Shared the Pico de Gallo pizza with smoked mozzarella, bacon, avocado, cilantro, lime, onions. It is about the size of a personal pan pizza for $ 12. I really enjoy watching people make pizzas and pulling it out of those wood-burning or coal-burning ovens. The guy working the pizzas was on his own and doing a great job. The pizza itself was really heavy. There was some type of heavy cream on top of the pizza. It seemed a bit too much considering there was already a lot of mozzarella on the pizza. Besides the chopped tomatoes, I don’t know what makes this pizza pico de gallo. There wasn’t much cilantro or lime or other pico de gallo type of ingredients. Other than that, the pizza was good.

This place is at the main entrance to the park. It has a nice seating area and a few stations from which to get food. I just had to stop in a get a small coffee, so didn’t get a seat. My coffee was a little watery, and they were out of whole milk at the station. Oh well! Everything is just a little overpriced, especially the small pastries they were selling.

This is the restaurant in the Botanical gardens of NYC — the ones in the Bronx. First of all, if you haven’t been to the Gardens, go. They are magnificent. This is a nice place to grab lunch during your visit. Its not super cheap, but its fine considering the environment. The issue here. and why its 3 starts as opposed to 4, is the food wait time. The line forms quickly and they simply don’t have it well enough organized to keep the lines moving. So you could easily wait 30 min to place an order, and another 5 – 8 for it to come out, because it made to order. So the freshness is nice. Its all nice, they just need more employees and perhaps more ovens. Once you have food, the seating is nice, inside or out. Ill be back, because I love the gardens, but Ill try to be the first in line.

This is a cafeteria style restaurant within the NY Botanical Gardens. There is inside and outside seating. As you can imagine it can be very crowded on the weekends. There is a coffee/tea counter as well. This review only addresses the coffee/tea service. I ordered a cup of hot tea which was served with extremely hot water. So hot it melted the plastic cup provided for a protective seal. I did speak to the manager, I hope that some action was taken to remedy this, I did not feel that the manager was completely concerned. My visit took place on May 17, the second day of the Frida Kahlo opening, so the gardens as well as the café were very busy, I hope that this is an anomaly due to this being a new restaurant.
