Honestly don’t know how this place has such a high rating. The dumplings here were not good. The dough is super thick and the meat was a bit dry. 90% of places on 8th ave make better dumplings with their eyes closed. Also tried the buns here, not great but ok. Went here because of reviews and was not impressed at all

You know one thing that I feel like Bay Ridge lacked when I first moved here was the amount of quality asian food. I saw this place while driving down 3rd avenue when I had to stop by to check it out. Like many have mentioned, it’s definitely a take-out and delivery place more so than a sit in place(but they do have limited seating inside which is kind of a self-service deal). I have to start off by saying that the food tastes really clean and fresh. You could see when you order that in the back they are rolling the little dumplings once you order. Yes — they’re made to order! They have also a ton of other stuff on the menu that’s worth checking out. they have some pork/beef buns that almost kind of look like gyro’s. Definitely worth trying, especially because they’re so cheap!(I think 2 for $ 5)? The price is pretty good for what you’re getting — also, if you pick up or eat in, don’t forget to check in on Unilocal for a free milk tea! It’s really tasty!

The food was terrific and very cheap given the portions. Definitely recommend this place. Food can be taken to go or eaten at the restaurant as they have a number of tables available.

My food arrived with bible quotes on the outside of the bags. If I knew my money was being used to promote propaganda, I would have happily spent it elsewhere. This is the last time I’m ordering from Kathy’s Dumplings. I had been a frequent customer in the past. Dumplings and price are both very good though.

Awesome little dumpling spot in Bay Ridge. Try the wonton soup… Def not your typical wonton from your local Chinese spot.

Love this place. A little expensive but so is everything in this area. I was so happy to find a place in Bay Ridge that serves soup dumplings. I was a little disappointed by the soup dumplings here but i guess its as good as its gonna get so far from chinatown. Nice place to stop by when you are craving dumplings!

Had this place bookmarked for awhile and ticked it off the list when my dad and I were looking for a place for lunch. It’s not a huge place, but doesn’t need to be, as it looks like they do mostly takeout and delivery(according to the guy we spoke to, their delivery range extends all the way to 17th or 18th avenue!). We ordered three things — the pan fried pork dumplings, the the Indian pancake, and the beef noodle soup. The Indian pancake came first. It was basically like a scallion pancake(without the scallions) and filled with curry chicken. Not bad. The fried dumplings were weird. They were half pan fried(only one side was crunchy), they were more round than long(more like soup dumplings), and weren’t as good as Brooklyn Chinatown(or Manhattan). Kai Feng Fu in Brooklyn still gets my vote for best in NYC. The beef noodle soup at Kathy’s was okay, but kind of bland. Hand Pull Noodle and Dumpling House on 18th ave is better, so if that’s close enough to you, order delivery from them instead. I do appreciate that they offer a free milk tea with Unilocal check-in, but probably won’t be returning. It’s a sign of the times for Bay Ridge to expand their cuisine options(mostly for white people), but hey, whatever sticks.

Meh. The vegetable dumpling was pretty good but the beef soup was horrible. Not sure if I will order from here again.

Ordered these steamed purple skinned dumplings. Was not flavorful at all. It’s really overpriced for what it is.

Still blows away any dumpling in Chinatown — Kathy’s pork dumplings NEVER have that nasty gristle, glob of disgusting fat that you bite into every time you eat a Chinatown pork dumpling– just recently discovered the soup dumplings(though they are called something else on the menu which is probably why I never tried them before) and they rock also — Kathy food is always hot and fresh and delicious and delivery us fast :)

I’ve lived in Bay Ridge for about a year and half and will be moving soon. I won’t miss anything about living in Bay Ridge except one thing. That is Kathy’s Dumplings. The Brooklyn Beet company and Tano Reen are pretty good too in the area. But the only place I will truly truly miss is Kathy’s dumplings.

