Years ago this was the gold standard for restaurants in the area. Now I assume there are new owners and as a result it now is one of the worst. Went here for breakfast and the chef screwed up pancakes. I meant how does that happen? My wife’s eggs were barely edible. Needless to say we are staying away from here. We’ll go a bit north on route 13 to the Dallas Diner instead, at least there they can make good pancakes and eggs. Too bad that a place in such a good location can fade so fast.

The food is soooo good, and I always crave it late at night! The waiter who works until 10 or 11 I think its a man is very nice! He never even has to write down what we order. and Stephanie is very sweet and always has these little flower clips in her hair! I love their bacon and their spaghetti is just the best I’ve ever had. The prices are decent and you get big portions. Love this place!

Went here for the first time last week. I had the matzoh ball soup it was delicious. I also order chicken panini w/spinach and it was nothing to rave about. THEFOOD was okay service could use improvement with some training. One thing I noticed that bothered me was the owner walk around with a unpleasant look on his face chomping on gum just gave me a unsettling feeling… kinda of made .me nervous. The owner had a disagreement with a young waiter in front of customers my table was near the front register so it was hard not to notice something was going on .I thought the owner was unprofessional the way he handled the situation. …I will definitely go back for the soup. however, I will take it to go…

This was absolutely my favorite restaurant. Their food is amazing, and the coffee is always fresh and delicious. I would have recommended it to anyone and everyone… Then the incident happened. I accidentally left my phone on the table and one of the bus boys stoll it. I know this because my husband used the security feature to track it to his house. Calmly he went back to the restaurant and told the manager(who was always sooo nice). My husband told him if the phone was returned immediately we wouldn’t press charges. So the manager called the bus boy who came back to the restaurant and told him he found it on his lawn. Seriously? After no apologies, and not even an attempt to make things right with my husband, we still decided to go back. We really love the coffee. We walk in to see the same bus boy still working there. We haven’t been back since. Such a shame, but clearly they don’t care about their repeat customers.

Other then a van driving through the front and damaging alittle of the Diner. This place has unbelievable food. As many times as I came by this Diner. never thought of coming in for a bite to eat till few days ago. I came for breakfast early morning and was Mabe 4 cars outside, all I could think of was Oh no food can’t be that good. But was I wrong. When entering I was seated asap, Ask for my cup of coffee, first cup gone in no time because was desiding what to get to eat, because so much to choose on the menu. I went with the sausage, egg, and cheese, sandwich, and home fries, the Roll was so fresh, and so was everything esle. Came out with in 10 min of ordering. They made the sandwich perfect. Home fries good. Had a crisp to them. Service was perfect. Waitress was nice. The Inside was spotless clean. After I was done eating my food. The owner came over and ask how everything was. I look forward to coming back again for another good breakfast. Definitely Recommended this Diner.

This place was amazing, especially for the price. The food was delicious. I had a shrimp basket with fries, coleslaw, a salad, cream of crab soup, and cheese bread and my boyfriend had a meatball sandwich with provolone and matzah ball soup. Everything was served quickly and really hot. The bread and the soups were my favorite parts of the meal, but everything else was also really good. We had a wonderful waitress and experience. Definitely can’t wait to go back again.

Great lunch portion. I’m not too happy with the waitress service, and no smile. This is the 2nd time I come here due to business lunch, if I have choice I rather try some other diner. Food serve quick, but I hope they can improved the customer service and try to refill the drink. Check and see what is missing from the order, not just leave it on the table and leave. Overall I reduce 2 stars rating due to services. Kitchen did a great job! Price is excellent no complain.

Just ok. Just like any other country diner/truck stop. If it wasnt for our server NANCY i would have left having just coffee. She was so helpful in suggesting meals my 3 children(4,4&6yrs) to have. Thanx but i wont visit again when in this part of Pa.

It’s like going to my grandmother’s. The amount of food is incredible, especially for the price. Their homemade cheese bread and soups are excellent. I go for either lunch or dinner about once a week and have tried a good bit of the menu. My suggestion is to stick to the classic diner offerings: chopped steak, roasted turkey, and anything they mark as «homemade.» The staff is friendly and have just the right amount of «diner attitude.» The uniforms are a nice touch also.

