Ulta

I love Ulta, they have a lot of items here that you really can’t find other places. I usually come for the urban decay eyeshadow palettes and primer for myself. I also get hair supplies for my daughter here. The mizani leave in conditioner and Kera Care detangling mist are great products for my daughter’s curly hair. As far as service, for me at checkout it’s always pretty fast and pleasant. I usually don’t need a lot of help with the products (I always get the same stuff), but the few times I have asked questions the associates have been helpful.

I cannot recommend Theresa enough! She has done my hair for the past 8+ years, and although I have moved an hour away from the area, I will continue to see her because she does an amazing job! I have thick hair which requires a lot of highlights and no matter what she takes the time to do it right! All I can say is ask for Theresa when making an appointment! The reward program is great as well! I always find great deals on hard to find beauty products there!

I really like the selection of high end makeup and hsi products, they are a bit pricey so I only shop there with coupons and when they have sales. The employees at the registers are very rude! I almost don’t want to shop there because of it. My last visit was the worst, the cashier got very upset because I forgot to tell her I wanted to use my Reward points, normally, they just ask you. So after the sale I asked if she could re-​ring with my rewards points because today was the last day I could use my bonus points. She pretty much told me no, and right in front of her manager! So I just told her to refund the order and I will re-​purchase. The manager just stood there while she was giving me attitude.

In a nutshell, the customer service in this Ulta is just bad. I wanted to come up with a more dignified adjective but «bad» seems to hit the nail on its head.
The associates would converse with each other more than actually help out their customers. Not once have I been asked if I needed any assistance. They’ll usually ignore every one and carry on with their conversations. In every instance, I’d have to go up to an employee and ask for their help. And when they do, they’ll walk away right after we find what I need, even before I could thank them. I’ve shopped at this location dozens of times, before I gave up entirely.
I’d come to this location because they sell brands and products I won’t find in my local drugstore, department store, or Sephora but with the constant frustration and headaches I get from shopping here, I’m going to save myself the gas money and ibuprofen, and shop online from now on.

ULTA is the place to go if you want a one-​stop awesome beauty collection. They have tons of options for hair care, makeup, lotions, body wash, make up brushes, and best yet, their salon. I just went yesterday and they were so helpful, I just needed a new brush and hairspray, and I left with that and some new makeup and hair products. Makeup is awesome, I opted for something inexpensive since the holidays are coming up, and it’s the Physician’s Formula concealer and their nude eye pencils for smokey eye. WOW. I’ve never been one for the smokey eye but seriously, it was the easiest eyeliner set I’ve ever used (and I’ve used everything from Victoria’s Secret to Bare minerals). You can’t go wrong here, no matter what your budget. :)

I’m a beauty product addict and this is usually my place of choice for beauty purchases. In general, I like to buy product online because you can usually find it much cheaper, but there are always those products that you must see in person before purchasing. For those purchases, Ulta is perfect. They have a huge selection that ranges all price points. Their staff is hit and miss. Some of them seem to know everything, some of them are completely clueless. The store is spacious so I feel like there is room to look around and you’re not stepping on anyone’s toes. They also have a rewards program and coupons so you can get a few dollars off whatever you end up buying.

Ulta is the mecca of beauty & hair care products. Unlike the competitors, they sell both drugstore (CVS/​Walmart) and prestige makeup and salon brands and are able to do so because they have a small salon area in the back. If you are looking for a hard-​to-​find beauty product, chances are you will find it — or something similar — here.
I recommend checking out the clearance items toward the back. I have found some amazing deals! Especially after the holidaies when they put unsold holiday gift sets on clearance.
Don’t assume that the prices for the prestige makeup and salon products are discounted (that’s what I was told prior to my first visit). The allure of Ulta is that it is a one-​stop shop, and they have some unique lines not commonly found elsewhere.
I highly recommend signing up for their frequent shopper card. It’s free! You receive their sale/​special catalogue in the mail, which always has a coupon, and you earn $ off future purchase through their point system.
I feel like they do need more Ulta sales associates on the floor, for those times when customers need assistance looking for something specific. If I have the time, I find myself helping others… it’s all those years in retail and my love of health&beauty products!
Also, if you go on the weekend it is usually pretty busy and highly sought-​after new products (such as OPI nail polishes) are usually out of stock. I feel like they need to either process shipment faster or try to regulate items that put out so there are not empty displays. Multiple empty displays always make me feel like a place has been raided.
To get the most out of your shopping experience, I would visit the store during the week and give yourself a good hour to look around. It’s a big store and there are lots of things to look at!

The two stars if for the sales and the selection. I had to lower the stars because of the service. I would rather have people be outright rude then fake nice. This Ulta has being fake nice down to a science.
Bottom line visit for the sales and selection, but don’t expect nice help. I will stick to my local Chicago locations.

This store has a wide variety of cosmetics, hair products and perfumes. It’s handy. They finally have me in their computer system so I get my discount offers — finally! So I did save 20% on my entire order and picked up some Urban Decay, Ulta eyeshadows and Paul Mitchell products. The prices on typical stuff are not lower than Wal-​mart, so if you only need a few things and Wal-​mart carries them, then go there. Your next option is Sephora at Mayfair Mall, but that’s just a bit more of a drive for me. Sephora seems to have even more choices in cosmetics.

Quality beauty products are expensive; however, the keyword is quality. Ulta offers name brand cosmetics for reasonable prices. You have to take into account that most of the things you buy here are going to last. It’s an investment. They also run deals fairly frequently.
My friend and I came here to stock up. She is having a baby soon and won’t be able to leave the house for awhile. I prefer to pay 5.6% tax instead of Chicagoland’s 10+%. We came at the right time, because there was also another sale going on. She received double the shampoo and I got double the makeup.
The cashier was nice enough to apply a coupon that I had forgotten at home to my new purchase. She also looked up my frequent buyer card and gave me a new one so I won’t have to keep looking it up. We saved at least $ 60 and came out with two economy bottles of Biolage shampoo, two large bottles of the Biolage conditioner, two Prestige eyeliners, loose mineral blush and the promotional 69pc makeup kit and case for $ 90.
They set me up well and I won’t be back for at least a year.
