Excellent dinner! Wife had the chicken and waffles which were really good and I had a delicious whole fish done just right. The mix drinks were very good.

My husband and I were out in Brooklyn and decided to drop by Buttermilk Channel for brunch. Fortunately we arrived early and though we had to wait until they opened, we got a table without further wait. The room is attractive and the atmosphere is lively and fun. The team couldn’t have been nicer. I had the pork chop with cheddar waffle(way too much food so fortunately hubby helped out) and he had the burger. We enjoyed both dishes very much, though I thought the pork was far better than the waffle. I cannot recall the wine I drank but I recall that they had good choices by the glass. I wouldn’t make a special trip to Brooklyn to eat here, but if we find ourselves in the neighborhood again, we’d go back.

The service is really good. Everyone is super friendly. They talk with you deeply and interact with you. Servers are really knowledgeable about the menu and how the food tastes. The food is really good. The barbecue oysters are amazing. And for my entrée I had barbecue duck with grits. The sauce was not overwhelming, it was just right. The grits were different in that they fried it but very good. The food is kind of pricey which is why I only my gave 4 stars but overall it was really really good.

I think this place is definitely overprice for what it is worth. The portions were small. My pouch eggs with smoked salmon were good however there were barely any food and it is more expensive than the large porkchop with waffles my friend has got. My friend’s waffle was burnt. I don’t understand what’s the hype of this place. My dinner last night was half of what I ordered here. The hash brown was expensive for two pieces. Got coffee, ice coffee and mimosa. The mimosa was alright.

They initially quoted an hour wait but we ended up only waiting 20 minutes, we went next door for a drink while we waited on our text. Once we were seated our waitress was wonderful and very attentive our food was amazing. Although I live in the Bronx it was well worth the travel, I will be returning for sure!!!

I came here for brunch and had the Fried pork chops and cheddar waffles. Pork chops– 5 out of 10 Cheddar Waffles– 4 out of 10 The pork chops weren’t really seasoned, they tasted bland. I had to eat it with hot sauce to finish it. If you love cheddar cheese and a good waffle combo, then this may be good to you. I hated it because I preferred a plain waffle.

See picture. That French Toast with syrup and pecan was heavenly. And that iced latte is probably the best in the area. I’ve come here a few times and never had a chance to eat here because of the wait, but I gave it a try thinking that the only way to get a table is a table for one. And I did, gladly sat at a table instead of a bar(you’d think they’d seat me at the bar). I originally wanted to try their pancakes cause when you speak of pancakes in NYC, Buttermilk Channel is always high up there in the rankings. But that French Toast caught my eyes and I just couldn’t resist, it turned out that it’s warm, crispy on the outside, sweet, with a soft texture that melts away in your mouth. It’s so buttery. I ordered a side of harsh browns and they were so tasty and crispy without being burning hot. Their staff is quite friendly, even though the hostess could be a little«cold» to my liking but she got me a table. :) I am dying to come back for other dishes.

I had dinner and brunch here, and I have to say I loved their friend chicken(dinner) and pork chop(brunch). Great service and loved the shared table concept(in center of the restaurant). Brunch gets busy but you should know that already!

