Pretty much my entire immediate family grew up on this place. We all lived in the area as kids. It’s a sad day when I hear that they were giving 6 weeks notice after being in business for 55 years. Who is their landlord? The Grinch? Such a shame! They made have had their ups and downs, but it seems they stood the test of time. Zaro’s did something right… Great baking!

My friend and I stayed in Bronx for 1,5 week in the fall of 2015, and ended up enjoying breakfast at Zaro’s 10 out of 12 mornings! It’s the perfect place if you want to eat a nice bagel(especially the garlic one!!) and observe the great culture and diversity Bronx has to offer!

I’ve been coming here for years and have seen customer service go down over the years. Today I was treated aweful and saw other customers mistreated as well. They have lost my service. Management needs to hire people with better manners.

This place has been around for years. Has been closed down several times due to health inspection reasons. I wish they made more variety of pastries like Cannoli’s. Prices are pretty high too.

Sigh… I don’t want to feed into stereotypes about the Bronx but god this place is too ghetto. Fix your employees customer service skills and maybe I wouldn’t give this place 1 star. You can tell it has potential to be something good especially when it’s so close to the train station.

Their stuff is pretty good but when I come through this area I try and make sure to pick up the challah bread bc its so delicious. Great to make French toast with or just eat with coffee and some honey. Mmmmmm

Dear Zaro’s, I always thought a bakery should smell like freshly baked goods. Thank you Zaro’s for teaching me that it can smell like ammonia too. It must be because you aren’t actually baking anything. You’re probably mopping up drunk person vomit from the guests who come in starving from Step-In diner directly next door. Sincerely, Geo F. Ps. Do you sell stale sh*t to people on purpose?

The red velvet cheese cake is absolutely spectacular. That’s the only thing I got from there do far. I’ll definitely start going in there more often. But only for the red velvet cheese cake lol

Eh, it’s okay. Near the subway. I think that was the best part. Never got the pizza.

I loved the place but they always change the prices. Recently, they had $ 1 pizza which still charged tax and now its back to $ 2 – 3. Nothing special there especially since it doesn’t taste that great. The boy that works there is also not very hospitable. He focuses on making conversation with his employees who are actually working. other than that, they have decent food. I love some of their cakes!

Decent cake selection. I mean some may not be fresher than others, but that’s ok. Their desserts are great if you’re on your way to work or coming from work. Don’t eat that nasty pizza though. Trust me.

Their raspberry croissants are awesome and when they reopen at the end of June 2011, you gotta try them!

So, I was on the search for a soup spot and this is the place. They have a couple of different soups a day, pizza, sandwiches, panini + baked goods. I had the clam chowder + chicken cutlet pizza. The thing that sketches me out about the pizza is that it’s made by indians… so yea, it’s not that great. Come on, we’re in NY… there’s better pizza! The soup was MmMmmm good :)

Everyday in high school, after school, we’d all go there to chill, get a pizza. After watching for many years how they run things, i was never interested, in trying any of their baked goods,. Nothing stood out. But The pizza,. Is like, good enough if you have abs no where else to get pizza(which is never true in the bx)… and you are extremely hungry. I mean I figure it would do, for a quickie when you’re off to work, running for the 6 train. but. then you think,.” oh. i forgot about dunkin donuts!”. and from what i remember there isn’t one near enough to walk to… so you just have to go there… or wait til you get in the city. … They have hot soup also. But i try my best not to go in.

Love the quick, grab-and-go access to this bakery during the morning commute hours. It’s located just across the street from the 6 train stop(Parkchester) and serves up good coffee at GREAT prices for its morning patrons. I haven’t tried their food, but while it’s no gourmet-bakery, its breads and pastries are pretty good.
