Incredibly good no frills Italian food with fabulous service. Here’s my story… Prior to the birth of our 2nd child(a few months ago) we went here almost regularly because of the great food and great service. They were always really friendly and attentive AND anytime we took anyone here they were blown away by the food. Nothing fancy, but the food was always damn tasty stick to your ribs kind of food. LOVE the homemade ravioli and then there is the gnocchi — mmmm gnocchi. Now that our 2nd one is a bit more manageable when we go out we are definitely going back to stuff ourselves silly.

This place is okay. Yeah, they make a great red sauce and serve good wine, but the interior is lacking. It’s a good thing that they have a very friendly staff. The most memorable thing about eating here is the people watching. All of the old-time Italians come out of the woodwork for this place. The prices are a little out there though. The Shrimp Cocktail is $ 9 for 3 shrimp. Come on, really???

The good: they were knowledgeable about wine and had a good selection. The place has an upscale, old-time feel to it. The middle: the food was OK. I’ve had better Italian at many places in New York. The sauce for our calamari was quite weak. The bad: the prices they charge for what you get.

My mother in law was in town, so my mom(an old Italian mother from Brooklyn who happens to actually be an old Puerto Rican mother from Guanica) took us out to dinner here for a taste of real Brooklyn Italian food. I’ve lived in NYC all my life except for a while in grad school in VA, and with the exception of my aunts(real old Italian ladies from Brooklyn), this is the best Italian food I’ve had in a long, long, long time. If not ever. The fettucini alfredo was amazing, perfectly cooked with a delicious rich sauce. My wife had chicken marsala and while I’m not a fan generally, it was great. I got to try the chicken parmigiana as well, and I can’t think of a thing wrong with it. Just fried crispy enough, with a flavorful sauce and mozzarella that stretched just right. I will be going back again, hopefully I won’t be so broke so I can treat them next time!

One of my favorite Italian Restaurants of all time. Bothe the food and service are top notch. I highly recommend the any of their veal dishes(especially the veal rollatini alla pizzioli).

Proper Old family Italian place that has a bit of a nursing home feeling, but the food is wonderful! Every time I leave feeling stuff and typically have leftovers because the portions are huge. Fettuccine Alfredo is fabulous, as is the veal Parmesan. They have a great artichoke starter dish, and decent wine selection. Be prepared for birthday parties and old people, but amazing food. I would also suggest fasting prior to going, as every time I eat so much good food. It can be a bit pricey, and I find the wait staff a bit annoying, but that could just be me.

If you are looking for an old fashioned Italian Eatery in Brooklyn with an authentic ol’ school flavor, Than look no further than Cono’s, The wait staff is knowledgable and attentive. You may see the ol’ timers outside shooting the breeze and the beautiful tunes of Nino D’angleo and Umberto tozzi and other italian favorites are played while you dine. I strongly recommend it when your in Old Williamsburg.

Honestly, we went on a Tuesday for ½ off wine night.. . the wine was great, the food was not. The tortellini Bolognese tasted like Chef Boyardee and the Sole Menuniere was fishy and soggy. The staff is very good and knowledgeable about the wine etc. but the food is too expensive to be like this. We will probably give it another try since the reviews are so good. Maybe we ordered the wrong things.

went here for another early dinner, for some reason I’ve been skipping lunch and they getting totally starved by 6. They have a happy hour set menu, for 15 bones. App, main, dessert and a coffee. can’t beat that. their regular menu, on the other hand, is a little pricey, but the portions are huge. We shared everything, eggplant rollitini pretty good, the baked clams were amazing and something to return for, and mussels were a little bland. The mains were all breaded and fried, except for my spag with meatballs, which came as spag with meat sauce. anyway, I’ll go back for the clams alone, and their antipasto platters looks great. the wine list is quite affordable and tue is wine half off. The table service is attentive but heavy on pouring wine so you finish the bottle before the mains are even close to ready. all and all, do go for amazing food, go for the clams, wine, and remember to use your napkin as a bib when the pasta arrives.

Everyone was very friendly at this restaurant. I thought the food was alright, but I don’t think that it was worth the price. I am probably not going to go back.

