of a Reuben. Sort of. But still good. We sat outside and enjoyed some sunshine, which was nice. I don’t think the food or portion size will blow anyone away, and have THEM singing with the angels, but it’s a decent, safe choice for a shared snack.

The Adobe Panini and the Santa Cruz sandwiches are delicious! The bread is always hearty and fresh, and the sandwiches are loaded with yummy vegetables. Love the Chipotle mayo. This isn’t gourmet but it’s better than average. Don’t forget to try the spicy pickles while you’re there!

This is my fave Sandwich shop in Boulder. I used to go here like every other pay day when I worked down the street at Whole Foods. After some messing around with the menu I found my staple with the Yard Bird($ 6.95). Roasted Chicken, Apples, Bacon, Spinach, Bleu Cheese and Honey Mustard. But when I think back to these lunches what really stays is the spicy pickles. Oh every time I bite into a normal pickle at one of my sandwich shops it’s makes me a little sad. I wait for the spice kick and it never comes. Spicy Pickle come to CA— oh wait they’re here in San Diego! Just checked out the menu can’t wait ;) If in Boulder stop by it’s a nice meal and then you can take the shuttle to hit up Downtown Pearl. The owner is really nice too. He insists on bringing you your plate and throwing it away for you.

Riddle me this: which of the following ingredients is most likely to taste like nail polish remover? Is it: Turkey, feta cheese, artichoke hearts, or sundried tomato spread? I’m going to guess artichoke hearts, just because they’re probably from a jar and maybe the liquid they’re stored in… tastes like acetone? Whatever. Anyway, the point is my sandwich tasted like nail polish remover and I don’t know why. Predictably, I had a night full of stomach upset. Nothing as dramatic as food poisoning, but my stomach wasn’t thrilled that I had chosen to eat the entire sandwich. As a slight side note, but an important one to me, Spicy Pickle’s website lauds their ‘healthy and delicious’ sandwiches. Don’t my sandwich ingredients look healthy? I thought so. Click through to their nutrition information, however, and you’ll find that eating ONE little panini will net you 750 calories, 60% of your recommended daily fat, and 135% of your daily sodium. It doesn’t look like that at first glance. Why? Because apparently one sandwich is 2.5 servings, and they list a SERVING in their nutrition information instead of a SANDWICH. Now, I don’t have a problem with fast food places being bad for you. I do have a problem with them being purposely misleading. Especially if their sandwiches taste like a manicure place and keep me up all night.

Spicy Pickle is a pretty decent chain sandwich shop. I didn’t rate it too high because they always put too much mayo on the sandwiches, it could be better, and they’re not super healthy… BUT the bread is delicious(the filone or ciabatta are my favorites) and the Yardbird & Santa Cruz sandwiches are pretty delicious. They pride themselves on being inventive with sandwiches, and they do have some neat combos(green apples on the Yardbird, and a corn relish on both sandwiches I mentioned that is pretty tasty). My husband and I don’t go here often, but when we do it’s generally good. The people working there are always pretty friendly, too! Oh yeah, and the pickles… always spicy! Sometimes too spicy for me… :)

Although it is a franchise, this Spicy Pickle has a lot going for it. The Panini are excellent, the Pizzas are to die for, and Alli and her staff know how to treat their customers right! Can’t beat the location, and the Summer time outdoor seating is wonderful. Order up the Italian and prepare for some excellent flavors to rush your mouth! MMMMMMM!

Holy. Mayonaise. Overload. And if the maynaise isnt enough, the entire sandwich(every variety that I’ve tried) is SOGREASY! If you go here, you’d better bring some industrial strength paper towels to help soak up all the grease and mayo that will ooze and drip and creep its way out of your sandwich. Excuse me, I have to co have a coronary bypass, and the plaque scraped from my arteries. And not in a good way.

If I’m driving and I see a spicy pickle, I pull on over and go on in and get me 2 pickles. $ 1 each they come sliced and spicy and yummy yummy yummy. Dillicious. I’ll also get an iced tea since I’m there. I like tea, and their tea is solid. The food = whatever. Avg to poor deli food. 4 *s for being a cool pickle stop to lighten my day.

