Jackfry’s Café: The Oasis of Park Versailles Through bitter windswept winter streets, Park Versailles and Soundview students and teachers will brave the morning cold and snow. But for 15 years, Jack Rosado’s family business has faithfully served the community, a warm and friendly oasis that specifically caters to this cluster of local Bronx schools. This small garage-turned-eatery belies Jackfry’s Café’s quality food and service. In addition to a regular American fare, they offer Lasagna Tuesdays or Thursdays, Taco Wednesdays and Spanish Fridays. Besides the variety of lunch specials, it’s the little things that matter most. Their«regular» coffee size is a «large.» When you ask for cream, you get half-and-half and do not have to settle for spooned powder. At breakfast when you request your eggs«Over-Easy,» you don’t have to explain how to cook them. The family agrees, «We have had school staff and students come back over the years so happy to remember us. We are proud to have served the neighborhood for so long.» Jackfry’s Café is small, but mighty, with reasonable prices, quality and fast service. You know where to make your next Quick-Stop. Take-out and Pick-Up Only (Open only on school days)

Jack’s is my #1 stop for food and coffee when I’m at/on my way to work — here’s why: FOOD: Breafast pastillos, muffins, candy, $ 3 burgers, fries, salads, eggs — you name it and it’s here. Everything is really fresh and delicious, especially the chicken on their salads and sandwiches. SERVICE: In the mornings, Jack is really fast with service, and remembers my basic order. He’s also a chef at Don Coqui, a delicious PR spot in Astoria & New Rochelle. The other staff is really efficient — they’re trying to get you in and out as fast as possible. DRINKS: Coffee, juices, sodas, teas, etc. Pretty much anything non-alcoholic you’d want to drink is there. Downside: tons of students crowd the spot if you hit it right before the school day; because all of the local teachers stop there for lunch, they”ll run out of the daily special or you could wait your entire lunch period for your meal; it also closes around 2 after the lunch rush, so no afternoon snack pick-up :( Bottom Line — there’s a reason all of the locals are there for breakfast and lunch…
