Who would’ve ever thought I would face RACISM and DISCRIMINATION at a hibachi restaurant INSIDE A GASSTATION in 2016?!! I walked into the Shell Gas Station on 1143 Clarkson Avenue, in Brooklyn, NY at approximately 12:30PM on Tuesday June 14th2016 dressed in a casual sweater and fitted pants(on my waist, not sagging down to my ankles) and ordered a few items off the menu. The cashier directed me to the gas station attendant to make the payment. This is when things took a turn for the worse. The attendant of Oriental descent kept looking at my visa credit card and my ID, then looking at me. It seemed pretty odd because I’ve never had an issue with this before since I have proper documentation for everything. I swiped my card and my payment went through. When the cashier went to give me my receipt, he took it back then said«You have a fake card, it didn’t go through, leave». I was baffled and shocked. #1 I’m not a scammer. #2 I have a registered business and my business vehicle(that has my face plastered all over it) directly parked in the front of the window so they obviously saw it. #3 In no way shape or form did I give the impression that I was trying to intimidate him. What made matters worse was that his son was in the background telling me that my card was fake and to get out. They didn’t even examine the card. They just looked at me as if I was a black man who had nothing better to do than to make fake credit cards. He kept saying that the approval receipt and the last 4 digits of my card did not match. I couldn’t even see the receipt because he stayed far from the bulletproof glass window preventing me from not getting a clearer view. I’ve NEVER felt so disrespected and belittled in my life. To make matters worst, he called me a «Fraud». Why would I, a working professional and business owner, try to defraud another business !!! I yelled at him and requested that he cancel the transaction on my card. He kept saying that«The card is fake, get out». I was tempted to curse and swear, but I had to keep in mind that children are around and my business vehicle was outside the establishment. I didn’t want to give a poor representation of my company. It wasn’t until the store manager intervened and examined my card and receipt. He verified that not only was my credit card legit, but the receipt proved that the transaction went through and there was no indication of fraud whatsoever. At this time you would’ve thought I was relieved. It was the total opposite. I wanted to cry and scream from the top of my lungs«I AMNOT A CRIMINAL». I felt as if I was persecuted and found guilty just for walking in. I don’t have any issues with any ethnicities. Yet they had one with me. The attendant tried to ease his mistakes with fake laughs, but it was too late. He didn’t even apologize. He just gave me my money back in the form of cash, without any receipt. To verify the transaction. I’m all about all thriving businesses, especially ones in my neighborhood. But when your character as well as your source of income is questioned in public by a business, loyalty and customer satisfaction is out the window.

Hesitant at first and continuously bypassed Hibachi On The Run but I am glad I gave here a try. The food taste fresh, light and has a healthier feel. With limited options in the area this location is a god send.

You wont be WOW’d by the food, but they are the only Japanese place that delivers to the ghetto. The food it okay and gets the job done when you want some sushi. Also, they are pretty fast on the delivery. Considering the other take out options in my area are basically fat and grease this is a God send.

I’ve order from here twice the service is good and the lunch special are reasonable. However the food needs a bit more fiber as it is hard(literally hard to get through my digestive system). And lastly the most important and recent issue is the agressive marketing. I found not 1 but 5 menus in my mail box. Not only me but every one in my build complex received 5 menus each. ‘Hibachi on the Run’ please don’t do this. I don’t need 5 menus in my mail box.

I’ve been ordering sushi takeout from here for a few months, and they’re great. They should get a Michelin star for actually being in a gas station.

Delivery– Great customer service over the phone and the order was good. My only suggestion is that they give a choice of soup or salad with every meal. Standard for most sushi restaurants. I will order again.
