This place is amazing! Best curries I’ve tasted in NY.(I lived with an Indian mother for a year. I assure you this place is both authentic and exquisite!) Try the Hyderabad Baignan! Or the Nepalese Momos! The owner is genuine. He’s got a dry sense of humor, and is curt but sweet. The kitchen is clean too.(It can be seen from the dining room.) 95% of this menu is expertly cooked vegetarian fare. If you’re expecting some over cooked mush that has been coagulating in a steam tray for 8 hours… You will be disappointed, because this is NOT mushy food court Americanized Indian cuisine. Be adventurous and try something new!

We ordered delivery through their website’s online ordering system at 7:15PM. They said it would arrive at 8PM(we’re only several blocks away). It arrived at 9:30PM. Ouch. Screwed up our whole night schedule. Also the owner was not at all apologetic on the phone when I told him how late the food was. When it arrived, it was pretty oily and the flavor was mediocre. Portions were very small on the entrees. Would definitely not go again or recommend, and I will be thinking mean thoughts about this place for at least 2 days.

Fresh and flavorful… Best Indian food in the Slope(admittedly not saying much). Saag paneer, samosa, and chickpea(chana) dish were standouts. Definitely worth following waiter’s recommendations.

I ordered over an hour and a half ago, food’s still not here. Called 20 minutes ago, guy said it would be here any minute. Called just now, said the guy was about to leave. Never ever ever again.

I was in the neighboorhood with my girl friend and we came across this cute little Indian Restaurant. We were immediately seated and greeted and given menus. We ordered a few dishes and appetizers since we planned to over order so we had enough to take home for another meal. Well let me tell you, we had a feast and every single entrée was just as good as the next. The owner personally came over and asked us several times if everything was ok with the meal, did we need anything, just wonderful polite service. We understand that they have a back yard and are planning to do some outdoor seating. What a perfect little romantic spot right here in the neighborhood. We will 100% be back. At the end of the meal, they politely and neatly put everything for us to take home our planned«doggie bag», which incidently had less then we planned only because we ate so much.

My husband and I just had a delicious meal at Sanskriti. The aloo gobi(potatoes and cauliflower) has a fresh and slightly smoky flavor. The muttar paneer was tasty. The naan was yummy, the mango kulfi was house-made, and the chai had fresh ginger in it. Our waiter was delightful and regaled us with info about the spices and about New Delhi, his home town. We have been looking for a good Indian restaurant in Park Slope and are excited that we found one. We’re looking forward to trying everything vegetarian on the menu!

Sanskriti isn’t really anything extraordinary, but if it’s solidly good Indian food you’re looking for, I would definitely recommend it. It’s got an ambiance identical to dozens of other semi-fancy Indian restaurants, with 8 or 10 tables in an unassuming space, maybe with a few pictures on the wall. But once the food arrives, it sets itself out as above average. The naan is deliciously flavorful, and the chicken korma was wonderful. The service was fast and kind, if in a rather curt way. Once again, this place will not astound you, but it’s got food that’s a notch above the rest. I’d also like to say that many people have claimed the people who give this restaurant positive reviews are fake and are written by «freelance reviewers». To these people, I say: just because someone else’s opinions don’t correspond with yours doesn’t mean you have to discredit them.

Maybe the food is good; I didn’t really have a chance to find out. The volume of positive reviews = undoubtedly false. I walked into Sanskriti and took a seat. We were the only ones in the restaurant; the owner made us feel extremely unwelcome, bearing a kind of ‘just-order-eat-and-get-out’ attitude. The place was advertised as being BYOB, and we had brought a bottle of wine. After a considerable period spent waiting, he brought out two filthy glasses. I was hesitant to say anything, but did, after we were made to wait again. He begrudgingly brought back two glasses, only slightly improved. We placed our order and, ver batim, he said, ‘ITDOESNOTWORKLIKETHAT, M’AM’ Apparently, there’s a $ 20 per person minimum. Twenty minutes after lunchtime. Wow. And how do you know I’m not going to order more? The décor is tacky and the service is horrible; how do you impose any kind of minimum at all? The way we intended to order, it would have been about a $ 40 meal anyway. What a jerk :/ This place isn’t going to last. So, if you do like the food, order while ya can.

