I love Johnny Rockets a lot. I usually eat there with my friends at another mall. So today we decided to go have dinner at this location. It first took them 5 min to clean the table which was not terrible. We sat down got the food and waitress was nice. But what really made me and my friends angry was that when the bill came the waitress lectured us on why she was not giving us back our change!!! She thought the change was her tip. My reaction was I’m allowed to get my change then figure out the tip on my own. So we never got our change back because I did not want to fight with the waitress. It literally felt like she was lecturing us in math and treating us like we are stupid!!! And let me add that this waitress was so rude after the bill came that she caused one of my friends a major panic attack!!! I honestly feel like after this experience I never want to come to Johnny Rockets again!!!

My review is for takeout. The service was prompt and friendly. Though it takes longer than the other fast food restaurant in the food court — it’s made to order. Definitely, worth the wait for calorie loading food.

Awful. The onion rings were hard as a brick. The fries were so greasy you could see your reflection in your fingers after touching them. The employees act as if you’re not even there, and just shout all the orders.

I turned my phone into Apple to get my screen fixed so I had an hour to kill. I asked the Genius Bar tech if he had any food suggestions, and he recommended I came here. So I walked over and asked the two people standing in front if they were in line. They said no, they had already ordered, and explained that you wait here to take your order or to get a table(or something like that). One waitress was working her tail off and visited the cashier stand that I was waiting by two times before asking if I had been helped. I said no and that I was waiting and she says one of the girls will assist me. Those girls stared at me while folding their napkins but never once came over. Now, I’m not afraid to make eye contact to get someone’s attention but they both looked back at me and didn’t help! Were their feet glued to the floor? Finally the busy waitress rescues me and tells me that I could just pick a seat. I ordered the single smokehouse burger & fries. Nice waitress lady brought my fries out before the burger, which was great since I was starving and was at the mall alone with no phone to distract me. She even drew a cat using ketchup on my plate. She was incredible. The burger was great. I couldn’t even finish the meal because it was so filling. The fries are like steak fries(which I love). The burger had the right amount of sauce to fried onions to bacon to meat ratio. Yum. I will definitely order it to go next time, and maybe with chili & cheese on my fries. I would not recommend this place to a fellow germophobe. The doors to the kitchen were greasy and the jukebox at the table with the ketchup stains grossed me out. My phone(or other people) usually helps in distracting me whenever I go to restaurants like this, but unfortunately all I could do was stare at the clock. The good thing is the waitress checked on me often and they had great Christmas music playing. The food was great and so I will come again. That one waitress with the blonde/brown highlighted hair needs a raise.

I hate writing really bad reviews. But I honestly hope the owner of this location sees this, so they can fix whats wrong. I grew up with johnny Rockets and normally LOVEIT. However, every time I go to this location, it seems to be progressively getting worse and worse. Last night, Dec.19, 2015 at 9:30pm was so awful I don’t think I will be back. Our table was not clean, it had grease and crumbs all over it, and a used cup from a shake. When I pointed it out, they seemed annoyed at me, There was a waiter who just walked around with his hands inside his apron, not working. The other girls there had to try to cover his tables too. this led to extremely slow service. The place was filthy, and gross. old food in all of the corners of the tables, the jukebox on the table was covered in grime, there was old grime and food on the floor under the bar stools like it hadn’t been swept or mopped for a week. The staff began taking apart the vents on the grill to clean them in between customers, I hate to think what was falling onto the food in that area. Most of the staff except for 1 or 2 waitresses were huddled on one side of the counter chatting, hanging out and ignoring customers while there was a full restaurant of disgruntled people waiting for their orders, or waiting to even place an order. About 15 minutes after I left I began getting severe abdominal pains, and now the next day my stomach is a little better but still hurts. I can’t believe one of my favorite places has gone downhill so much. :(

Took 15 minutes to be seated another 20 before getting menus. Another 15 before order taken Staff looked right through you. Very rude. Food cold and would have choked it down if I was ever offered a drink. Staff is horrible. Avoid at all costs. Whoops give less than 1 star if possible. Never coming back.