I feel like this place has so much potential to be great. It’s a fairly large restaurant, and probably the best looking building on the lonely stretch of Route 13 it is on. Unfortunately they let the interior go, and most of their seats are now old and rickety and falling apart. Menu is meh and has average diner fare. Food is also meh. I got a breakfast sandwich and the sausage was burnt, everything else was okay though. Service is odd, the waiters don’t seem to know what to do with themselves when not serving and stand around the dining room, yet when serving are very curt and quick. Not the best experience, even for a diner. There’s a lot of great places within striking distance, so why go to an average place?

Traveling from Philly up north, we ended up stopping by the Golden Eagle diner for a quick on-the-road lunch. To be honest, we’d passed by this diner often, but didn’t really have the chance to… until today. Easy parking, a cute little bakery up front, a full bar(though we didn’t imbibe this time), and a full house of patrons were all good signs. We were promptly seated and had friendly, attentive waitresses the whole time. The Alpine burger looked exactly like the picture on the menu(which can be found on their official site) – which, I’ll admit, was unexpected. With a generous serving size and bacon added, it was a beast. A delicious beast. Maybe a little undercooked, but the vegetables were crisp, and it was just about as delicious as a diner burger could get. We also ordered a California salad, which was huge and as fresh as I could ask. Unfortunately, something was off about it when we first ordered – they forgot the turkey. However, when we pointed this out to our waitress, she quickly brought over the right salad. No harm done, and very professional on her part. Oh – I have to add: the complementary cinnamon bread was AMAZING(we could have also opted for cheese bread, but our sweet teeth ruled that day). Served warm and with a pat of butter, it was so delicious and a guilty pleasure! That homemade goodness! Had we not been on the road, I would have wanted to buy some at the bakery up front to take home.

I’ve been here several times considering I live 2 minutes away. Last night was the last time we will ever be back. And considering the«new menu» and«new» fancier table ware, the prices that keep going up and up, I’m starting to think that the place is about to go under anyhow.(and i say«new» menu because its the same exact menu, just formatted differently.) Last night after a looong day at six flags with our daughter(who is 6 yrs old.) we stopped at the Golden Eagle for a late dinner. Our waitress, as usual, was amazing. The WAITSTAFF there is always great. But thats usually where it ends. The previous time we went there, my waiter informed me that it would be an additional SEVENDOLLARS to add a side salad to my meal. seven bucks for a SMALL plate of lettuce, 2 cucumbers, and 1 oz of shredded carrots. thats it. pure insanity. I thanked him for telling me that because if I had seen that on the bill I would have been furious. But last night was the straw that broke the camels back. My daughter ordered a kids hot dog and fries. The waitress brought that out first, which was great. I’m watching her eat and i notice a small hair on top of her fries. I stop her and pull the hair off and discard a few of the fries. I inspected the rest of her food and it looked ok. The the waitress came to inform me that the chef had made my order incorrect. Instead of regular chicken fingers, he made buffalo fingers. Fine, I’m so tired at this point I don’t even care. She apologizes and heads back into the kitchen. Then my daughter pulls a hair OUTOFHERMOUTH and almost has a tantrum right there. My husband stops the waitress and shows her the first and second hair. She apologizes a thousand times and takes the plate away with the promise of a new order of fries. We watch her take the food to show the manager, who obviously does not care one bit. In the meantime, we have our own special entertainment for the night from the manager accusing one of the waitresses of stealing something. That was interesting to say the least. Poor girl was in tears waiting on her tables. Then the waitress finally brings out me and my husbands food, no extra fries for our daughter. My husband looks at his plate of wings, and the waitress assures him that the rest of his order will be out shortly. the chef, again, messed up our order and only made 10 wings instead of 15. The waitress caught his mistake, again, and had him complete the order. So after the first two hairs in the fries, I inspect my own food for hairs. and of course, there was a hair in my food. This is beyond ridiculous at this point. The waitress comes back with the rest of the wings, and I show her the THIRD hair. She is about to have a tantrum herself at this point, and she takes the food away… again. and we can hear her yelling at the chef. Then my husband looks at the plate of wings that, finally, completed his order. Guess what? ANOTHERHAIR. FOURHAIRSINONEMEAL. I’m slightly vomiting in my mouth at this point. The waitress comes back to tell me my order will be out shortly, and we show her yet another hair and tell her we do not want my order. She is just as upset as we are at this point, and runs to get the manager. FINALLY, the manager comes to our table. He tells me he will bring out a new order for me. I don’t want another order, why would I want to eat food from this place? He tells me that the chef is completely bald so it can’t be from the chef. SERIOUSLY? it couldn’t be an arm hair or god forbid something else? THEN he tells me that our waitress doesn’t HAVEARMHAIR. Well, obviously its not from our waitress if the hair is buried in our food. MORON. After a minute or so of arguing with the saddest, most pathetic«manager» i’ve ever seen(I’ve worked in restaurants for 15 years myself, from hostess/busser to bartender, to line cook, to kitchen manager, to upper management.) I tell him about our daughter pulling a hair out of her mouth. and he says«ok.» and walks away. so we sit there a few more minutes and our waitress comes back and asks if the manager is going to do anything. He hasn’t even spoken to our waitress yet. so we tell her we don’t know, he just walked away. then she comes back with the check and says we are only being charged for the kids meal and our sodas. fine. just get me the hell out of here. i need a hot shower and some bleach for my mouth by now. then we realize that we are paying 15 bucks for food we didn’t even get to eat. we gave a nice tip, considering, to the waitress because its obviously NOT her fault. but if this is the type of stuff these poor waiters have to deal with on a regular basis, then I really feel sorry for them. I would highly recommend not eating here. Its just disgusting. And honestly, the food has never been very good to begin with and is really overpriced for the quality of food they serve.

