I stopped by with the Unilocal deal originally and have done their delivery several times. Never had any issues, food had always been very hearty and delicious. Their breads are very fresh, I always find myself getting the bread basket with garlic naan, paratha, and the fried dough. The delivery is speedy and the staff are very friendly, hope to be by more!

Food was delicious: samosas and tandoori chicken. Only issue was the wait(delivery), which was around an hour. I love the no-frills name. The food speaks for itself, so there’s no need for a fancy, authentic-sounding title.

Amazing service and food! I called to ask if they were open and they man I spoke with had a very pleasant attitude. On top of this the service was amazing. I recommend the chicken Komar.

Recently came here on a whim with a friend from out of town. What a let down. This is one of those Indian restaurants where every dish tastes the same– like cumin, coriander, and curry powder. Not cool, not cool. To make matters worse the service was rude, when he man seated us he asked if we knew what we wanted. He hadn’t even given us menus yet. Then 10 seconds later he came over and asked us again. Give me a break man. After we ordered we were finally left alone. Our food arrived without the naan we ordered. The naan showed up over 10 minutes later. Our food was by this time tepid. Again, not cool. My advice to India place is to get your act together. This won’t fly in Brooklyn, especially with establishments like Gandhi in Lefferts Gardens setting the bar so high. I won’t give India place another shot.

One of my favorite restaurants in prospect heights. Great Indian food at a decent price. Anayed the server is an awesome dude. Get the lamb rogan josh, chicken tikka, aloo gobi, and lamb shank.

Great spot for your Indian cravings. Really nice dudes, quick delivery, and they have a dinner special that gives you an appetizer + entrée + naan for $ 14, which is a steal!

Best Indian in the neighborhood. The combo special is the best — one appetizer, one entrée, rice, naan and cucumber, raita, tamarind sauce and mango chutney, all for 12.95(they serve it for dinner as well — just ask). sometimes service can be slow — but it’s definitely worth it! Just like the menu says the Ka– Chori(chickpea stew-like cold apetize) is too hard to explain in words, but is amazing.

The chicken curry was the best I’ve ever had. I really appreciate how they make everything from scratch and take pride in doing so. Very kind and patient people working here who are excited to explain the differences on their menu(which has so many great selections). Also recommend the mango chicken. Cannot stress enough how great this place is!

I was pretty shocked by the food at this place. Wow. It was amazing. By far, the best Indian food I’ve had. However, there were a few«downfalls» — read on. Veggie Pakora. Yum! You can see it actually had real veggies in it, which unfortunately I’m not used to. It was really tasty, even more so with the tamarind & chutney. Lamb Masala(dinner special). Sooo good. The sauce had real tomato — thick and rich. You can tell they didn’t just throw a ton of butter or oil in it to give it some taste. High quality. Lamb Kurma. My favorite. The sauce, again, tasted amazing. It was REAL sauce with real quality ingredients. Rich, creamy and almond-y! The lamb in both dishes blew me away. It was the most tender and perfectly cooked lamb I’ve ever had. The naan was fine. Naan is naan to me. I did notice it was $ 2.75 for plain naan though, which seemed a tiny bit high. Galub jamon. …usually 3 balls. It only came with 2. They were okay. First impressions: there was no one in the restaurant for dine in except my boyfriend and I. At 6pm on a Saturday. Weird. Lots of takeout here. There was a man waiting for his order and started causing a scene because he was waiting a half hour when they told him 5 minutes. It was uncomfortable and the establishment should be on top of their game so customers don’t have to worry if a fight is going to break out. They don’t give you the deep fried lentil wafers at the beginning of your meal. Most Indian places do. The waitstaff was kind of a mess. We asked for more rice and then didn’t he never got back to us. Someone else asked a half hour later and he got it for us. Our total was around $ 40. Because of the food, I will be back. Definitely.

This is my favorite Indian restaurant in the neighborhood. After sampling all the options, India Place is where I go for Indian food, exclusively. The portions and flavors are generous, and the staff members are friendly, welcoming, and accommodating. I always leave India Place satisfied and with a smile on my face. *BONUS* They have lunch specials! Basically the more typical curry entrees for less $$. Sweet!

Ordered the Mango Chicken and naan for delivery tonight. It arrived after 30 minutes and was fresh and hot. The Mango Chicken was spicy and sweet. It was delicious. The only downside is that the pieces of meat were a mixture of white and dark meat. When I usually eat Indian, I prefer chunks of white meat. So the tender, fatty pieces were a little disappointing. Also I wish there had been a little more rice, you get a lot of sauce and not enough rice. The food was decent and the price was right but it wasn’t my favorite. Good to have in the neighborhood though.

We started going to India Palace by chance and have been regulars ever since. Considering that we live at the opposite end of Brooklyn, that says a lot. The service is warm and attentive. The mixed grill appetizer is amazing AND an excellent value. We love the poori baji(poori bread and a cup of delicious chick peas), the samosas, and the chicken tikka masala. The nan is the best we’ve had anywhere. The rice pudding at the end of the meal is complimentary and not to be missed. Go!

Walking on Vanderbilt checking out eateries with«A» health ratings, India Place looked and smelled inviting with the front window open to the street. I popped and asked if they could make things dairy-free and mildly spiced. Yep! They were very happy to accommodate and made my companion and I feel very welcome. The prices are reasonable, and the Unilocal deal was a nice surprise. I had Vegetable Samosas and the Vegetarian Combo with Aloo Motar Gobi(peas, potato, cauliflower), Chana Shag(chickpeas, spinach), something else with mushrooms, and rice. It came with yogurt but I had that switched out for mango chutney. I also had naan. True to their word, the heat was gentle. Everything was fresh and delicious and perfectly flavored. We absolutely loved the food and appreciated the attentive service. The whole restaurant including the restroom was very clean. We’ll certainly be back soon.