Everything we’ve tried here has been great. Far and away our most favorite dish is the pan fried pork dumplings. Delicious. We always get an order of that along with something else. Don’t be an idiot like me and forget they are closed on Sundays. They are closed on Sundays! Don’t go there expecting dumplings then! lol.

Very good dumplings, I had the fried pork dumplings, steamed pork dumplings and taro bubble tea. Very tasty I would definitely return. Staff was friendly. I wanted to try the rice puffing but they said they had none that was the only disappointment. Try them it’s worth the trip.

The Arugula w/Pear salad is amazingly delicious! I will definitely buy two next time. The juicy pork buns are good too. Next time, I will try the pan fried buns because although the flavor was great on the steamed juicy pork buns, I was not big on the texture. The passion bubble tea is great and refreshing.

Stumbled upon this restaurant through seamless so I decided to give this place a try because I was craving some dumplings. Ordered through seamless and the food came pretty quick. When I first opened the order, I was like ‘why did they give me milk tea tapioca? I ordered the passion fruit bubble tea’ because it looked like milk tea instead of orange looking. Took a sip and was like ‘ohhhhh, this is good’; it was passion fruit flavored. The color of it threw me off but it was good. Maybe next time I’ll get the passion fruit flavored tea with tapioca. The pan fried dumplings was pretty good, crispy and still warm. The steamed juicy pork bun(xiao long bao) was indeed juicy and they were pretty big. The chicken kebab was dry. The indian pancake, the pancake itself was good, but the curry chicken they put on it was dry.

Ordered via GrubHub with no issues. Took maybe an hour from order to delivery(lunch). Cucumber salad 5/5, probably easy to miss on the menu but it was really well made with great flavor. Steamed Chicken celery dumplings 4⁄5. Pretty good, light but filling. Would order again

So delicious! Pan fried pork dumplings were fantastic, the cabbage pork dumplings were amazing, the special summer rolls were like a delicious bowl of phở(minus the broth of course). I will be back as soon as I can.

Maybe it’s my fault for expecting too much. For such a special place like this, the neighborhood should appreciate. They server really good quality food and variety of dumpling. I like the noodle a lot. The face it’s really nothing special for me. I would go to 8th ave for much better and cheaper selection. The pork soup dumpling they made here is lack of flavor and can use more filling. As for the beef dumpling, I honestly can’t feel the meat.

Kathy’s Dumplings is set up to be more of a take out/delivery rather than sit in place. There is seating available, but soups are brought out in to-go containers and dumplings on plastic plates. We were surprised at how clean the food tasted. That alone makes them stand out from other Chinese restaurants in the area. Everything was being made in the kitchen to order so it did take longer than what we’re accustomed to… I thought that their dumplings tasted a little bland. I had to drown them in sauce to get a flavor I liked. The wonton soup was very good and I loved the scallion pancake. I was so full that I almost passed on the free milk tea you get from checking into Unilocal, but I’m glad I didn’t — it was a nice finish to our meal. I would definitely order from here again, but I think we’ll ask for delivery next time.

Wow what a great spot in Bay Ridge! Great variety of dumplings and drinks! Their juicy pork buns are not to be missed! I’ve had Joe’s Shanghai, Nan Xiang dumpling house, Shanghai café and even dumplings from Shanghai and this is quite comparable. These are the biggest soup dumplings I’ve had in NYC. The soup is not as flavorful as Nan Xiang but still worth trying. While I waited for my food I noticed they take a while because they make it fresh from scratch! I saw them pressing the dough in the little window by the menu. It’s great to see that the food was made on the spot and not taken from the freezer. The juicy meat with steamed bun reminded me of the spicy lamb cumin burger from Xi’an Famous Foods. The bread and flavors are quite similar. It’s about a dollar cheaper than Xi’an. Don’t forget to check in for a free hot milk tea! Be sure to ask for sugar, it was a bit bitter when I drank it. P. S. Credit card minimum is $ 10!
