I guess we should have known better that everything in the neighborhood had a wait, except for this place. Shame on us and our desperation. Our table was hungry, but usually that means that we would eat anything and wouldn’t be picky. The only thing I have to say about the experience that was nice was the waitress was nice and had a sense of humor. We had to wait an unusual amount of time to get or appetizer and our actual meal. It was about an hour and a half. We had to ask for bread. We had to ask for oil. We had to ask for marinara to go with the calamari. The food was overpriced for the quantity of food that we received.($ 18 – 22 for 5 raviolis?) A lot of the food was very salty and had a lot of seasoning. Given the name — you would think the ravioli would be spectacular — although it sounded very delicious it wasn’t anything special. I would assume I could get the same in the frozen section — I’d get a lot more and it would be done in 8 – 10 minutes. The entire experience left a bad taste in our mouth. Literally.

BEWAREOFALLTHEFAKEFIVESTARREVIEWS!!! This place was the worst. Absolutely awful. Waste of time and money. Took over an hour for us to get our food, and the kicker? These are definitely out of the box FROZENRAVIOLIS. The owners of this place should be ashamed. $ 18 for a plate of five frozen raviolis. And $ 25 for a «large» calamari that had maybe, 15 pieces in it? Also, if you’re going to make your patrons wait for over an hour, at least bring out some bread. We had to ask for bread several times, and they joked that they would charge us for it. Hands down one of the worst dining experiences ever.

Worse NY Dining Experience, OBVIOUSLY fake reviews I love ravioli’s and I’m NOT a foodie, I’m a casual eater who likes most restaurants as long as you get your money’s worth. This place was the most poorly run spot I’ve ever been too. 25 $(for the large!?) for a salty calamari plate that would’ve been 15 $ or less at a higher class restaurant for the size, that took 30 mins to come out… Asked for bread 2 – 3 times while waiting(was not offered), each time bland bread came out with NOBUTTER no oil, asked for oil once and got about a teaspoon of it for 4 ppl. 45 mins later and starving, 5DEFINITELYFROZEN oversalted ravioli’s come out on each of our plates, as hungry as we were a couple of us didn’t even it eat em because the flavor was actually quite disgusting. Waitress was nice but bread with no butter or oil or anything? Rest of staff seemed annoyed the whole time. Staff looked at us multiple times during the night but not one person including our watress asked how the food was or apologized for keeping us for an hour and a half for food that could’ve been microwaved in 5 mins. I wish someone would’ve asked how our experience was because I would’ve told em I was upset to be spending my money on such a restaurant(won’t give them courtesy of calling em an «Italian restaurant»). Unfortunately they didn’t care to ask, others in the restaurant seemed equally as annoyed. Ignore the fake positive reviews, plenty of other good Italian restaurants in the area, this one definitely won’t make it past the 2 year mark. No way ppl came here and had a good dinner.

Came back after a Unilocal elite event(because the food was that good), and I have to say the quality of there raviolis tasted just as fresh! The food takes time but its worth the wait! The chef is from Italy, as is majority of the people who work there. The Raviolis were packed with flavor and the sauce was out of this world. I really enjoyed the regular cheese ravioli. I tried the pesto ravioli and the taste of pesto was very strong, which I wasn’t very fond of. The staff is very accommodating and gave us some bread and a little Italian zucchini thing to munch on while we waited. The bread was very good, the zucchini not very appetizing. The cannolis are amazing and fresh. Overall the food was really good, I just wish the restaurant wasn’t so cold. I think its because the entire front is glass. With all the restaurants/bars on smith street you can easily walk by it or drive by it and miss it! Its truly an Italian gem. Ravioli dishes range from 15 – 20 dollars. Sadly the portions are small and the dish only came with 5 ravioli, I wanted more! All in all will definitely return. Great food, very good service. The ambiance is romantic with Italian music playing in the background. Perfect for a date.

