Premier League Bars, or Football Bars in general, are a scarcity in NYC, but Iona on Grand St. in Williamsburg is my favorite place to go to catch a game. Great atmosphere, incredible draught beers, multiple TV’s streaming different games, and an outdoor beer garden with a ping pong table! This little bar isn’t small when it comes to character, and you’ll be hearing plenty of banter amongst the locals, trying to defend United’s poor run of form. If you’re a fan of the EPL, here’s a definite place to stop by, watch some Prem, and grab a pint(or several) of Guinness.

Low key spot with a bunch of hipsters. There was a live band playing scottish tunes of something when i was there. Thats a perk if you’re into that. On the plus side they had free hot apple cider for patrons to take. Staff was friendly and they came to clear glasses at a timely fashion.

We came here to watch the Chelsea vs Barca match on a weekday. Bartenders seemed pretty lonely, hitting up a couple of ladies when we walked in, but the place got more lively as the night progressed. Good selection of beer and whiskey, and despite the fact that they do serve some bar grubs, you’re allowed to order deliveries, which we totally did. Plenty of digital panels, big and small, to satisfy your needs. Also tons of board games for the more intellectual crowd. Sadly, the night was marred by them turning off the projector before the match was over. To be fair, we didn’t know there would be a penalty shoot out either.

We loved the combination of friendly bartenders, good selection of drinks, a peaceful atmosphere in commercialized Williamsburg, and the camaraderie a ping pong table creates! I would highly recommend this bar based on my experience here.

gross bathroom, good chunes, cheap beer and decent bartender. Hello, Brooklyn, this is exactly what I wanted from you!

welcoming place with spacious outdoor backyard that has a large screen tv to watch any sports games. The inside of the bar has several large screen tvs as well. I went to watch the game and liked the very casual mood of the place. Drank the KOPPARBERG Pear cider which is very good. If you’re into table tennis they have that out back, too.

Iona is my favorite bar in the whole world… really! For the old school williamsburger to the new preppy hipster. From the reggae chilled out Sunday evening, to the ultra cool electrical Wednesday night. Hang in the back yard for your afternoon ping pong, or scream your longs out for your Champions League’s team. You can catch up with the dudes, and you can hook up with a lady. Go to Iona, feel the love, and have a beer!

My husband and I stopped in for a drink while we were in Williamsburg. OK selection of beer and the service was alright. I didn’t really enjoy the set up of the bar, or the nasty smell coming from the floors. It’s a dive alright, but not one of the cleanest I’ve been to. I also have to add, although I haven’t seen this posted by other Unilocalers, but one of the bathrooms is absolutely disgusting. Apparently there are two unisex restrooms here, one which is average and one that is gross. I used the bathroom in the way back. It was so small and disgusting and I had to hold my breath the whole time. It was worse than a porta potty. It was so bad that when we were cashing out, I had to use the bathroom again, and I chose to wait because of how bad it was. I believe there is another restroom that is better, but whatever you do, don’t go in the back one.

Fantastic soccer bar. Happened upon this place which by some miracle seems to be the local hang out for my EPL team of choice(Manchester United). They open up early foe EPL games — I’ve been there for bother 7a and 830a games. Plus they always have $ 3 Yuenglings which make it easy to justify more rounds than you intended. Bartender is always very friendly and makes sure we’re taken care of. I’m working on becoming a regular.

Absolutely love this place! Opens early for Premier League games, time depending on game times– you can join their mailing list for full list of games/times. Mostly a Man U bar but since they play everything(including La Liga and Champions) other fans come in as well. Has an awesome indoor and outdoor atmosphere, this is a great bar whether you’re there for a match or not. Great beer selection, decent happy hour and $ 4 Yuengling’s all day– every day don’t hurt either. Sort of do food, they do savory pies and panini’s. You can bring or order food in for the early matches, not sure about other times though. CASHONLY!

