At the counter, I was greeted by Sun, as the other representative was busy(I’ll get back to him later), and I told him I was interested in the $ 50 down payment for Samsung Galaxy S5 phone. He asked if I had my bank card and I.D. I told him I had my bank card but no I.D. He gave me a post-it and told me to write down my s.s. # which I did. I asked whether is it was needed for credit purposes and he replied no. I gave him all details to my account in which he asked if I wanted the bundle for the phone which included the glass protector. I told him I did not want it. He showed me a phone with a broken glass face and said«If you’re phone falls it may end up looking like this.» I showed him mine, which also had a broken face, and said«I know.» I informed him I only wanted a case which I would be buying separately. After he entered all the info, he told me I was approved for up to $ 900 but the amount of everything would be a total of $ 780 and my payments would me of $ 84 and my 1st payment was today. I asked about the cost being $ 780. He said it was for the phone, the upgrade fee, and taxes. Didn’t really have time to work it out in my head b/c he continued with questions asking whether I was paying weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly. I told him bi-weekly and it should start on the 15th of August. He called a representative to verify everything was successful and so that they can speak with me about the total being $ 780. Done… I asked for everything that was on my current phone to be transferred to the new phone. He said that I can go home and transfer the files via my computer using a USB. He also added that when I logged into my Google account that it would transfer automatically. Sun asked me if I were buying the case with my card or cash. I told him cash. He came out and helped me pick out a case for my particular phone. At the counter now, he says«I’ll give you a discount for both the case and the glass protector for $ 20.» I asked if it would be added to the $ 84 I had to pay on my card today and he said, «No, cash.» It sounded like a good deal so I agreed. My first transaction was completed which Sun handed me the folded up receipt for. He started processing the cash transaction. Fortunately, I opened my receipt and what did I see. Not only was the purchase of the phone, with wrong plan service, and $ 15 upgrade fee on it but the phone case and glass protector was included as well. I immediately asked why was it added to the bill after I said I didn’t want the bundle deal, not the glass protector and requested to pay for the case separately. He tried to tell me that it was the cost of the SIM and he had to itemize the receipt. I said the SIM is included with the phone. He said that it wasn’t, which is when I asked the cost of it. He said $ 15. I said, «Well 30 and 20 do not add up to 15.» He tried to make an excuse as to why the items were on the receipt and that he would add the $ 20 to my financed payment. Puzzled, I asked how. Frustrated that he couldn’t get one over on me, he showed me the same broken phone and shouted, «So you want your phone to look like this.» In which, I replied, «That’s why I’m getting a case.» At this time, he went to the staff room and came back speaking on the phone to someone in another language. He asked again if I wanted the glass protector and again I told him no. He angrily went into the register and gave me a $ 20 bill, took back my receipt and handed another receipt along with the original that had the refund amount of $ 20. Not the $ 20.80 plus tax for the glass but just $ 20. One of the 2 associates who were watching asked the other(Nelson) what was going on. Nelson replied that he’ll tell him later. After looking at my receipt again I asked for service plan to be restored to the one I had. Nelson stepped in and took over looking over what Sun was processing on the computer. He called the operator in which he asked what service plan I had. After that was verified he asked for it to be restored and prorated so that I wouldn’t lose any minutes for the billing cycle. He told me he fixed it and my service should be good now. I walked out but returned. When I entered again, Sun asked if I needed help with anything else. I waved my finger no to him but walked up Nelson and told him I just wanted to know his name so that when I made my complaint I can let them know that he was the one who helped me. He said thank you and I walked out. I’m not sure if it’s b/c I’m black & the black ppl in the neighborhood are considered«uneducated» why Sun thought he could pull a fast one on me. However, I find it to be deceitful, that not only would he fold up the receipt and hand it to me with purchases that I didn’t request but he also tried to take an extra $ 20 from me which is considered theft.