Staff was nice. Place is kinda dumpy. Very dark, was an hour before closing so maybe they had some lights off. They serve everything on small paper plates, Which is weird and makes eating a little messy. But the food was good and I guess that’s all you can ask.

Went here last night with two other people. There was one other table. We were told«sit wherever». Well we walked past the two filthy tables that hadn’t been cleaned off. After ten minutes of sitting there the waitress threw menus on the table and said nothing, didn’t take our drink order or anything. After about another ten minutes(again only one other table), she came over and said what do you want? So we ordered a grilled cheese, drinks and a steak and cheese. Then she said she forgot what we wanted. Again, only three people and we only got two things. Our drinks came, she basically tossed them on the table. I look at my lemonade and there is something floating in the glass. After another ten minutes she puts our food on the table and says nothing. I said there is something in my drink. she says«so you don’t want it?» Umm nope, I don’t want to be drinking something that has something floating in it. The food was barely edible, she never asked us how it was, and when we got the check she charged me for the lemonade. We went up to the counter, in front of the manager and told her to take the lemonade off the bill. She said oh yah took our credit card and still charged us for the lemonade. Manager never apologized just stood there. Looks like this Johnny Rockets needs to get it together, it’s dirty, the food is not edible and the servers are rude. This was on Tuesday May 12th around 7:30, if management wants to see who the waitress was. Very disappointed.

Service was a bit slow due to only one server on hand and her being pulled left and right. Burgers were very good and the bacon cheese fries came out fast and they definitely didn’t skimp on any of the toppings. Would suggest for a quick meal at the mall and much better than crappy burger king.

This place’s seating rules are confusing. There is a sign that says to wait but you generally can see yourself if you’re not a big group. I sat at the counter. No one greeted me and even seemed to notice me at first. There was a manager but he was working on his laptop in one of the booths. Someone got me a menu and then told me someone would be right over. My server was stiff but okay. Overall, no one really smiled. Service was mediocre at best. Got an original burger that was tasty. It came out in a timely manner. Cheese was 1.19 extra. Next time I will pass! I like the burgers. There is another lady who works there that is more outgoing but she wasn’t there this time.

Personally I think the burgers here are nasty. The chili cheese fries are okay. I wouldn’t go back and definitely would recommend it to anyone. However if you just want a shake go ahead and have one, the shakes are good.

In summary: dirty and unfriendly. Avoid this place and try Burlington Mall location! I visited in November 4th at 6:25pm and sat at the bar. There were two servers working — Sarah and Jay. Sarah flat out ignored me, Jay came over to assist me about five minutes after I had sat down. Jay was cordial but certainly not friendly and clearly did not want to be there. When I mentioned me gluten sensitivity, he did nothing other than tell me they do not have gluten free buns. That’s fine — wasn’t expecting one — but I have come to expect that a server will inquire a bit more about my dietary restriction and at least tell the chef about it — Jay did none of these. While I was waiting for my food, I observed many things that made me wish I had chosen another restaurant. The chef never once changed his gloves during my 40 minute period there, and Sarah and Jay both handled fries, etc. with no gloves on. In the meantime, Sarah is counting her tips and then going back to the fries! Yuck! Their space behind the counter was very dirty and disorganized. My food came out as expected but the two slices of bacon in my burger had been cooked on top of one another and were stuck together. I then noticed that the cook had a pile of bacon precooked just sitting to the side in the grill — definitely not freshly cooked. Jay never asked me how my food was — he did ask if I wanted to order anything else. Sarah’s friends were visiting and she spent a lot of time talking to them rather than attending her tables. I work in the industry — their working conditions are absolutely unsanitary and disgusting. I will not ever return, and would advise everyone to do the same.