I have been here so many times and it is excellent every single time. This review will focus on brunch, but their dinner is stellar as well. Ok, let’s talk about the food. S#!T it is good. My wife and I consider ourselves brunch aficionados, connoisseurs even, and this is consistently the best brunch we have had in all of NYC. Normally when we go to brunch we have a standard order, split an eggs benedict then split a french toast, because why decide whether you want savory or sweet when you can have both(see, I told you we were experts). The problem is their other savory dishes here are too good to skip. Their eggs benedict(technically called eggs huntington) is what all other eggs benedicts hope they can become when they grow up. First off, it is served on a biscuit and then the biscuit is topped with thinly shaved country ham(it is like they crafted this benedict specifically for this VA boy). Next, sitting atop the biscuit and ham is a perfectly poached egg… seriously…every time is had been perfectly cooked… how is that possible. Next they top the egg with a lemon-y hollandaise, some scallions and just a pinch of maldon sea salt. Simply amazing. I love my wife a lot, so I let her order that. My decision comes down to choosing between the short rib hash or the pork chop and waffles. It is impossible to go wrong here(except that I can’t eat them both). The short rib hash has a delicious and tender short rib which is balanced with a hint of sweetness from sweet potatoes, all topped with two fried eggs and paired with some seriously good toast. The pork chop and waffle amps up both the saltiness and the sweetness. A Fred Flintstone sized pork chop smothers a nicely cheddar laced waffle and when you pour the maple syrup on top it creates heaven in your mouth. Because I can’t skip the savory dish, we tend to invite along others to join us for brunch. We pretend it is so we can show our friends this great restaurant, but it is really so we can split«Table Toast»(french toast shared with the table, it’s my own phrase, you can use it just remember where you got it). Regardless of whether you are full at this point in the meal, DONOTLEAVETHISPLACEWITHOUTGETTINGTHEPECANPIEFRENCHTOAST. Two super thick pieces of, crispy outside, custard-y inside, french toast sit on the plate covered in the most delicious pecan pie sauce(I mean it really tastes like pecan pie) with a big heaping scoop of home made whipped cream. It is so good, you’ll pretend that you’re just going to have one bite… and then after tasting it you’ll be fighting your table mates to scoop up the last bits of pecans. Oh, and I almost forgot about Doug and the great service. All of the servers are pretty great. Plus, on most days Doug, one of the co-owners can be found at the restaurant greeting everyone who comes in with a welcoming smile. If you go, be sure to say hi and tell him I sent you.

The food here was good and all, but for the amount of attention this place gets I honestly expected it to be way better. The service was decent, not spectacular but definitely not bad. Maybe it’s something more special on account of the wasteland its surrounding neighborhood used to be, but it’s changed a lot over the last 5 years so I don’t get why there’s hours-long waits for this place when the chicken and waffles over at Sidecar on 5th Avenue are *way* better. The same dish is also pretty good over at The Dram Shop on 9th Street. As for pancakes, they were OK here, but again, for the money and quality, Dizzy’s and Daisy’s are two go-to spots in Park Slope that are pretty unbeatable in comparison, without the hours-long wait. It’s entirely possible I just haven’t had their signature dish(whatever that may be), but with so many great options close by that don’t require starving for hours before being seated, it’s just not worth the wait for decent but not incredible food.

I came here recently after many years away! I was wanting pancakes and when I looked on Unilocal they were highly recommended. On a Saturday at prime time brunch the wait for 2 was 30 – 40 minutes. Pancakes were really good but not so amazing that I’d come back just for them. Returned for dinner on a Sunday night at 8pm and the atmosphere was quiet and relaxed with candlelight. We were seated immediately. Popovers with honey and sea salt were each devoured in a bit each. Delicious. Husbands mushroom and barley burger was SUPERB!!! He loved it(he’s a meat eater and I’m surprised he ordered it no less enjoyed it so much). It was served with their slaw and pickles on brioche bun. Although I didn’t care for the pickles(I dislike mustard flavor), I actually enjoyed the slaw which I never ever eat. I ordered the vegetable bowl with ancient grains. Although seemingly simple, the flavors of the beet tahini and yogurt were quite unique and delicious ! I can’t wait to bring my parents and friends here. Excellent, attentive, classy service

This place had a lot of hype to live up to and I did not feel let down at all. I went here for brunch on a Sunday and it was definitely top three brunches I’ve had in recent memory. I got there 10 minutes before they opened and there was already a line starting to form outside. If you don’t want to wait for hours, get there early. I split an eggs Benedict and a fried pork chop & cheddar waffle with someone else. They were both good but the pork chop and waffle was like last meal worthy. The one thing I missed out on was their bloody Mary’s, thanks to that stupid blue law preventing alcohol sales before noon on Sunday. I’ll be going back to try their cocktails. There’s actually a bloody Mary list which I found very intriguing. I would for sure recommend this place to friends, even as a destination worthy restaurant.

Decent food and service, but not as memorable as I would have liked. We stopped by as a party of two on a weekend with a reservation, and it was pretty packed throughout most of our meal. We split the house-made pappardelle and the Buttermilk fried chicken, and I thought it was just fine, although not as amazing as I had expected given the rave reviews for the latter(the cheddar waffles didn’t really do much for me). The ambiance was nice and the service generally very good, but I didn’t find the meal to be as unique.