I love pickles. And spicy things. So getting a spicy pickle with every order… fantastic. As far as sandwiches go, it’s pretty tasty. I definitely enjoy this place more than Subway. The bread is fresh, the ingredients are well paired, and the service is friendly. I really like their ciabatta bread. Unlike some kinds of ciabatta bread(either too soft for a sandwich or too tough to bite through), the kind the Spicy Pickle uses is perfect. There are plenty of sandwiches to choose from and each has a distinct flavor. And if you don’t like any of the combinations they’ve already created, you can make your own sandwich from an impressive list of ingredients.(You could theoretically do this yourself at home, but there’s something about not having to buy all the ingredients and make your own sandwich that makes it that much better.) If you’re eating there, the service is super quick. They take your name when you order and instead of yelling out your name from the counter or giving you a buzzer or a number, they seem to always remember who you are and actually bring your order out to your table. :) This isn’t haute cuisine or anything, but it’s good for what it is: quick sandwiches, soups, and salads. (-2) stars for: cramped seating(I typically go out for lunch when it’s crowded and I never enjoy facing a wall when I’m forced to sit on a bar stool)

Truly the sandwiches here are average. Better than Subway or Quiznos, but still nothing amazingly special. I’ve stopped in here a couple times and I’ve always had a good sandwich, just not an amazing sandwich. I do enjoy getting the spicy pickle with my meal though. I have to question why they have a bar facing a wall. A bar facing a window is okay, but sitting 2 feet from a wall just doesn’t do it for me. In short a good place for a decent sandwich.

When I first found this place I really wanted to love it. I love the idea of creating my own sandwich from scratch and they have a fantastic list of toppings to choose from. I think my dissatisfaction with the sandwiches is mostly the fault of the bread. It’s tough and chewy and hard on my jaw. I have to bite so hard to get through it that the guts of my sandwich mush out the back. I’ve tried the paninis instead but found them to be greasy. I’ve ordered the spinach salad but the spinach was huge(not baby spinach) and my little plastic fork couldn’t handle it. I had an issue with the apples too, but I can remember what that was at the moment. I guess the short version is I feel let down by the Spicy Pickle. So much promise and nothing I’d really like to eat.

If its got the word ‘SPICY’ in its name I’m there for sure! And so my first ‘Spicy Pickle’ experience took place today after driving down Pearl Street I noticed this joint was calling to me — having driven past this place a dozen plus times prior to today I decided hmmm time to check it out. After nearly colliding with another car for not looking the right way I pulled up and walked right in. First thing that registered in my mind: nice contemporary and comfortable look and definetely not a SUBWAY — it’s a step up from that. Walked up to the counter and made a confession as I glanced the menu: «I have never been here before. What’s a pizzetti?» Answer: «It’s a pizza» — duh, I should have known that, silly me. After continuing some small talk I asked what was recommended and the dude behind the counter suggested from the menu a ‘Sausalito Bandito Panini’(the standard turkey was substituted at my request for chicken) and I opted for the drink/chips for an extra ~$ 2. In less than 5 minutes my Panini was ready for take-out and personally delivered to me as I sat in contemplation of why I had never been here before. Thirty minutes later, sitting at my desk at work I relished every bite of that sandwich with my Pomegranate Pear drink. I was more than satisfied by the awesome/hospitable service and the well made sandwich. And yes, as the name suggests by the term«Spicy» the sandwich does have its own zing; but no worries, anyone can enjoy this sandwich whether you like things spicy or not. I will so be back to this joint and if you are like me 6 hours ago and have no idea what to expect I highly recommend you find the closest ‘Spicy Pickle’ near you and hit one up — you’ll be pleasantly suprised. Question: Is it spelt ‘spicey’ or ‘spicy’? Hmmm… Curiousity led me to reach for my American Webster’s Unabridged Dictionary and I found that the adjective of spice can be in either form. Ok ok I know I am nerd for such things but whatever. And if you wanted to know the definition of spicy according to Webster, see below: *Spicy:(1) seasoned with or containing spice;(2) characteristic or suggestive of spice;(3) of the nature of or resembling spice;(4) abounding in or yielding spices;(5) aromatic or fragnant;(6) piquant or pungent-nature; somewhat sexy(hmmm? — really?)… Oh, and I almost forgot to mention, the sandwich comes with your very own spicy pickle. Enjoy.