THISPLACEISAMAZING!!! If you’re looking for the traditional Italian-American New York City experience then look no further Cono’s is your place. I love the food here and the service is amazing! They make everything fresh and the other day when I was in here with my family my lovely waitress, Diana, recommended the Spedini alla Romano(something I never heard of before) and it was freaking amazing! I will definitely come back here next time I am in Brooklyn. However if you are a «trendy/hipster» from out of the city who moves to areas like Wiliamsburg because you can’t afford the Manhattan life, like I assume the 1 star rating guy is, then you may not like this place. Sorry everything and everyone can’t look like Urban Outfitters/Pinkberry/American Apparel. …but if you are looking for some good food and appreciate traditional New York City then Cono’s is the place for you. =D

Super friendly old school ‘red sauce style’ place. We went last week– a Tuesday and low and behold… it was ½ off wine night! We took advantage and ordered a great Barolo. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about wine and sweet as pie. I had chix parm(duh). It was really yummy. HUGE portion. I ate it for lunch AND dinner the next day. Other treats at the table… gnocchi with marinara, white clam sauce on linguine and a carbonara. All very tasty and plentiful. It’s not as old timey looking inside as Bamontes but the food is 100% better and the staff are genuinely friendly and welcoming. I feel like they would actually remember us if we went back– it’s like that. Great place for parents or large groups. I am a big fan.

I don’t know what all these other folks are on about but this place is horrible. My roommate suggested it to me. He said, «it’s the best Italian restaurant in the neighborhood… they’ve been there for years… it’s always full of old Italian guys…» I had walked past the place on several occasion with no interest in the place, but i thought why not… Brandon has lived here for a while. he knows, right? WRONG. people who like this slop don’t know anything about Italian food. not only that, but they have the taste buds akin to homeless people. they used the cheapest pasta around. trust me, i can taste the difference. drowned it in crappy tomato sauce, then topped it off with old parmigiana. the meat balls tasted days old. i mean, in all, the plate tasted like something you’d give to a dog. i won’t even bother telling you about my appetizer. If anyone has ever been in a shitty tourist trap restaurant in Rome and want to capture the lovely experience here in Williamsburg then please, by all means, make a reservation at Cono & Son O’Pescatore. They’ll have Frank Sinatra playing all night. There are some new italian restaurants in the hood that blow this place away. one is called Baci & Abbracci. Another i believe is called Il Passatore. spend your money on people who actually give a shit.

Update: I had dinner at Cono O’pescatore a second time. This time I tried the gnocchi. Gnocchi is the supreme test of an Italian restaurant, because merely using superior ingredients cannot be substituted for skill in preparation. All I can say is… yum. They’re not heavy, but they’re not super-light. They’re a little on the softer side for gnocchi, but nowhere on the gooey(the danger of soft gnocchi). I got it with Marinara instead of the meat sauce, which — as a veggie — I can’t comment on. But the marinara is nearly perfect. It almost tastes as if there are some ground-roasted red peppers added to the sauce(maybe there are?). It’s got a strong wholesome flavor that has a bite without being sweet. There. I could be more detailed, but I’d get even more hungry.

Totally some old school beeswax. Great take-out, i’ve personally never ventured inside due to fear of the metallic«No Tank-tops Permitted» sign that’s posted by the front door. Great pastas and garlic bread. Oh! And, Tuesday is «Wine Lover’s» night, so get on over there for half-priced bottles, every Tuesday.

Top notch old school Italian I love their penne arrabiata — I break a mean sweat eating it. Everything we’ve had in this place was very good– good enough for me to make the trip over there when I’m even remotely close to the area! Prices are really reasonable — parking is spotty– street and the worlds tiniest lot.

For the past five years or so, Cono’s has been THE place for red sauce Italian for me. As their name tells, seafood is their specialty. I’ve seriously found no better mussels than their mussels ala cono. Their linguini ala cono in fish sauce is another favorite. Their stuffed calamari is amazing, their ravioli is fresh and perfect. And the service is great! A real, old-school family setting where the waiters quickly remember you and your habits. Tuesday nights are wine nights…ANY bottle half off. So splurge and spend 35 bucks on an amazing wine. The headwaiter is VERY knowledgeable about wines, and charming to boot. The only way you lose out here is if you go too traditional/conservative. Their lasagna and spaghetti are not impressive. Stick with the seafood or ravioli. EDIT…has this changed management? The waitstaff seems completely different and the food was nowhere near what it used to be. I make sad face!!!