Returned for dinner with three friends and had an epic meal. First, I’d recommend bringing as many people as possible and sharing everything. We had the chicken and waffles, mushroom barley burger, market vegetable bowl, a pasta special with red pepper and pork, flatbread special with ricotta, spinach and mushroom, plus the pecan pie sundae and apple galette for dessert. The chicken is a must — perfectly cooked and served with amazing coleslaw and cheddar waffles — but everything else that I tried was also incredible. The ice cream here is Van Leeuwen(one of my favorite ice cream spots) so we got to enjoy that in our sundae, which paired nicely with our hot apple dessert. Would give this place 6 stars if I could. Note to self: return to try the duck meatloaf and pork chop that everyone’s going on about.

With the exception of the obnoxiously long wait; it was fantastic. The long wait gave us just enough time to get buzzed next door on margaritas and then come back an hour later for our brunch. There were 4 of us and we all ordered something different — and they were all equally delicious. I had the pancakes. It’s a huge order. Way more pancake than one person needs. Biscuits were great too. Overall a great brunch.

Yum, really lucky we only had to wait less than 30 minutes for a table for 2 on a saturday in the dead of winter when i hear the wait can be 1 hour to 1.5 hours! they take down your number and text you when the table is ready so that you can explore or chill while you are waiting for your table one of the best southern brunches i’ve had, worth the trek out to brooklyn, very close to the F train –fried pork chop with cheddar waffle: loved the light cheddar waffle! the fried pork chop was good too but some parts were too thick so it got a bit dry –SHORTRIBHASH: i heard people complain that it’s too fatty but that’s what makes it so good! sure it’s a bit salty but with that runny egg and buttery toast on the side, this was so good! NOTE: they also have bar seating

Huge crowd on a Saturday afternoon, but we were intent on trying this spot. Put our name down and enjoyed the day outside until we got the text to come back(more places should do this). Obviously crowded inside, so expect to get cozy with your neighbors. Looking over the menu, was not going to get the brunch cocktails as they’re overpriced. After realizing they don’t serve their chicken for brunch(WHY), settled on the Fried Pork Chop w/cheddar waffles($ 17) and a side of biscuits($ 5). The fried pork chop is well breaded, a bit oily, yet substantial. The cheddar waffles pack a punch — crisp, filling, though a bit on the salty end(best eaten with a sauce). The biscuits are super fluffy; presented with jelly and butter that goes altogether well. To wash it down, ordered an overpriced orange juice($ 4) — why is every drink here so expensive? Service here is efficient considering the crowds they have to deal with. I did enjoy my meal, but found the price point to be higher than it should be, especially for drinks. Still, I’d want to come back to try the chicken — 3.5 stars.

After foregoing this place for a few of the surrounding brunch choices, I finally braved the cold to see what the wait was all about. We were quoted 30 minutes and were able to leave a phone number for text notification. However, we never received one. We walked in to find that most of the others who had jotted their names down at the same time were already seated. My short rib hash dish contained chunks of extremely DRY meat. Sticking with sunny-side-up eggs offered a nice coating & extra moisture, but it wasn’t enough to overcome how harsh the meat was. My mom had ordered the same dish. A quick study of the two plates revealed an inconsistency between the two. She had much less short rib hash and I had only a few cubed potatoes. While waiting to use the restroom, I was in the direct line of kitchen items being sent out; I noticed the short rib hash plating varied greatly. Consistent & proper portioning was problematic for them. I left feeling very underwhelmed. The hype surrounding the short rib hash was unjustified. The rest of the plate didn’t succeed either: the multi-grain toast triangles were hard as heck, & the presentation looked sloppy, amateurish and thoughtless. Based on these factors, I would venture elsewhere if there was any amount of wait time involved.

We arrived on a Sunday afternoon for Brunch and were seated in 15 minutes. Staff here is friendly and attentive. This place does get busy so expect a crowd outside the restaurant. Fried Pork Chop & Cheddar Waffles $ 17 — Not a bad alternative from the chicken & waffles. The skin was crispy, but not over-cooked. The pork chop was very juicy and flavorful. You get a huge pork chop but the waffles were small. The waffles sat underneath the pork chop, causing the waffles to be flattened into a pancake. I dowsed my pork chop and waffles in maple syrup. Best decision ever. Short Rib Hash $ 16 — Too dry and burnt. My fiancé had to use some of the maple syrup for taste. I was expecting something with more flavor, and bigger. There wasn’t much short rib in the hash. Personally, I’d come back for dinner(chicken & waffles). I’ve had it before and it is much better than the pork chop.
