This is a great resteraunt. Very classy with a nice but small bar up front and a very cosy dining room. It is not your typical Italian American red sauce chicken parm joint. We have eaten there twice with another couple and everybody was very happy with their food. This time I had a pasta special with smoked duck in foil and the pasta was clearly fresh kitchen made and delicious as was the sauce. A first class dish. Prices are very fair considering the quality and portion size. The extensive wine list had choices from high $ 30’s to some very expensive choices if you are into that. Highly recommended.

Last time I went to Roberto’s the food was extraordinary and a review would have been 5 stars. This time it was simply OK… appetizer of grilled octopus was somehow off, with the octopus perhaps not fresh enough(Friday night). Appetizer Burrata was great – delicate. The swordfish in the swordfish entrée could definitely have been fresher and was sliced a bit too thin. The two pasta entrees we ordered were both specials, and delicious. Veal entrée was very good. Perhaps I was expecting too much after previous visit?

Delicious food, average atmosphere, average service. Walked into a completely empty restaurant. 10 waiters standing by. We asked for two high chairs and they ho hummed for 5 min saying that they couldn’t accommodate two high chairs. There was no one there!!! We were a bit miffed at first but wanted to try this place out bc we’ve heard a lot about he place. Finally they sat us down. It was weird eating all alone but I can’t blame that on the place, it was 3 in the afternoon on a Sunday. Anyhoo. Bread basket was brought to us promptly and they were nice taking our drinks and food order. Most important part of the review was the food. Delicious, flavorful, and the right amount for a normal human being. Sometimes Italian restaraunt a overload you w food. Each bite was flavorful and really enjoyable. Would give higher than 3 stars if we weren’t greeted so rudely regarding the high chairs. Would go back for the food but not the service.

I wanted to be in love with this place, and I can honestly say that I was in love with the appetizer I had here in late November. Unfortunately, the entrees are what brought this overall experience down. The antipasti was amazing! And dessert was pretty finger-licking good, as well, but the heart and soul of both mine and my friend’s lunches were mediocre at best. We’ll start with THEGOOD: 1. Short rib antipasto special– thin slices of marinated short ribs served with roasted red peppers, aged parmesan on a bed of arugula! My friend and I ordered one to share… and then we ordered another one immediately thereafter! This was incredible, melt-in-your-mouth, flavor-popping, show-stopping goodness. Had I known that the entrée would be so far behind in quality and taste, I would have ordered 10 of these and nothing else. 2. Chocolate lava cake– pretty decent soufflé, but lacking in the lava department. Don’t promise me hot, melty chocolatey insides if you’re gonna half-ass it. And they could’ve given me a dollop of whipped cream, or vanilla bean something. Overall, a good chocolate dessert. 3. My friend’s strawberry tart– This dessert was perfection. Light, berryful, super delicious thin biscuits layered with pastry cream and fresh strawberries. We could’ve had seconds on this, also. Moving on to the shitty parts: 1. Pollo alla caprese– Come on, guys. It was just a breaded chicken cutlet with a chopped caprese for a topping. Normally, I love this simplicity, but the chicken left something to be desired and that something is seasoning! Then the cheese in my caprese was scarce and the dish itself was just not what I had in mind. 2. My friend’s grilled salmon served with a whole mess of caramelized onions and broccoli rabe. The broccoli rabe was decent enough but the onions tasted like they were swimming in Roberto’s play on barbecue sauce. The salmon itself was dry and overcooked and I hate that in a fish. I won’t go on. There were great parts of the meal and ones I wish I’d skipped. Bill total of $ 116 or something and the larger chunks of that were on entrees we neither enjoyed nor finished.

Without a doubt one of the top five meals we have had. Sat at the bar, amazing service, food, presentation, wine, dessert. This is the kind of place you go for an amazing night. Had black truffle Parmesan pasta. Perfectly balanced. I have no idea how Roberto’s stacks up to the rest of the restaurants in the Arthur Ave strip… and just might not ever find out!

the homemade pasta here is very good. tried the cavatelli with sausage and broccoli rabe, my boyfriend had the pasta with the tomato sauce, cheese in the tin foil(forgot the name). they were both seasoned nicely and the pasta was nice and chewy. my only gripe — its kind of expensive for pasta. the plates were almost 30 $ each and having just come back from Italy, we thought these prices were high. the restaurant is cute and server was attentive. the place is kind of noisy if you were trying to go on a romantic date. the above being said, i’d probably go back when the craving for fresh pasta returns.

