We had been wanting to go here for awhile and we finally did. Overall, we had a pretty good experience. Here’s how it went: Pros: –We had the bacon appetizer and two of the sandwiches. Everything was very good. Glaze on the appetizer was pretty thick but the bacon itself was really delicious. –The smashed potatoes weren’t cheesy at all but I really enjoyed them. I did not like the cream cheese cornbread — it was almost like eating a dessert and it seemed full of syrup. I regretted not getting the mac and cheese because the person seated next to me had it and it looked really good. –Portions were great — not too big, not too small and I felt full after eating. Cons: –Like the experiences others had, they probably listed 3 – 4 things they had already run out of before 8PM on a weekend when they are open until 11PM. –Service was a little too attentive. I must have been approached a million times. I was still standing up and attempting to take off about five hundred layers when I was already approached to see if I knew what I wanted to drink. –When you can hear everyone around you being offered something on the house except you, hmm…

Great brisket and bacon on a stick. Still have yet to try their ribs. Great to know that Bay Ridge has a decent bbq spot for once.

They didn’t have brisket yesterday but we were told they would have it today. With much anticipation, we asked the cashier, they have the Brisket! We were planning to get chicken. They didn’t have it. Instead, we ordered half rack of ribs along with Smoked Brisket and pulled pork. We asked for the Original Pig Guy BBQ sauce to go. The first bite of the pulled pork was juicy and tender. It was perfect with the bbq sauce. As for the brisket, it was a little dry but we would have like if there was more fat in the brisket. As for the ribs, the marinade was good with their bbq sauce. Overall, the damage was $ 53. Service: 5⁄5 stars The cashier, owner and cook were friendly. Food: 4⁄5 stars Therefore, I would recommend this bbq restaurant if you haven’t tried it yet.

Came here with my wife and ordered two platters and a bacon stick. The portions are huge, Way too much for just two person. I suggest ordering one platter and maybe a side for two person. prices are great considering how much you get in the service was awesome. Will definitely come back again what if I have a barbecue craving Update — Came back again cause I was craving bbq! Ordered a pork belly appetizer, Monday special chicken and waffle, and double porker sandwich. Yums but as always my wife and I ordered too much lol. Portions were big and filling but so delicious.

In short: Arrived at 9PM on a Saturday night. Service was friendly and brisket is a must try. Only ding was because they ran out of ribs by this time, which was what I was mainly looking forward to. Extended Version: Called the restaurant for availability prior to going as it was a last minute decision for a group of 7 and they were able to accommodate us. Staff was very friendly and was always roaming around to check up on us and assist. Took us some time to order food for the table but when we settled on what we’d share, they informed us that they were unfortunately out of ribs. We ended ordering 3 lbs of brisket, 1 lb of pulled pork, 16 wings, 2 bacon on a stick, and sides of waffle fries, Mac n cheese, beans, collard greens, smashed potatoes and finished the meal off with a slice of strawberry and regular cheesecake. That was good enough for 7 «normal» sized people. I would highly recommend the brisket and will try to go back and try the ribs another time.

If you’re hankering for some bbq and lots of pork then«slap that pig» at Pig Guy. He knows his way around some good brisket and pulled pork. Their«Pig Face» Tanker burger is filled with sauce and oils. The pork flavor was there for sure. Be warned it gets messy and will be an overfilling meal. Add nachos, waffle fries and Mac n’Cheese then you’re one meal here will offset an entire weeks worth of cardio. It’s good bbq but there’s little in alternatives to their pork and fried food options. I’m a fan of the pig in all its cooked glory but the brisket and pulled pork tasted similar, if not the same. The bbq sauces available, and was put into the burger before it served by default, overpower the flavors of the true porkiness.

Came here on a saturday afternoon with some friends for lunch. The place was empty and we were seated quickly. We started off with some BBQ nachos with jalapeño cheese and a little bacon. They messed up and added some pulled pork on it but at least they were nice enough to come out to ask us if it was ok because the chef added it in already. When the nachos came out we did not see the tiny pieces jalapeño that was supposed to be there. The nachos did tasted good though. The chips were similar to a pita bread. We also had some 5 cheese mac and cheese. It was mediocre. Tasted like your typical mac and cheese and nothing special. Had their pig face tanker with a side of waffle fries. The sandwich was huge. The pulled pork in the sandwich was soft and flavorful. The waffle fries were somewhat of a disappointment. Not as crispy as I would like. Overall, the service was fast and friendly. Their pulled pork is really good but I not sure if that is enough to get me to come back for a second visit.

I had my birthday party here in December and it was the best. They played the Knicks and Monday Night Football on the TVs for me, my friends were able to arrive at their own leisure and order their own stuff… it was a very nice and fun experience. Really really good place for a small get together or birthday/company party. OHYEAH, THECHEESCAKEISRIDICULOUS.