I came here randomly about 5 years ago and had such a good time on a Friday night listening and shaking my booty to the music that i’ve been coming here regularly on Fridays ever since to do the same thing! the DJs keep this place fresh and it’s great to have a neighborhood bar that still has such a thing. The staff and vibe of this place are unsurpassed in Brooklyn. This truly has become my favorite bar. Man, i wish i was there right now shaking my ass!

I really enjoy stopping by this bar if I’m in the Grand/Bedford area. The bartenders are friendly, it’s super low key, and the back patio is really pretty and chill. Pretty nice beer selection and really good happy hour deals!

No nonsense place. They always have good beer selection, show EPL and other soccer matches, have a great patio and nice people; everything I love under one roof. Not pretencious, just a good all-around bar. Ps. I met my girlfriend there and 4 years later got engaged at Ionas. That’s how special this place is to us.

Figured it was a gay bar considering there was not a single female in the place, but then I realized it was because of a soccer match. Well, soccer is pretty gay, so close enough. Great pub, with friendly bartenders and even more friendly clientele. Reasonably priced drinks, but like cash only(which is shocking to us Angelenos, but I guess it’s not so uncommon on the East Coast).

Good times were had here. Im not going to say much more than others have. The back area is awesome. Come here and get worked on the pong table. Drinks are fairly priced too. Worth the trip,

As part of Unilocal Drinks Week, my husband and I decided to check out this bar outside of our usual Manhattan zone. Peter D. hosted a small, casual Unilocal gathering at Iona in Williamsburg, BK where they were offering 50% discounted drinks of Stella on draft for $ 3 and Monkey Shoulder Scotch for $ 4 plus tons of free pizza provided by Williamsburg Pizza. Iona is a really chill, low-key bar, small in size but cozy and inviting. It seems like a local hot spot that’s different from your standard Irish pub. I’m not too familiar with the bars in the Williamsburg area, so this was a good opportunity to check out a place outside of the usual Manhattan stratosphere. I invited a friend over who actually lives only two blocks away from this place, and she loves this bar. It’s a considerably small and narrow place, but they have plenty of small tables and bar stools and seating in the back area. We were here on a Thursday night, and there was a good amount of people, so I can imagine this place gets packed on Fridays and weekends as well. The back area has plenty of available board games to play like Monopoly, Connect Four, Jenga, and Scattergories, so you can grab a bench/table and have a drink while playing some games with friends. I’m also told they have an outdoor patio with a ping pong table, so that’s something I need to check out during the warmer seasons. The bartenders are very friendly and tend to your orders. All in all, great local Williamsburg bar where you can just chill out with some drinks and play games with friends.

I crossed two rivers to get to this cool hip spot in Williamsburg called Iona. Being that it was Unilocal Drinks week, I wanted to check out some places that I don’t usually go out to. It was a very cold, windy, Thursday and Peter D. was having a CMYE out at this bar with pizzas provided by Williamsburg Pizza. The specials for the week were a Stella Artois draft for $ 3 and Monkey Shoulder Scotch for $ 4. Remember, this place is CASH only. Iona is really easy to get to from NYC, just hop on the L train to Canarsie and from Union Square it’s only 3 stops. Then get out at Bedford Avenue, walk 5 blocks down Driggs Avenue and hang right at Grand(you’ll see a bright movie theater). When you enter, it’s a shotgun style room, very warm and cozy with great use of every square inch. To the right, there’s a booth for 8 people and the left a bunch of tables that seat 6 – 8 also. To the right is the bar(a very full bar at that, they have everything that you can think of) with bar seats all around. There’s plenty of bourbon, whiskey, and scotch here and there’s even a chalkboard just for that above the piano(see photo). In the back of the bar, there are even more seats and 2 bathrooms(which is always nice). The space is really cozy and homely, and you’ll see a bookcase with books and board games like Yahtzee, Connect Four, and Jenga. There’s a backyard patio which has a ping pong table and would definitely venture back in the warmer months to check out. This is the kind of place that’s great for a group of friends to just kick back and unwind.