We ordered delivery today for lunch. I ordered the chicken tikka masala lunch(which comes with rice and naan) and my friend ordered the chana masala lunch(same). I also ordered the aloo tikki chat, just to mix things up. Oh — and we got a side of raita. Firstly, delivery took about an hour, while the quote on seamless was 30 — 45 minutes. Not a great start, but not horrible. We opened the bag and found that we had only been given one(large) rice to share. If I were home, this wouldn’t be an issue, but I was at work, so we had to get a little creative to split up the portions. Not a major deal, just a tad annoying. The food was excellent. Really, really tasty. My tikka was delicious, the naan was very tasty and the raita was fine. My friend really enjoyed her food as well. The aloo tikki chat was outrageously good! I haven’t ever had it before so I am not sure what it is *supposed* to taste like, but I don’t really care about that. I loved the flavor! So, all in all, a really solid lunch. If the little service glitches are fixed, this has a very solid future.

Food is good but way overpriced. I ordered 3 appetizers for $ 20 and barely had any food to show for it. My delivery was almost 40 minutes late.

Came here for a valentines day dinner. The food was great, the place was packed. Luckily we were able to sit right down as one table had just left. Went for the samosas for appetizers. We shared two entrees, chicken tikka masala and lamb curry. I always get the garlic naan and rice. Ps. The place is BYOB!

My love of Sanskriti was just confirmed. I ordered effortlessly through their website and the food arrived 15min earlier than estimated. More importantly, it was delicious. The veggie dinner special(appetizer + entrée + rice + bread + desert + chutneys) is a good deal at $ 17.99. For me, at least, it will be two meals. The eggplant tamarind appetizer is out of this world and the channa masala is in a rich, dark sauce that is so evidently– and refreshingly– not poured out of a can. I may not leave my apartment until spring.

Just had a wonderful dinner at this quaint new spot. Seriously the best chicken tikka masala I’ve ever had… not a watered down, overly creamy dish like some area Indian places… but a rich, tomatoey spicy flavorful dish. The rice and naan were also great. Will definitely be going again!

PLEASETAKENOTEOFWHAT I DIDN’T: All of the reviews have been written within a 2 month span!!! Who are these freelance reviewers that are being paid off? What made me realize this is that: This was the worst take out food, anywhere, ever, that I have ever had! Thank god I didn’t order any meat. I may not have been able to ever write this review if i did! Let me tell you about it: You know when vegetables have been frozen for a while and then you cook them and they are rubbery and kind of mushy and have a strange texture? That is what I was served. PReviously frozen food. It tasted old. The nan was not even cooked completely! IT was raw dough that was burnt on the outside. The sauces that came with it tasted disgusting. The eggplant one tasted like my grandmas perfume. Literally… As I was eating it, I was started to envision a fake establishment that exists in some run down kitchen in an apartment somewhere. There is no way this place can survive in any way other than fake Unilocal reviews.

This is now the«good indian place» in the neighborhood. There are plenty run of the mill choices in the same genre but Sanskriti has high quality food, a warm and inviting space and friendly service. I had the gobi appetizer, the baby eggplant in coconut milk and saag paneer, all unique and delicious. Even the sauces that came out with the papadum, which generally taste the same at all indian restaurants, were special.

Boy, I sure see a lot of five star reviews from people who have reviewed two or three places! Bottom line is that the food here is overpriced, and unremarkable. Samosas had a nice texture, a bit drier than usual on the inside. Chicken tikka was just kind of flat, maybe underspiced, or not quite charred. Piece of kabob-stick in the meat. These are little differences. The main things that distinguish this place are: — Delivery takes f o r e v e r. 65 minutes to our door after being promised ’30−45′. — Food is expen$ive. Now, I love paying for quality. This just isn’t quality.