This place is great ! The staff is friendly and the food is fantastic ! We walked into this place seeking shelter from the cold and the furious wind. An employee who was typing furiously on his notebook greeted and sat us down. A different employee came over shortly to take our order. She advised us of today’s special and left us to contemplate which of the delicious items to order. My buddy and I did not order the special, instead we had the Mac N Cheese, Ribs, and the Pulled Pork Sandwich. There is beer available but I do not think they have tap. The glass bottled root beer was awesome. Our orders came just as fast as it took for us to consume them. I wish I had a bigger stomach to eat more food ! We decided to rest a for a little bit to try the Waffle Fries. Finally after we really could not eat anymore, we asked for the check. On our way out, everyone said good bye(even the boss ^^). The waitress is very personable. She gave great advice on what to order after describing what we wanted. Every so often she would check up on all the patrons to see if everything is okay. When she was not attending to the customers, she is busy at work behind the counter. Superb food coupled with wonderful customer service = excellent experience :)

I had never heard of this restaurant until I saw them offer a great discount offer through Groupon. I visited this restaurant one Saturday afternoon and was able to try their ribs as well as the kale salad. The ribs were served without a sauce on them and were very meaty. I can not honestly say that they were the best ribs I had in the Bay ridge area but they were good. I did appreciate that they were not heavy on salting their meat because the ribs were flavorful without being excessively salty. The sauces were good as well but I didn’t get to taste their Thai version. The kale salad was surprisingly delicious and unexpected for a BBQ restaurant. I also noticed at the last minute that they served desserts from Robicelli’s which is a definite plus for me. Their was no table service offered but the cashier was friendly and took our order in a timely manner. The wait time was not excessive. I will definitely return to try the brisket and more of their ribs.

The pulled pork isn’t bad, I don’t know if they have an actual smoker like true bbq joins do but the pulled pork and smashed potatoes are good… what’s not good is that disgusting tai chili bbbq sauce they slather all over the meat– it’s bbq, just use a good bbq sauce Best Bbq was RUB in NYC — They closed after hurricane sandy, we haven’t had good out of smoker bbq since

Came here for the first time because it was a new restaurant and we couldn’t decide Where to eat, ordered the brisket the empenada and the smashed potatoes. I honestly thought the smashed potatoes and the empenada was mediocre and would not order those again but I thought the beef brisket was delicious! I don’t have to go all the way to dinosaur for briskest now! Today happened to be the first day they were doing table service it used to be a just order sit. Eat and go type of place. Honestly I would have preferred the order and serve yourself service as opposed to the table service because when we were seated nobody brought us the menu, the waitress asked what we wanted to drink and then went to get it and it seemed like she forgot it for the table next to us as well. Maybe cause it was a new routine? But yea. We got the menu ourselves and when we gave them the credit card to pay for the bill it took a while to come back. I would rate this a 3.5 but I rounded up because the owner came by and offered us a little more brisket because the other cuts he gave us was thinner and because of the slow service… I thought this was really nice of him and I loved the brisket so yay for me! I would definitely come back for more briskets, other stuff I might pass on. $ 24/lbs for those who were wondering and you have the option of ordering ¼ or ½lb. You have to try the thai sauce

Man, I had such high hopes for this place since it’s near where I live. What’s a girl gotta do to get some smokey, slow cooked melt in your mouth meat? I tried the pulled pork and brisket, neither fulfilled that craving. It is just regular cooked pork and brisket, no special spices. The brisket was pretty tough too, maybe too lean or not cooked long enough. The only thing BBQ about it is the sauce you put on it. Even that tasted like something I can buy at a grocery store. Maybe I’ll try the bacon next time but so sad about the rest of the items… :(

This is an updated review: i got an order of ribs originally that were WAY overdone, incredibly burnt, I posted a review about it and I got a response from George within a couple of minutes. He was a stand up guy and promptly resent the order. This time around the ribs were moist and looked great, unfortunately i was already full but my roommate said it was delicious. Mistakes can happen and i’m glad they stand by their product!

One word. Bacon! This is an awesome place. The barbecue is tasty! Mac and cheese is hearty. The portions of shredded pork and beef brisket are generous. My favorite has to be the bacon on a stick. We had the salted caramel one and it was great. The price is not too bad either. I will be returning. They also have a big screen to watch any sports games. This place is great.

