Petes café brings me back to my teen years. Still going strong they are super busy. It’s a great spot for breakfast or lunch with better than most, traditional diner fare. Personally i love the french toast here. Lite and airy with a vanilla flavor. Servers are always friendly and the students are always abundant.

Very yummy, very cheap. A good amount of food too. They deliver which is great. Their delivery minimum kind of sucks, because their food is so cheap. You basically have to have multiple people order to meet the minimum. Overall though, I like to order from there, and will continue to.

Used to be good, new management seems to be driving quality down. Took 4 hours to get food ordered on grub hub, lied about delivery time. Will never return, after going for 3 years.

Pete’s is a great place to grab breakfast with friends to help fight a hangover. The french toast is amazing but nothing can rival their breakfast burrito as they are known for their mexican food. As for omelets, you cannot go wrong with their canadian bacon omelet. Most importantly, no matter how late you sleep in, you can get breakfast at any time. Perfect for a post night-out at tri-bar.

I’ve come here before and usually things are great. This time unfortunately we waited over half and hour for food… For coffee alone!!! Apparently our waitress clocked out and told no one she still had a table open.

This place has been at this location for a very long time… but sad to say, the service and food seem to have deteriorated over time. Passed by one day, late afternoon and the place was deserted. The soup we had was VERYSALTY, so we switched it for a salad. Entrée wasn’t too bad. Needs some work and less salt in the soup.

The food in this place is so so so so bad, they don’t get it right not even one time, I order. ed From here because honestly there is not to much choices in the neighborhood besides the typical expensive Italian restaurants on arthur avenue, that food is not that great either but me been living in italy and knowing the quality of the food over there, trust me is nothing to die for. But back to Pete’s.café, the service is not bad and they are pretty nice. now the food OMG, it’s so bad… I don’t understand how people reviews this place as so great, it’s either friends of the owner or they never had a good quality food in their entire life… Enough said…

On a recent campus tour at Fordham University, Pete’s Café was mentioned as one of the local eateries. It was a disappointing experience. Our waitress appeared detached and tired. We had to repeat our orders because she didn’t understand English. We waited a half-hour for 3 meals. The wait would had been longer if we hadn’t asked another waitress. I knew something was wrong as other diners that came in after us were already eating. Apparently our order hadn’t been put in. When our order came we were still without napkins and utensils. What took the cake was my sister’s glass of soda had someone else’s red lipstick print on it. OH, FORPETE’S SAKE! Non of us at the table wore lipstick. It took a moment for our waitress to understand that. The food wasn’t that great and they forgot my coleslaw. We left a generous tip because the waitresses probably needed it. The best thing about this dump was the t-shirt for sale of the owner and his ridiculous handle-bar mustache. The strong reviews of this place seem questionable. They were most likely made by friends and relatives of the mustache man.

Got the pastrami and egg sandwich on rye with a cup of coffee. Solid and less than $ 10.

Five of us used Unilocal to locate a nice place to have Breakfast/Lunch around noon on a Saturday in connection with a visit to the NY Botanic Gardens. Unilocalers, you didn’t let us down! Pete’s Café fit the bill perfectly. We each had a breakfast consisting of standard fare: scrambled eggs or omelets, hash browns, turkey sausage(for me), toast and coffee. Seating in the rear area was immediate, service was prompt and efficient, pleasant diner atmosphere, and frequent coffee refills. Restaurant was pretty full with nearby Fordham students and others. Also, prices were reasonable and the menu was extensive. Thanks again, Unilocalers!

This is the best diner in the area! Cheap food, great service, lots of choices. Exactly what you’re looking for when you want diner food.

This is my second time at Pete’s Café here in the Bronx, and I love it. It is on Fordham Road and right across the street from Fordham University, where my daughter attends. Myself an alum but from the Lincoln Center Campus in Manhattan. The décor of Pete’s décor is modern and clean. Because of the large window panes that run along one side, there is always ample sunlight. On the two occasions I’ve been here the food has been tasty and well cooked. Pete’s has the feel of an old dinner, the type I used to frequent back in the day when I was a high school student, a long, long time ago, lol and it brings back memories even though its new and modern. The wait staff is very friendly and attentive. I’ve only been here twice, once for lunch, and today for breakfast and I enjoyed it both times. This morning I had a «Pete’s Special» it consisted of two eggs(over medium) two pancakes, two strips of beacon, two sausage links, a cup of coffee which was brought to me very quickly, even before I knew what I wanted to order, and a medium sized cup of OJ. That’s a big meal I know but I don’t usually eat like this, it was a real treat. When in the northern part of the Bronx, be sure to check out Pete’s Café.

