Noticed the change in the décor and the menu, so I gave the new Bar Reis offshoot a try. I was very pleasantly surprised with my experience. I tried a sampling of the oysters on the half shell and some of the small plates(e.g. Wild Boar Prosciutto, Mangalica Spanish Ham, Asparagus Milanese), and all were excellent. The helpful and friendly service and the relaxed atmosphere(cozy neighborhood feel w/great music) made it all the more enjoyable. All in all, a great neighborhood spot with a small, but interesting menu. I’m planning to try the Short Ribs or Pork Tonnato Sandwich on my next visit.

This is a great spot for this awesome wine bar! The stand out dish, hands down, was the trout almondine with whipped potatoes. I scraped my plate clean. Also of note was the braised endives. Really excellent. I saw a BLT go out and I am definitely intrigued, I’ll have to check that out next time! It looks like the food is all available at the bar next door now too!

I was excited to see high quality ingredients on this menu. The cheeses and meats in particular are incredibly delicious. Unfortunately, the small plates concept is as bad as the mini sandwich concept it replaced. Both are expensive and leave you hungry. I think this could be a quality place for quick comfort food if they had bigger portions, but paying $ 10 for a few vegetables isn’t exactly appetizing.