After finally deciding what to order, we were told they ran out of ribs AND chicken… no way. How is it possible? It’s a barbecue joint! We really wanted some ribs… Either way, my husband and I shared the following: Pig Tanker Sandwich — Humungous sandwich stuffed with brisket, pulled pork, and cole slaw in between thick slices of toasted potato bread. The pulled pork was tender and flavorful, rough pieces of brisket, cole slaw was sweet. Brisket Platter — Meat was a bit dry, also wished the pieces of brisket were sliced a bit thinner. Side of Mac and Cheese — Not as creamy as I like my mac and cheese. Side of Potato Salad — You see a ton of specs of black pepper, honestly did not taste peppery at all. Also, did not think there was much flavor. Kale Salad — Most memorable part of my meal. Crispy, fresh kale, chopped and tossed with tomatoes in a tangy, vinegary dressing. Delicious. Maple Sriracha Glazed Bacon — Sweet, yet spicy. Super thick slice of pork belly on a stick. Not as tender as I expected, but worth a try. I’ve had this spot hidden in my list of bookmarks since The Pig Guy opened its doors. Well not anymore, cause I saw them on Groupon this morning. Their deal listed $ 25 for $ 50 worth of food, which I only paid $ 20 since Groupon was having a sale. I have read a couple reviews noting that their items were a bit pricey, so this deal came in real handy. Everything we had on our table(listed above) added up to the $ 50 cap we paid for. Would definitely be back for their Kale Salad, not too sure about anything else. Hope to try some ribs next time.

I am so happy this place opened in bay ridge! I just happened to stumble upon this restaurant recently. My friends and I decided to try the pulled pork and brisket. We also ordered the nachos as an appetizer. The staff gave us the Mac and cheese on the house so we also got to try that. I was really surprised at how good the pulled pork and brisket were. The pulled pork was extremely flavorful without being overly sweet like se other places. The beef brisket was so moist and tender, I was shocked. Obviously I’ve been eating the wrong brisket in the past because they were always so dry and tough. The nachos were loaded with different toppings and the Mac and cheese was very cheesy and good. Also, they make the slaw with red cabbage and it was refreshing to eat with the meal. I will definitely be back here for more of that brisket and pulled pork!

Good BBQ in Bay Ridge. With only 1 other real BBQ spot in Bay Ridge I was thrilled when this spot opened up. The service was extremely fast and the staff was very friendly. I decided to stroll up 3rd avenue and give this place a shot. I ended up ordering the pulled pork sandwich and the potato salad. The pork was pretty good but I was not really crazy about the potato salad. I also wasn’t too crazy about the bread that the pork was on. Unfortunately it was nothing like what I had expected. I ended up taking my food to go and spending about $ 16 between sandwich and side. I thought that was a bit more on the expensive side to not absolutely love my food. I am without a doubt going to be returning here because I really want to give this place another shot but I hope that the other sides will be better.

Around 7am last Wednesday, I got a text from JRZ. Since we typically only text that early in an emergency, I knew something important was happening. The text said«when can you go?» and included a link. It was an emergency. The link led me to a new restaurant that just opened up in her neighborhood. A restaurant that includes bacon /pork products in every menu item? Yes please! 2 days later, we sat down across from one another trying to figure out how to order every item on the menu without looking like pigs(It was going to happen at some point). Since this place does not have waiter service, we stood around the counter to try and figure out the specifics of our order. As we discussed our options, we noticed one of the employees watching us.^^^ He asked us what we were ordering and told us about a secret item that we needed to get. My friend and I worked together to get the most items while spending the least amount of money(insert cheap Jew joke here-wait aren’t we not allowed to eat pork?). I got the half rack platter which came with 2 sides. I tried the slaw and ordered mac and cheese for her. She got the brisket biscuit(secret item). Then we ordered a s’more bacon skewer because… bacon + s’more = the 2 best things on this planet. I typically don’t like saucy ribs, so I removed most of the extra sauce with my knife. The rest of it was a good blend of spicy and sweet. The meat was tender and gave me a bit of a mouth workout *** as I ripped it from the bone. The slaw was excellent! They used red(purple) cabbage and carrots. It was crunchy and mixed in some kind of vinegar sauce that was so subtle and slightly sweet. I could seriously eat that stuff every day. The mac and cheese was made with shells and perfectly cheesy. The brisket biscuit is a must! Now, I have somewhat mixed reviews on the s’more bacon skewer. On one hand, I loved all of its parts separately, but together, I kind of felt like my mouth was in some sort of evil war with itself. Do you want me to highlight the soft salty and savory bacon? Feel the crunchy graham dusting? Or do you want me to enjoy a melty sweet dessert? In the end, the sweet won, but only because I licked the chocolate sauce off the plate after the rest of it was gone. Whew. That could have been dangerous! *** I was recently informed by Jess P.(aka rib connoisseur, pork master, Chef Jess) that rib meat is not supposed to fall off the bone. When it does, it is considered over cooked. Who knew? Well, she did. ^^^ No, he wasn’t a creeper. He was actually the chef and he wanted to make sure that we would be able to experience the best of his menu.

My first stop in was great. Try the chorizo dog. This place has been under construction for nearly a year(I think it’s actually closer to 8 or 9 months) and it finally opened today. I stopped in just to check it out and try a quick bite so I got a chorizo dog. Delicious. They’re working out the kinks a little bit so give them some time. I’ll write a longer review after I stop back in(which will be soon) to try some of the entrees. Can’t wait.