Pete’s is a pretty average diner. I gave an extra star because it has the best seating of all the breakfast places in walking distance to my house. While others are cramped and dingy I found it to be fairly clean, and easy to get a large table. I would definitely recommend Pete’s for breakfast. Pancakes:Good, Sausage: Excellent(the big link kind cut in half) Chicken Quesodila: Good, lots of chicken, lots of onions, served w jarred salsa and sour cream A lot of items are under $ 10. The service is average. I had to remind our waitress of a few things but she was super friendly so I forgave her.

A hidden gem of an awesome old school diner. It’s the kind of place where the waitresses remember you, and have your Diet Coke on the table the minute you sit down because they know it’s what you drink every time you go. I am a huge fan of any place you can get a properly cooked grilled cheese and the perfect milkshake. Try the black and white. I also highly recommend the whipped coffee, it’s better than anything you can get at a fancy coffee place. It should also be noted that I have not touched french toast in years, and Pete’s turned me back on to it. My mom came a week ago and has been raving about the corned beef Reuben ever since. Everyone is friendly, and the people watching is second to none. The prices are good; My fiancé and I come about twice a week and rarely spend more than $ 20 for two meals. Super convenient location, right on the bus line and near the zoo and Arthur Ave.

The owner was an amazing person… may Pete rest in peace :( I came here for breakfast one time when I cut class(I go to FOrdham University across the street) … breakfast tasted deeeelicious and we had good service. What I like about this place is the«make your own salad» feature. You pick the type of salad, what you want in it, and the dressing. all for a fixed price. And it tastes good! I ordered a delivery for 7 meals(5 of which were salads) and everything came correctly prepared and delicious. Good place when you’re hungry and don’t want to go far for good food. Thank God we have a good diner in the area.

Typical diner grub. The place inside looks extremely outdated, not always a good thing. The food is good and comes quick. The pricing however is a bit much. $ 5 shake in the Bronx? cmonnn… it is not that serious… is there bourbon in there or something? NO! I once found a roach floating in my water at lunch time. I didn’t want to be ghetto or an unruly patron so I called the woman over to show her. She gasp, replaced my water and then gave me a check for the lunch. Niiiiiceee…

Pete’s Café has the distinction of being pretty much the only sit-down, diner-style restaurant in the area immediately around Fordham University(excepting some of the pretentious Italian places on Arthur Ave.). If you’re around Fordham and really jonesing for the diner experience, Pete’s is worth checking out. Its status as the only diner is really its only selling point; if you’re in the mood for a diner, you’ll have to come here, and you’ll probably be satisfied, if not amazed. The food is decent, nothing special really. Standard diner fare. I’ve had some good dishes and some bad dishes: your mileage may vary. The service varies. Pete’s son, who seems to be the head waiter, is attentive and quick, and likes to fire off corny jokes(some people like this, others don’t). The other waiters are much less enthusiastic, and the accuracy of the order tends to suffer. The décor is standard diner; there are some nice window seats. The prices aren’t anything special — expect to spend about $ 15 for a meal, a drink, and tip. The staff has the annoying habit of cleaning the floor with bleach during meals — yuck. A word to the wise: don’t get delivery from Pete’s. Their takeout menu does not have accurate prices. They will charge you whatever they want to — sometimes it resembles what you see on the menu, sometimes it will be far more. If you’re getting delivery, order from Webster’s Diner — it delivers all over the Fordham area, has the real prices on the menu, and has comparable food(maybe even a bit better). I almost want to give Pete’s 2 stars. Overall, it’s really not that great. Compared to other diners in New York, it’s lackluster. That said, if you’re going to Pete’s, you’re probably a Fordham student or local looking for the diner experience. If you’re just looking to grab any sort of lunch, you can do better than Pete’s, but if you crave a sit-down meal and you don’t want to deal with snobby Italian places, Pete’s does the trick.

Now there’s a nice moustachio! Mustache aside, this place doesn’t have much going for it. Lackluster food, distracted service, cramped booths. On the other hand… perhaps you’ve found yourself stranded deep in the BX after a long night of rockin’ out in Williamsburg. How did you end up here the next morning? Who knows, but at least you can score a dope-ass T-shirt featuring Monochrome Pete in all his mustachioed glory before fleeing homeward to carve another notch in your Hip Stick.

It’s good. Come early enough and you will get a special breakfast menu where you can get a crazy amount of stuff for $ 3. I’m sure my post-college nostalgia has increased this list a bit but I remember french toast and tea and a breakfast meat and a shot of orange juice was available for less than $ 4. But, since I think you have to get there before 10 am for that deal, most Sunday mornings were spent dealing out a bit more cash than that, but still incredibly reasonable. If you come here around dinner time, you just might see Pete himself. And he might come up to your table to see how you and your lady friends are doing. And might just offer to buy you all coffee. True story. Servers are generally inattentive but at the price you pay, it’s amazing food even ends up at the table anyway. The décor is nothing short of amazing. And the stories you will overhear from the table next to you /sights you will see from the window are unforgettable.