The service has gotten worse and worse and so has the food. We have had 3 bad experiences in the last 18 months and each time we say we are never going back and each time we buckle because we are starving and can’t decide where to eat. The last time we were there was the LASTTIME! The service was slow, we asked 3 times for bread and the waitress kept telling us it was heating up. Apparently it was being heated in the microwave because it was tough and rubbery. She took our glasses to refill and didn’t come back for 15 minutes. My boyfriends chicken dinner was terrible. It was pounded super thin and thickly coated with breadcrumbs. More breadcrumbs than chicken and the sauce had no flavor. The waitress brought the wrong vegetables too. My veggie wrap(which was supposed to have hummus on it) had no hummus, no dressing, nothing… it was so dry. The waitress didn’t bring ketchup for my fries or the coleslaw that came with my sandwich so, I had to suffer through it until she finally checked up on us. And even then she tried to make excuses saying the flatbread wrap soaked up all the hummus. Not a chance… the cook forgot to put it on and she forgot to bring our sides and condiments. Out waitress really seemed annoyed that we wanted bread or any of the other things that came with our meal including drink refills. Our other bad experiences here were the same… bad food & bad service. They can even screw up a cheeseburger which is pretty bad for a diner. This last time we told the owner about our experience and all he said was«so sorry, it will never happen again». We will never be back to find out.

Really this was a sad affair. We were briskly rushed to a table by the host with out more any sort of greeting other than exchange of repeating the number of people in our party. Handed a spiral bound menu that is more of a book. They literally cook everything imaginable. Poorly. I ordered a burger(medium-well) since the menu claimed it was made with fresh ground beef in house. It came out to me sad and cooked to death with the wrong cheese. I doused it in ketchup and ate most of it since I was really hungry but it really was a once and done affair. The fries were also a sad pile ranging from over cooked shells to soggy unpleasantness. My dining companion ordered a steak and it was not cooked to the correct temp either. He asked for medium-rare and got medium-well if not well done. Now he is a man that loves potatoes in all forms. Mashed potatoes are no exception. These he ate one bite of and refused to eat any more. He also ordered the Brussels sprouts. I now know why people hate this vegetable. If I had not had it cooked properly and this was my first encounter I would probably write them off forever as well. Cooked to mushy consistency and having the foul odor that bad cabbage has is the best way to try and capture the unpleasant nature of these poor veggies. The beef & cabbage soup was sweet. Which is odd enough on its own but I mean it was really sweet. Also the complimentary breads options are cheese or cinnamon. Both of these are sweet danish like dessert breads. Not really my idea to start a meal off with but not bad on the whole. Service was ok. We paid our bill and left planning to never return.