Best Indian food I’ve had ever. In fact I now only come to this spot. Staff is great, food is great. There’s even a guy who refills your water faster than you can drink it. You can’t win, I try every time. I’d recommend the Chicken Tikka Marsala or the Lamb Saagwala. Add some Naan Bread to that and get the dipping.

We stopped here by chance and I am glad we did. From start to finish the service was incredible! The staff was very warm, welcoming, and attentive. We both enjoyed our meal which consisted of lamb sagwaala and chicken vindaloo. The garlic naan had and abundance of garlic(which is a good thing!) We ended our meal with rice pudding even though they also offered us a free sweet dessert at the end. What a lovely experience!

I got Daal, Beef Madras and Paratha TOGO and they put a few extra goodies in the bag, on the house — totally charming! Fast service too. And it was delish! This will be a regular place for me! Overall wonderful old school service. Well done!

Decided to experience this place for the first time — with a friend who drove into the city to see me during the snowfall yesterday… We got lucky and found a parking spot! A good sign! We ordered a veritable feast! Tikiyas — crispy outside — tender & flavorful potato filling inside Ka-Chori — vegetarian friendly mix of textures and flavors ranging from sour, bitter, and sweet — served cold Chicken Liver — not swimming in oil– thank goodness… Tender and delectable! Served with a way too greasy, overdone(?) puri bread. Navratan Curry — Vegetarian friendly with some fruits n nuts in a creamy, sweet sauce… yummy! Lamb Korma — chunks of lamb in a savory, reddish brown gravy… delish! The ubiquitous basmati was the perfect accompaniment!

I could have sworn I wrote a review for this over a year ago! Snaps fingers. Well, the second time I came around and second chance was after a Unilocal Event at Spirited. After too much sugar and cocktails I set myself in preparation for an Indian curry food coma to cap the night off appropriately. You’d think with an entirely empty restaurant that the staff would be even more accommodating and courteous but the entire time they were almost rushing and pushing us to get the hell out. It wasn’t any later than 8 or 8:30pm mind you. Also, the valentines & holiday kind of Christmas themed decorations in October were a hoot. I went with the dinner special that was advertised you get an appetizer, raita, mango chutney, nan bread, and an entrée for around $ 15. The waiter seemed confused as hell when I mentioned the special, had to ask, and come back and say it was okay to order. By the way I never got my mango chutney, had to ask for the raita because I really really wanted it, and also had to ask for even rice. For my appetizer I asked for Ka-Chori mostly because it said spicy and yummy in description and I had no idea what it was until I went home and googled it. It’s fried flour dough stuffed with a spicy bean concoction. That wasn’t anything even close to what I got. Though, it was still tasty, it wasn’t the right appetizer. I think I ended up with Aloo Papri: a tangy and sweet medley of chickpeas and potatoes of sorts. For my entrée I went with my tried and true Lamb Vindaloo, it was barely spicy at all and my friend went with a chicken mali kebab. They were both standard and solid dishes but nothing wow factor. Also their nan stuffed with cheese is pretty lame. Don’t bother with it. Upon taking the rest of our buffet of food to go we asked for another side of rice since we had a ton of leftovers and we had only gotten one order to begin with. They were kind of annoyed and ushered us to get out faster. I remember vaguely being annoyed with this restaurant the first time I went here. Now I’m really annoyed.

My standards for Indian food are pretty low to average considering that I’ve only been eating it now for about a year and a half to 2 years(glances lovingly at her boyfriend who convinced her to try it and created a little addict). Whenever I eat Indian food it usually turns into a love-fest as I proclaim how every morsel on my plate is delicious and worthy of my praise. …When this doesn’t happen, then it’s safe to assume one of 3 things: 1.) It’s generic/unmemorable/ehhhhhhh ooooookaaaaaaaay. 2.) It’s disgusting/inedible and I want my money back! 3.) OMGSOSPICYCANTBREATHEOHGAWDSOMEONEGETMEMILK. In the case of India Place it’s option #1(lucky for them, lol). ______________________________________ What brought me here originally was being hungry with Ingrid S. after a Unilocal event at a nearby dessert/cocktail bar(*waves enthusiastically at Spirited). We were both craving Indian, this place was open and they had a decent $ 15 dinner special — so they won our business. Upon entering we seated ourselves by the window and waited for a while(longer than we should have for sure) for menus to be brought over… despite us waving at them when we sat down and there not being any customers inside… yep. The $ 15 special was basically limited to na’an(which I paid extra for because I realy wanted cheese stuffed na’an), one of their meat entrees and a sharable side of white basmati rice. Ms. Ingrid went for their Lamb Vindaloo and requested it be spicy and I went with Murgh Malai Kabab Chicken. We also tried a side of Ka-Chori even though we had ordered the Aloo Papri which was like an Indian version of poutine but with tamarind flavors, chickpeas, potatoes and creamy cheesy stuff that wasn’t paneer. It was interesting but if I never ate it again I wouldn’t lose sleep over it. My Murgh Malai Kabab Chicken entrée was lackluster(it should be super, insanely juicy!) and so was my cheese na’an — it barely had cheese and it was crumbly instead of seared to the inside of the bread. I know plenty of places with better service and better food that is less than $ 15 so I felt a bit ripped off. On the bright side, our portions were generous and we basically had food leftover Would I eat here again? Sure, if I’m desperate and no one else is open. Other than that… meh.

J’y retournerai !
