This place used to be good. The food quality is bad now. Chicken on my fajita full of gristle and rubbery stuff and was completely inedible. Asked for a different meat, which came after the other 3 had completely finished their dinners. Then they still charged me full price. Gross!

The service was some of the worst I have ever received! My server plain rude to me. The food was not great and it made me sick! Not enjoyable!

The food was good and the service was really fast. My wife and I had the fish tacos. She had the halibut and I had the mahi mahi. Both were good. Waite staff were pleasant. From the outside you cannot tell that the restaurant is actually set up nice with indoor, sunroom and patio seating. I would recommend.

Glad to see that the entire Unilocal community agrees with me! Sante Fe Red’s is terrible, just terrible. I’ve been there a few times with friends downtown, and all of our dishes tasted disgusting. It was is if the cooks literally used no spices on any of the food, and some of it was over-cooked or partially cooked. I would avoid this place!

I had fish tacos that you could not tell if it was fish or not. Dry and nasty. Forgot the side salad. Forgot the beans and rice. Took forever to get the food. There was a soggy chip in the salsa. Seriously subpar.

I’m updating my review after management reached out to me requesting I come back to experience their«revamped and under new management» restaurant. Was there for Margarita Monday this week and enjoyed some chicken fajitas, chips and guacamole and of course, margaritas. Good service and some of the best chicken fajitas I’ve had in a long long time! I was psyched, finally some good changes, I thought. Decided to go back for lunch today, expecting the same level of good food and service. But was once again disappointed. I ordered the Chicken Citrus Salad and asked for no olives. My friend ordered the taco bar lunch. 30 minutes later, the salad was brought out, with olives. When I told the waitress I couldn’t have them, she asked if I was allergic, otherwise she wouldn’t take it back? So odd. I was confused and asked, weren’t you the one who took my order? She took the salad back and 10 minutes later I got a new one without olives. I know it seemed like a silly thing to her, but I don’t enjoy olives at all and didn’t appreciate being made to feel that an allergy would be the only reason not to eat them. At this point we had been there an hour and my friend had to get back to work, and no check had been brought. Again, our waitress seemed surprised when I asked for it even though I explained we were both on our lunch hour. Really inconsiderate of our time. I won’t be back here for lunch, they don’t have any sense of urgency in getting a salad brought out with enough time to get you back to work in less than an hour. Not much to ask in my opinion. I would recommend this place for a time when you are not on a timeline or expecting consistently good service. Their food is decent and their margaritas the best around. If they could figure out how to offer consistent service and food, this place would be packed every day. But for that very reason, it’s consistently empty with very few seats occupied. Sorry Santa Fe Red’s management, I can’t up my rating for the reasons listed above.

Be warned! If your taste buds like Mexican food do not come here! You will be disappointed and broke when leaving, wondering why you decided to go there. The management there is horrible, I watched a manager just sit at the bar and work on other work in front of customers and not help them! Employees sit and talk and laugh right by the bar/kitchen while customers wait to be served. So if your looking for comedic relief come here and enjoy the sights otherwise stay very far away!!!

It really isn’t any good anymore. I liked it when we first went about 4 ½ years ago. The best Mexican food in this part of the world can be found in Jackson, WY at Merry Piglets! Fiesta Mexicana isn’t good, either… way too ‘processed’.

I would have given it negative stars if I could. Food was AWFUL!!! Service was good. Food was cold, rubbery, dry, hard and crunchy but not in any good ways! After we eat some of our food and left I got sick. SOBAD

It is a great Mexican Restaurant if you are 95 and your taste buds are on their last leg. The«habanero» hot sauce that they had was milder than Texas Pete’s. More like straight vinegar. I had 2 steak tacos and chile rellano plate. The food wasn’t cold per se but it definitely wasn’t hot. The chips had some kind of salt and spice mixture on it that made them taste worse than nothing at all. Bozeman you can do better than this. Taco Bell is more authentic. Complete fail and completely not worth the price they charged. To end the revue on a good note the waitress was great and had great service skills.