YUM. Such a great spot in the neighborhood– a quiet and warm interior on a pretty block still convenient to Flatbush Ave. Best to go with a group of 4 at the largest, since it’s a small place. The most important thing to realize about this restaurant is that it’s not like any other. I often order Indian food without even looking at the menu — I know the few dishes I like best, and I consistently enjoy them with a few happy surprises if a restaurant has particularly fresh ingredients or an interesting spice blend. This menu isn’t huge, but it offers so much more than standard Indian restaurant fare. There were many dishes I’d never seen before, and even the typical dishes — like onion naan! — were more flavorful and fresh than I’m accustomed to. Korma is delicious. Saw so many ingredients I just normally don’t see on Indian menus, and lots of interesting flavors in vegetable dishes. The vegetable tikki masala was particularly great. Finally, the waiter was knowledgeable and quick and the manager(or owner?) was attentive and friendly.

Long and detailed reviews are great, but nobody reads them, and I want everyone to read this. This is not the same Indian place you’ve ordered from 100 times, even though its been 30 different places that have opened, closed, etc. etc. If you want bland Chicken Tikka Masala, go to one of those standard places. But if you actually like the cuisine of Indian food, and are sick of the standard bland and oily dishes that are geared towards American tastes, then try this place. This is what you will get if you eat at an Indian home. Delicious and fresh tasting dishes that really do it justice. About the only thing that differed from my meals(albeit vegetarian) at Sanskriti and my meals in India is the amount of spice. Sanskriti understandably tones it down as to not shock their customers. But otherwise this is the type of Indian food that turns the cuisine from a niche pig out meal to something you could conceivably eat every day and feel great, healthy, and not get bored by. I absolutely love this place and I hope that it stays open for a long long time. I intend to order more frequently from here just to do my part in trying to make that happen, and I urge you to do the same.

I was super skeptical. The Indian and Thai places on this block of 7th Avenue have repeatedly switched names in the time I’ve lived in the neighborhood, but have remained consistently terrible. Maybe since the new Thai place next door, Olieng, was finally edible, it gave me renewed hope for the block. I know the two are unrelated, but still… ANYWAY, went Sanskriti for lunch and was not only pleasantly surprised, was downright impressed. Good, clean Indian food with an excellent balance of spice and flavor. A lot of unique dishes I haven’t seen at other Indian places. Both my wife and I were very happy with our orders and the lunch special was a good deal. Hope this place survives the block of doom. I think we finally have a keeper. Will definitely return soon.

I ordered from here today thinking the restaurant was still Amin, which I quickly realized was not once I arrived. Ok, no big deal, new owner– happens all the time. The décor is nicer than it used to be. I personally liked the old chef more. I always order the same thing — chicken tikka masala, saag paneer and two naans, I didn’t enjoy my meal as much as I did before. I took away four stars because of being over charged. A little tip for you– it’s not a good way to start your business. I ordered today from them at specifically 1:57pm, which qualifies for their lunch special(finishes at 3pm). This means I should I have been charged $ 7 for the chicken, $ 6 for the vegetable and $ 3 for the extra fee they charge on their vegetable dish. Instead I was charged $ 24. $ 10 for their veggie and $ 10 for their chicken dish and $ 4 for their bread. PS Im already being overcharged for their veggie dish too, their menu advertises $ 9 for this veggie dish. One final kicker, they actually had the audacity to say to me, we gave you rice and didn’t charge you for it. I know being overcharged is petty but it makes you think, is this business trustworthy-me thinks not. Take this review as a cautionary review for anyone who will order from them. Review your receipt, I didn’t realize what happened until I looked at their menu and only then I realized what happened. I don’t expect to come back. Nor will I recommend the place to anyone.
