Bar tenders are always there to take your order and make you feel recognized unlike most places where you have to wave your hand for ten minutes to get acknowledged.

Honestly, I would give this place zero stars if I could. The bartender had little to no social skills and actually told me that I «cannot order my drink again». It was a margarita– which is one of the first drinks taught in bartending school. The bartender made no attempt to have any conversation with us after we asked her questions and rushed us out of our seats. She also took our half full drink and dumped it out as a member of our party was using the rest room. This was after receiving a far more than 20% tip. I have never left a negative Unilocal review, but this service calls for that. Do not be allured by their decent prices because their service compensates for that.

I’m falling in love with this place!
At first I thought it would be too divey, but I really love the atmosphere here. It’s just so chill and casual. Fantastic music, mostly rock/​alternative. They have a great happy hour every day until 8pm, and their prices are incredibly affordable regardless. Mixed drinks are strong too!
I love their speciality shots. Get a pickle shot. it’s pickle juice and vodka that you chase with a whole pickle! Yum. They have mushroom shots and herring shots too but I’m not adventurous enough for that!

Within 5 minutes of arriving I had a pickled herring shot (a toothpick with a very very healthy amount of pickled herring on it over a shot of vodka) in my hand and Joy Division was playing in the background, what more could you ask for?
They have some great Czech beers as well as a good variety of American craft brews. I’ll be back to try the mushroom shot!

I avoided the bar that used to be here because I often found their servers rude (to women, in particular), and it just didn’t seem worth dealing with that when there were so many other great bars in the area. I was thrilled to see that another bar had taken its place, and after hanging out at the North Pole, I’m a very happy gal.
They’ve got a nice beer selection with some great international options (the dude and I both went this route, getting a German pils and Czech pils respectively), but have no fear: they’ve got a lovely slate of domestic craft as well. The bartender was friendly and efficient, and the layout is open enough to allow for conversation without loud music or people sitting rightontopofyou. And what’s not to love about a happy hour that goes until 8PM? Nothing, there is nothing not to love about that (I know I’m committing a terrible faux pas with the double negatives. Oh well).
Don’t let the default «office building» logo on Unilocal and the title of the bar fool you: the North Pole is warm and welcoming. I can imagine that Santa would be proud to call it home.

Cute atmosphere, friendly staff, reasonable drink prices, the perfect volume that you can have a conversation without it feeling too quiet. What more could you ask for?

Good neighborhood place, appreciate the TV-​free life, relatively tranquil. Thumbs up.

Love this bar. The staff are awesome. Background music doesn’t make you shout at the person next to you. Try the shot specials!

The North Pole Pub is a welcome addition to the space formerly known as Black Sheep. The total redo is awesome. The owners and staff are from 718 so they know how to run a bar. As a whiskey drinker I love the large ice cube. Come down and check it out.

Very chill spot in the old black sheep space, by the guys who own Bar 718 in the south slope and you will run into a lot of 718’s regulars here. Very relaxed open atmosphere, great beer selection, great place to watch games without feeling like you’re in a fratty sports bar. A refreshing change from the rest of the bar scene that’s popping up around Barclay’s, super conversational customers and a great, attentive staff, really happy to see a great place in this very hallowed space.
