Fairly sure this place is now closed. Food/service was good while it was open… Patrons check to ensure if this spot is still open

I enjoyed the food very much. We had my godchild’s-baptism here today. The service was old style. No dirty plates left on the table, owner very much involved. excellent wine List

Dirty plates, wine glass with the lipstick stain and very lousy service. The food is ok.

This place is nice, but there were several issues while we were there. The lighting was a little dim, so the hostess tried adjusting it and the entire night she was playing with it. She couldn’t seem to get the right balance between ambiance and too bright. I was the only one who did not order a salad or an appetizer — the waitress brought out my entrée with my mother’s salad(which was her entrée) and my husband’s appetizer. Once we were done, my husband received his entrée like 15 minutes later. I have never seen that done before. I believe you should bring out all apps first and then the entrees. I felt strange about eating my entrée while my husband was still working on his app. Would I return? I’m not sure. The food was decent, but I definitely would not write home about it. That is why I am giving this place 3 stars. In my opinion it was forgettable.

We wanted to check out the new restaurant in the neighborhood. Stood in the front for two minutes. No one greeted us. So we went to Sofia’s next door. Glad we did. Great service, food, and house wine.

Ive wanted to try Fillies for awhile. I finally did today. It was really really good. I didn’t think i was going to like it that much. I had the tuna tar tar with avocado. It came with home made chips. It was very good, but couldn’t have come with more chips. Meg had the chicken parm. She said it was good. Only thing i would change is the price of the chicken park, $ 17. Chicken is cheap, so not sure why that was so expensive. My favorite part was the bread with olive oil with crushed black olive spread. I could eaten that all day. The waitresses all looked like bay ridge supermodels. That was a nice touch. The wine list needs more by the glass options. I don’t need a whole bottle. I would go back. Everything was excellent. My waiter did a really good job. He was very nice.

Went to brunch here today with my husband. There were only a few tables full when we arrived. I ordered the eggs Benedict and my husband ordered the pancakes and a side of eggs. The waiter looked at my husband like he had 2 heads when he asked for a side of eggs, he had no idea what to do. Repeatedly while we were waiting for our food my water glass and my husband’s coffee cup sat empty for long periods of time, with wait staff walking past our table and looking at our empty glasses but not bothering to stop and refill them. When our food came I was so disappointed. The English muffin with my eggs Benedict was not toasted, it was limp and barely warm. I had about four potatoes that came on the side. My husband was equally disappointed in his meal – and they charged us $ 7 for the side of 2 eggs. We won’t return.

Went to restaurant last night with friends, and was very pleased. The food was very good(bit of a wait but no hurry it was a Friday night), the service was pleasant, and the ambiance was really nice. It was spacious, comfortable, and you were able to hear each other talk. Was surprised to see the proprieter of Zio Toto’s there but he apparently took over the place several mos ago which confirms the quality of the food. His wife greets the patrons and seats them. Will definitely return PS: wonderful 4 course prix fix menu which had most of their highlighted menu choices which was also a treat.

Love this place! It has the same owner as the restaurant Zio Toto that’s across the street. Food great, service wonderful! Prices very reasonable. Best kept secret in Bayridge great for a date, family event, or just to hang at the bar and watch the games !

I received a Groupon gift certificate for«Fine Dining for Four» from a friend. I took my family there tonight and had a «mix» experience. Upon seating I asked my waiter how does this gift certificate work and he explained it covers two appetizers four entrees and four drinks. So we ordered two appetizers, one salad, four entrees and four drinks(2 glasses white wine, 1 diet coke and 1 Shirley Temple). We really enjoyed our food. They tomato dip they served with the bread was really good. We asked for extra bread just for the dip. We loved one of our appetizer, the crab portobello. It was amazing! For entrée We ordered the Pan Seared Tuna, Filet Mignon & Mushroom Ravioli-Black Truffle and they were all outstanding. The filet Mignon was so tender that you can cut it with the fork. The reason I mentioned our experience was«mix» is because the serice. We asked for lemon for our water in the beginning but never received. When our waiter brought us the bill I notice we were charged for three appetizers(BTW, it took 15 minutes for him to bring us the bill. Looks like they were not should how to process the Groupon). I pointed out to him that the Groupon gift certificate covers two appetizers and I should only be charged for the salad. He took the bill back and discussed it with couple other waiters and a manager by the cashier. He came back 25 minutes later with an adjusted bill and I found another error. Now we are charged for the salad plus two sodas. Once again I pointed out to our waiter that the Grouppon certificate covers four drinks and we only ordered 2 glasses white wine, 1 diet coke and 1 Shirley Temple. Now the waiter tells me that the Groupon certificate does not cover soda. I said to him that he told us it covers 4 «drinks» earlier. He then tells me that the 4 drinks cover wine only. I said to him that he should have told me that in the beginning. I also point out the two soda cost mush less than the wine so why will it make a different. He then tell me unfortunately that’s how the Groupon works. He did not offer any solution and walked away. My family definitely felt dissatisfy at that point and discuss the bill among ourselves. The manager stopped by and asked us if we have any question about the bill. I told her the matter and she tried to explain to us that this Groupon covers only covers wine and not soda. I told her I wish our waiter would have told us up front. She offered to remove the charge for the soda since the waiter did not make it clear for us. I appreciate the fact she removed the charge after all and we left our waiter the full tip based on the full bill before the Groupon discount. My family enjoyed the food and the deco of this restaurant very much. It would have been a very good experience if it wasn’t for the billing matter. I feel the restaurant wasn’t really familiar with the handling of their Groupon offering. Hopefully they will improve their process to avoid the same situation with other customers.