overall our experience was ok. We had read the reviews — knowing that the staff might be rude — which they sort of were — but really went for the food. The pear salad was amazing — great portion size. Antipasti of meat and cheese could’ve used a bit more cheese besides 2 thin slices of brie and chunks of parm. The meats and olives were delicious. The intention was there — just need to round it out. We had the pumpkin ravioli w sage cream sauce. Not to be confused with a brown butter sage sauce. The ravioli was delicious but there was barely any sauce, so it ended up feeling dry. Overall it was OK. It was very cold. I was told that they can not pull the curtain to stop the cold air coming in b. c then people wouldn’t be able to open the door. The solution is simple — put a rounded bathroom pole instead of a straight pole so you can open the damn door. Everyone near us was complaining about how cold it was — and I saw that in a few other reviews. Therefore you should FIXIT!

I believe the owner actually served us which made if very personable and she’s super sweet and helpful with picking her favorites. We got the mini meatballs(AMAZING…Yum), ravioli with Bolognese sauce(PERFECTION) and my fiancé had ravioli mushroom which he said were amazing! Def will be back!

Valentine’s Day nightmare had 8pm reservations waited for about 40 minutes before getting any food or water. There was only 1 waiter literally running back and forth between 2 rooms. No one apologized for the wait or explained why the wait so long, very unprofessional. Food was just average, my boyfriend had to ask multiple times what the problem was. Two couples walked out because they got fed up with waiting.

Worst New York dining experience I have had in years. Do not waste your time or money on this place. It took 45+ minutes to get served our food. While we waited they brought out a plate«on the house» that was some fruit and cheese pie that tasted as though it had been sitting out for a day or two. It was stale. The food was a step up from a microwaved dinner, but it was a step down from a ravioli dish I would expect at the local pizzeria. For an appetizer we had«zucchini and four cheese pie» that was literally some sliced pieces of zucchini with cheese melted on top of it. No actual«pie» here. My manicotti was soggy and basically fell apart on me. My girlfriend’s ravioli was completely ordinary. I could have made this food and it takes me 8 minutes to dice an onion. Terrible service and below average food(for a NY restaurant) make this an establishment to skip. Finally, most of the REVIEWS on here are FAKE. Read the last 8 or so reviews to check. Consider that when you’re evaluating this place. My guess is the owner asked a lot of friends to review this restaurant and they did as a favor.

The excitement starts, when you first enter in on Smith Street and drive towards Sackett St. and Degraw weather it be by train or by car, theres an excitement in the air on this block thats intoxicating. From all the adorable shops to shop and markets to peruse, one can work up an appetite fitting for the Ravioli Wine Bar. Upon entering the pre war structure with authentic brick walls and beams coupled together with a fresco painted backdrop you immediately are welcomed by owner Denise and seated. The lighting is very soft and its cozy elegant reflection with the floor to ceiling windows create an atmosphere that is just memorable… As soon as we were settled, together with our water being served, and have eyed the menu, Denise discusses various wines to be paired with what we’ll be eating. Minutes later we are greeted by our waiter and give our requests and arrives to the table are Tapas of eggplant, fish ensemble, cabbage salad and homemade croustades to accompany our Tapas. I started with the house salad, which is not an ordinary salad. Arugula mixed with other leafy vegetables, pecans and tossed with feta cheese then moving on to the Meatballs in Tomato Basil sauce which is mildly sweet and flavorful and good meal when looking for a protein dish. A place not just for raviolis, that being said my favorite is the classic… A simple tomato sauce which lightly dresses 5 pillows of the freshest raviolis you will swoon over! I never have room for desert. I usually enjoy sipping my Lambrusco which is a wine I have recently discovered. It is perfect for me as I am a Riesling fanatic and really enjoyed this lightly fruity fluffy wine both during and after my meal. Pleasantly surprised to have been complementary served butter cookies as well! You can see the cooks in the back preparing the meal as well as smell the garlic through out the restaurant. While we were there Elvira, came to the table to greet us and see how the meal was. I was very taken by the service and when ordering my tea my server Vito carefully displayed a wooden box of an array of teas to choose from. I love to end my meal with tea and look forward to returning to sketch the ambiance of this invitingly warm environment and eat perhaps, next time just for desert!