Whatever happened to you Santa Fe Red’s? I have been coming here for years and watched it quickly become worse and worse each time. The service is fine, but the food is awful… I’m sorry. We ordered chicken enchiladas and chile rellenos and BOTH things came out completely frozen in the middle, not cold, frozen solid and heated on top. What a shame, it is become very clear from all the toppings(salsa, corn, etc.) to the main courses that this place is now just a big freeze-and-heat Sysco foods dump. What a shame, go back to the way you use to do things!

Went in on a Sunday afternoon to the downtown location only to find the place dead. In hindsight, I understand why now. When we arrived, the employees were sitting at the end of the bar chatting with themselves. We stood there while they finished up their shop talk and one of them even rolled their eyes because it appeared that we were inconveniencing them and she had to get up from the bar stool to seat us. Service was poor, especially for being 1 of only 2 tables in the whole place. I could see the waitresses now sitting in the back corner of the restaurant by the kitchen resuming their shop talk and too busy to come check on us. Food was EXTREMELY salty and overpriced. Will not be back.

After hearing some good things about this place, I couldn’t wait to try it out. Unfortunately, it wasn’t nearly as good as I had hoped. I love hot chips served with fresh guacamole, and while the color of theirs was right, I could tell it wasn’t just made. It looked like it had been scooped from a very large container of pre-made guacamole and it tasted like it had been too. And then there were the tacos, which were greasy; bright orange, dripping, soaked in, greasy. I had to dab my food with my napkin before nearly every bite just so that I didn’t get a mouthful of grease along with my meat. After deciding to take my soft shell taco home, I changed my mind after lifting it up and seeing the small pool of orange grease that had accumulated while I ate my crunchy one. My partner had a burrito which might not have been too bad, had it not been for the 2 hairs she found in it. The fried ice cream dessert was good and the service did their best with what they had. Still, I won’t be coming back anytime soon until I hear some very different things about them.

Service was incredibly slow and inaccurate. The table next to us was given the wrong check, our drink refills were incorrect and slow. The food was good, but not great. My grilled chicken was tasty, but overcooked, dry and tough. I’m sure there are better places to eat in town. Next time I’m in the area, I’ll be trying them out.

The only positive thing I can say about this restaurant is the service was good and my husband said the margaritas were very good. Other than that, all the food was tasteless and unappetizing to look at. Wouldn’t come here again.

I agree, the salsa is good. Food is just«ok» and since when do you get charged $ 4 extra for guac in a mexican restaurant? I believe it’s true that they microwave everything and used canned everything. It stays busy because of the drink specials.

This used to be my favorite place in college but my-oh-my how it has declined. We went about 4 in the afternoon so things were pretty quiet. Sat in the bar and the bartender who served us seemed more interested in giving the other bartender a replay of his evening than providing any level of service. I might be able to forgive the service if the food was good but it’s gotten downright blah. I had steak tacos and they were dry with zero flavor. Not so impressed with what this place has turned into.

Not very good. I wouldn’t recommend this place unless you want a fun atmosphere. Never been impressed with the food. There are better options for Mexican in Bozeman. I need to stop letting my friends talk me into coming here.

While the restaurant itself was a typical tex-mex restaurant(think Chili’s), the food that I ordered was pretty terrible. The wait wasn’t too bad for a Friday night, though we ended up grabbing a table at the bar before our buzzer went off. Our waitress was nice and relatively attentive until after we received our meal and she kind of disappeared for a while. The chips and salsa were great. The guacamole was bland and looked like spackle. I make guacamole from scratch at home, so I know what fresh quac looks like and this is not it. It looks like it comes from a mass produced tub and tastes about the same. I ordered the seafood(crab, shrimp, scallops) enchiladas, with rice and beans, and I barely ate any of it. The enchiladas were really horrible. The inside looked(and tasted) like a tuna salad. The shrimp were literally half the size of a dime, and I’m not sure if I made it far enough into it to discover any trace of a scallop(though they may have been shredded with the crab). The beans would have been better, but there were some thick dark pieces in them which I thought might have been bacon or scrapings from the bottom of the pot, but even the waitress didn’t know what they were so I stopped eating it. The rice was incredibly dry and couldn’t save this awful meal. On the good side, the other two meals at the table were great according to my friends, but mine was horrendous. They should take it off the menu.