The food was wonderful, the service was beyond atrocious. I’ve heard the owner has other restaurants in Bay Ridge — how could s/he not know that Mother’s Day would be busy? Two waiters were going insane with nearly a full house. Our waiter, though gracious and probably competent, was doing his work(already too much) and that of the moron he was working with — who I had to tell four times to stop with the pepper already(he was«helping» our guy)…this is no way to run a place, and if you are experienced owners, you have absolutely no excuse. We had a voucher for a discount, or we probably would have walked out. When we finally got to taste the food(almost an hour and a half after we ordered) we were glad we stayed, but as much as we’d have liked to try their desserts we didn’t dare. The table next to ours had ordered one dessert and one coffee over an hour ago(after a long wait for their entrees), and they finally got their check and left. You won’t last long with this type of operation, I guarantee it. We left our waiter a good tip, as without him I don’t think anyone would have eaten at all, late or not.

Went here for dinner a few Saturdays ago. We got there around 6:30 and there was only one other table there. Not sure if this is always the case, but it is odd to see an empty restuarant in bay Ridge on a weekend Anyway, the food was pretty good We got the spicy calamari. One issue here… there was plastic in one of the calamari rings. Im sure it is a packaged product and the plastic in the packaging so didnt make too big of a deal out of it Followed with the apple endive salad. It was really good. Big enough for a meal I had the risotto and my BF had one of the fish dishes For the risotto, I got a HUGE portion! It was really good, but only thing was the rice wasnt fully cooked. But the sauce and veggies made up for the slightly hard rice We also had 2 pitchers of sangria. Might be some of the best sangria in the Ridge IMO Overall not a bad place. They had deals on all the major sites right now(groupon, livingsocial, amazonlocal), so worth trying if you can get a deal!

I don’t understand the overly positive reviews. The good: the look of it. The staff are polite, when you can get them to come to the table. The fries were good! The bad; The cheeseburger was clearly of the frozen variety. With a slice if plasticky cheese and borderline stale bread. On top of all that, it was medium-well when i ordered mex-rare. The lettuce had seen better days, and i got this treat for $ 10, on special. Ouch. The pear salad with lemon vin sounded great! Except it wasn’t. It tasted like cheap olive oil. The taste was overpowered by this oil. The bread for the table had at least double the salt it should, and the red pepper dip was just meh. The service was mostly absent. I saw what i think was the cook and or dishwasher attending guests. Our waitress, who seemed like a patron when we arrived, as she was sitting in street clothes at a table, disappeared after the food arrived. Had to flag someone down to pay. There were 3 tables. 3. A total of 5 patrons. And at least 4 staff. My advice? Decent burgers(fresh) cooked properly to temp. As a professional cook, i am aware of what this looks like and tastes like. So its not me. Offer cheddar or provolone at least. Fresher bread. And get a good olive oil just for salads. Thats what good olive oil is for. And please attend to your guests, especially ones that are single parents with a toddler that is not going to wait 20 min for the check. Im letting the old bacon slide. People expect more for $ 10 an entrée than this.

THEPANNACOTTA. oh my gosh. I have to start with the dessert so that you understand just how good the PANNA cotta was! Creamy, soft and so deliciously strewn with fresh strawberries and syrup! Not only was this on the house, but I would come back for it again and again. Okay onto the other food: I ordered their special: shrimp and asparagus risotto. This was really delicious and I am so glad the waitress recommended it. Very simple dish but it was full of flavor! I liked that they did not skimp on the shrimp and they tasted fresh! The rice was cooked just right – a little bit of nuttiness and a bite. I know a good risotto when I see one! My companion ordered the curry chicken salad which was delicious as well. We ordered the tuna tartar to start which was not bad, but a little bit on the tart side. I would try another appetizer next time. To close up our meal, we ordered some cappuccinos. The cappuccinos were so well-made that I had to commend the waitress for it. She then told me it was the barista who made it, and that she was indeed a wonderful barista :). Smooth foam and strong, quality coffee with a little piece of brittle to nibble on! I absolutely loved the service here. They did not rush us out at all, even though we were the last ones in the restaurant! The waitresses were so well-mannered and patient. They gave us complimentary Panna Cotta and checked on us occasionally to make sure we were enjoying ourselves! I am so pleasantly surprised by my experience, I will definitely be sure to return!