After walking in circles searching for the number one Italian restaurant in New York, we found Roberto’s. The area is the original Little Italy of the Bronx. You feel in an Italian town 100 years ago. We couldn’t believe we were in such a traditional place. Everything was fascinating. The pasta was foolproof. The experience was absorbing. Classical. Universal.

Our dinner party had a very nice meal at Roberto’s. We were seated immediately, and, throughout the meal, service was excellent – very attentive. The bread basket was delicious, as well as our burrata appetizer.(Maybe the best mozzarella I’ve ever had.) Our entire group went the pasta route, and we were all pleased. My white clam linguine was cooked al dente and the clams/broth were perfectly seasoned. Do not pass on the desserts. Made in-house and very, very solid. Good spot right off of Arthur Avenue.

Very disappointing experience. Service was average for a $$$ restaurant but given that it’s in Bushwick I could have gotten over that. The issue was the extremely small joke like portions for the price. The pizzas are task but you can get artisnal pizzas for less money and attitude all over the city now. My husband ordered squid entre for $ 17 or $ 18 and it was literally a down slices of squid with a broth. It did not include rice or noodle or vegetable or anything and was not even big enough to be an appetizer. I ordered mussels with shitake mushrooms and the mushrooms were favorable but it literally came with 4 or 5 very chewy mussels. Again not big enough to be an appetizer for over $ 15. I’m confused by the hype.

There is only ONE place to eat on Arthur Avenue and that is Roberto’s …been going to Arthur Avenue all of my life… well over 50 years and unfortunately some of the older restaurants once considered a staple have just not measured up over the more recent years. Roberto’s food is OUTSTANDING and they still have the old world service… both a hard thing to come by in today’s world… go there… you will not regret it.

Very nice spot in the Arthur Ave neighborhood. Service is welcoming an professional. Awesome bartender and bar. Mike. Nice menu of southern Italian classics and their things. I had the buccatini with creamy zucchini sauce. Crazy good. They put the perfect parmesean on the plate before… nice touch because you can test the cheese before the dish… it passed! BTW…Mike made a perfect Chopin martini. It’s an attractive space with good music. Then I ate… OMG was the buccatin great! The zucchini are grillled and the tossed at the end., it was both flavorful and filing… perfecto! Then I had a veal with peppers and Fava beans… again right on, the money(with fontina cheese). Linda is a beautiful hostess and the Service is perfect(yeah perfect). .

Small, Loud, Tough Location… But that is a big part of what makes it Robertos… Roberto is one of those Italian restaurants that you can order with confidence, whatever you order, it going to be memorable. I have never been anything but impressed. Enjoy

This is an excellent restaurant. The food was delightful. It seemed Tuscan to me. Some of the dishes reflected thoughtful creativity. The dining room was lovely. Me and the GF shared an insalata boccacino. She had a swordfish special and I had a spicy chicken-on-the-bone special. We shared profiteroles for dessert. We brought home a little bit of each that made for another dinner. With a bottle of red($ 48), we spent about $ 131 before tip. TIP: generous portions BONUS: excellent service, especially when the servers plate portions of your dishes at the table. An uncommon touch in my experience that I enjoyed.

Roberto’s is one of the best Italian restaurants in the Arthur Ave area. I’ve been to Michaelangelo’s, Zero Otto Nove, Mario’s, and Antonio’s multiple times each. You can’t go wrong with any of those, but the best dish I’ve ever had in Little Italy is Roberto’s Penne con Piselli e Guanciale($ 24, penne with peas and bacon). It might be the best pasta dish I’ve ever had period! Roberto’s menu is traditional Italian so it’s split into pasta and meat dishes. You’re not pressured to get both courses at all, and one is probably fine for most people. But note that if you order a meat dish, you’re just getting a piece of meat and that’s it. No pasta or any sides. I usually get a pasta dish and then split something from the Secondi Piatti menu like the Cotoletta di Pollo alla Caprese($ 21, breaded chicken topped with tomatoes and salad). Roberto’s is one of the more expensive options in the area so I like to save it for special occasions. But the service and food are both top notch and I’ve never left wishing we had went somewhere else.