Went to JR’s for lunch today and got two burgers, fries and onion rings. The burger was really good but the fries were not good at all. I think I was eating leftover fries or something because it was bland and not crunchy at all. The onion rings were on the same boat as the fries but they were even more soggy. Since there are plenty of other options for food at SSP, I will likely visit those establishments before I go to Johnny Rockets again.

I was shopping with my friend and we decided to stop in, it wasn’t busy. I usually love their shakes and chili cheese fries and told my friend she has to try it! We got in sat down and saw these two waitresses leaning against the counter just talking they glanced over at us and then just kept talking. I said to myself ok I’ll give them 10 minutes. No menus in our hand no waters sent over to the table. So they glanced over and just kept talking again… which then began to really piss me off now! I got up walked behind the counter and grabbed menus and the waitresses gave me a glare and I looked at them and said sorry you can’t do your job! I’m sorry your job isn’t hard. You work at the mall at Johnny Rockets… Then the cook came over and took our order he was very polite. But when you have bad service like that, you aren’t going to get a good tip from me. Note to Johnny Rockets; please hire people who aren’t so rude and lazy! Sincerely, Disappointed Customer who will not be coming back! P.S I will be sure to spread the word of the bad service. You can thank your staff for that.

I have had prior positive experiences with this restaurant when ordering take out but my last experience was so dissatisfying that I do not know that I will be returning to this place when shopping at the South Shore Plaza. I went on a Saturday afternoon with my boyfriend a few weeks ago and we decided to sit at the counter. The restaurant was a little more than half full and there was a little line for take out. There were approximately a dozen staff working the floor. It took a few minutes for someone to come give us menus — they didn’t say they were our waiter or identify who our server would be. Ok, fine. We are not picky, impatient people and are very understanding of a busy restaurant, as we both have food service experience. After getting our menus, we took a few minutes and made our decisions. We then sat there for over 10 minutes with closed menus in front of us, waiting for someone to help us. Employees walked by us many times without making contact. Finally, someone said, «he will be with you in a couple minutes». Not sure who«he» was, but no one came after a few minutes so we left. I have never left a restaurant before ordering. Not to mention, the space next to us was covered with the remnants of past patrons. We would have been more understanding if everyone was running around like crazy, but this was not the case. VERY disappointing. What’s more disappointing is I wrote to Johnny Rockets letting them know about the poor customer service I experienced and weeks later I have not received any kind of response. The lack of customer service has really turned me off to a place I once enjoyed going to. I am extremely let down by this company and will not be returning, and have been telling people I know about this bad experience.(2 stars only because of my fond memories of delicious burgers, shakes and fries and ok experiences getting take out!)

Holy. Shit. Upon reading some of these reviews, I now understand why all of my friends who have food service jobs hate their lives and go home wanting to hang themselves after their shifts. Some of you people act like simply because you’re a customer at a business, that it entitles you to act like a bag of unwashed marital aids. And, some of you are older than me? Spoiled, trash brats. My first experience with Johnny Rockets was back home in my native city of Philadelphia. I am a fan of vintage and while I typically don’t indulge in burgers, the feeling of cultural nostalgia hit me and I was suddenly craving something from this place since Massachusetts doesn’t seem to have a Nifty Fifty’s anywhere in the state. Thankfully, they have a soy burger for people like me who cannot eat meat! Hooray! And, it was delicious. I’m always happy to find more pescetarian-friendly options for when I’m on the go and need to buy something to eat. The staff was happy and my waitress was kind. My only complaint is how it’s in a mall food court. The location that I’m accustomed to was an actual large diner. JR being in a mall food court means that the noise level is usually related to how many people are there and whichever parent decides to not give a crap about their kid that day and let them run around like a crackhead.

Awesome spot in the South Shore Plaza for a quick dinner while shopping. The burgers never disappoint and the cheese fries are awesome! Of course, nothing fancy, but the perfect greasy delicious meal when you need some fuel for shopping.