Could not have asked for more wonderful experience here. Fillie’s is now my new favorite restaurant in Brooklyn! The restaurant is beautiful and inviting. I came here for dinner with my mom and another friend. The food was amazing! We enjoyed every dishes here. We had Tuna tartare, beef carpaccio and beet salad for starters. They were very tasty and delightful especially the carpaccio was visually– appealing and very well seasoned. Loved the flavor combination of the dish. The tuna tartare was also delicious. It will make you crave for more that we almost ordered another one! For main course we had mushroom risotto and seafood linguini. The risotto was amazing, rich flavors and creamy just the way I like it. I highly recommend the linguini. The sauce was tasty and it went very well with the pasta. You can tell that they used fresh and high quality ingredients. Can’t wait to return and try out the whole menu! Overall, great place and amazing food.

A friend n I ate at Fillies about a week ago. We were both pleasantly surprised by the food, service and ambiance. The staff was friendly and welcoming. Our waiter was knowledgable of the menu and made a few suggestions. Glad he did… To start we ordered the tuna tartare, as well as, the homemade crab cake. The tuna was generously portioned and seasoned very well, loved it! And the crab cake was delish, we cleaned the plate. As entrees, I ordered the short rib on special and he had the classic bacon burger. Short rib was very tender, and the mashed potatoes were amazing(no seriously). The burger was served on a brioche bun with all the fix’ins and a side of fries. My friend had no complaints and has since called me «craving a Fillies burger.» While this restaurant is a little on the quiet side, it seems to be a great spot to unwind, have some good food, and a drink. Cheers!

I visited Fillie’s a couple of weeks ago with a friend. We went on a Tuesday night and the place was pretty quiet, only a couple of other diners. We’d never eaten here before and were hopeful to find a new spot to eat. Unfortunately, I won’t be back. While we were deciding what to drink our server let us know that they had home made sangria. Awesome. We ordered a pitcher of sangria … got blank stares. They didn’t have pitchers for the sangria. My friend was not deterred so the staff served us sangria out of metal water pitcher. Ok fine. The sangria was decent. I’ve tasted far, far worse. We ordered the fried calamari which came with a mustard based sauce instead of a tomato based sauce. The mustard sauce was closer to an aioli and reminded me vaguely of tarter sauce. It was tasty but when paired with the fried calamari everything was just heavy and one note. The dish needed some acid to break up heavy breading and richness. After a while it became too much to eat, and started to feel greasy. For our dinner I ordered a pork special and my friend ordered their meatball sandwich. Same problems as with the appetizer. The pork was cooked confit and was extremely tender and was accompanied by a creamy sauce and fried egg. A couple of leaves of salad were also present. Overall the dish was a chore to eat through. Initially it had great flavor but after a couple of bites all I tased was grease, fat, and heaviness. The salad helped greatly, but there just wasn’t enough of it. My friend’s meatball sandwich came with fries but she was only able to get through one half of her sandwich. She also wished that her meal had come with a salad instead of fries. Trust me I am all for a good hearty meal. Bacon, cheese, and potatoes are my three favorite food groups … but this meal was just too much fat without anything to break the monotony. I am a bit of two minds about the service. Initially when we were brought our wine glasses they were dirty. You could clearly see the leftover lip gloss on the rim of the glass. The female bartender was extremely apologetic and brought us out new glasses with straws. Our server was incredibly jovial, but toward the end of the night had started to hit on me. Dude it’s unprofessional to tell a customer you think she’s cute and ask where she lives. I know he wasn’t trying to be a creep but it came off that way and makes you as the diner feel so uncomfortable.

So it seems as though I will have to be the FIRST bearer of bad news on the food at Fillie’s. BF and I stopped in here about a week or two ago, AGAINST my suggestion. Why??? Because it was dead empty on a Saturday night at around 6:30/7. For this area, that’s not such a good sign. But…, being the diplomatic person I am, I caved. Bad idea. We both disliked our entrees, burgers. How can you screw that up??? By over cooking them when we specifically said that we like them PINK inside, which is considered a medium. If there is anything in this world that I cannot stand, is an OVER cooked/WELL DONE burger!!! Another thing I can’t stand is that they don’t even offer cheddar cheese for their burgers. WTF??? American cheese ONLY(which really ISN’T cheese ATALL!!!), unless you get the Mushroom & Swiss burger. I gave them 1 star for their calm/romantic ambiance and 1 star for their quite good Mini RiceBalls appetizer. They added saffron to the rice which I’ve never had before and there was a nice amount of cheese and meat in the middle. Their sangria sucks!!! I am a bit of a sangria snob. And their white russian was just ok, meh. I’ve experienced better. $ 100 waste. Up your game Fillie’s… You’re SURROUNDED by A LOT of competition out there…

Note: this review is for the bar. I didn’t eat anything here, so I can’t comment on the food. My favorite kind of bar is an empty bar, and preferably with a chatty, friendly bartender. We walked in here last night around 10 or 11 and there was one couple eating dinner. We sat at the bar and ordered a couple drinks. The bartender was really nice and even gave us the leftovers from an espresso martini he made someone else(which was delicious). This is a great winding-down place; go here for your last or next-to-last drink of the night. Great atmosphere, nice people. Our drink were $ 10 each. We’ll be back for sure, and next time we’ll try the food.