The ravioli wine bar is a real treat. The people, from the owner to the wait staff to the cooks, are incredible and warm… and very Sicilian! The food is absolutely cooked with love. I had a super delicious eggplant parmesan, yummy meatballs in red marinara sauce and the bread, and olive covered focaccia, is all home made! The food is rich and Delish, the wine pairings too! They also make classic desserts, I was to full from all the savory delights, but next time indeed! You are not going to want to miss this place.

Read the awesome reviews. Was a little skeptical because this place is new. But they did not disappoint. Pretty empty for yesterday’s cold Wednesday night. Only one other table dining. Was greeted, seated and immediately given water. I arrived before my friend. So I busied myself looking over the menu and wine selection. Nice dim lighting, great soothing music, a little chilly but the ambiance was very warm. We ordered the mussels alla diavola and eggplant parmigiana for appetizer. The pumpkin and the shrimp ravioli for entrees. We also ordered a bottle of chianti. We received complimentary traditional tapenade and a squid and octopus concoction(asked the server 3 times what it was. Couldn’t get a straight answer between the fast talking and mumbling). It was delicious nonetheless. Only complaint would be the toasted bread served with it was a little burnt. Mussels alla diavola was yummy. Great portion, well seasoned and flavorful. We asked for more bread to sop up the remains of the sauce. Eggplant parmigiana was a little disappointing. Not in flavor again well seasoned, sauce was great and decent portion. What’s the problem you ask? Way too much cheese. Not enough eggplant. I love cheese as much as the next rat. But it was just a really insurmountable amount of mozzarella. Not to mention the eggplant was very thinly sliced it was lost in the dish. The layer of mozzarella was actually thicker than the cut of eggplant. I ended up scraping all the cheese off my half and just ate the eggplant which was delicious. However balance is important. They should consider cutting the eggplant thicker or going lighter on the cheese. Pumpkin ravioli was phenomenal. I mean you got hints of nutmeg and cinnamon. The sage, butter, Parmesan cream sauce was well balanced and rich. Such a satisfying dish. Since you only get 5. My friend and I fought over the last one and then ended up ordering a second portion. It was that good. The shrimp ravioli was delicious. Hints of spice(crushed red pepper flakes). Can’t go wrong with shrimp stuffed ravioli covered in shrimp. Sauce was light but packed some flavor. Would have liked some type of cheese in or on the ravioli. If cheese was present couldn’t tell. They must have used it all on the eggplant parmigiana. The service was solid. Our waiter refilled out water glasses, he poured all our glasses of wine, cleaned our table in between, brought out share plates, set utensils for courses all without being prompted too. Overall attentive and efficient but not necessarily warm and friendly. Our food took awhile to come out. I’d say apps came out 20 – 25 minutes after we ordered. Which was a little excessive considering we were 1 of the 2 tables in the entire restaurant. But you can see into the kitchen and there was only one person. She was cooking with love and you could taste it in the food. Which is why I didn’t complain. We were too stuffed to get dessert. But they gave us complimentary almond biscotti and sfogliatelle. Both were great and a perfect end to the meal. I’ll definitely be back. I was sold once I had the first bite of pumpkin ravioli.

This place was pretty empty on New Years Eve and I’m a little surprised. It opened a couple months ago but the food is delicious and should keep people coming back for more. The ambiance of the place was great: nicely lit, spartan but attractive décor, and relatively quiet. A waiter immediately came to provide us with menus and give us the wine list. My three friends and I know next to nothing about wine so I cannot accurately critique their wine selection but the waiter helped us pick out a bottle that we all enjoyed immensely. They provide free«tapas» like snacks prior to the meal. I’d imagine this is seasonal but we were served bread with pieces of sweet potato drizzled in balsamic vinegar and bread covered in what appeared to be cream cheese, crushed pepper, and roasted red pepper. I don’t think any of us were too impressed by these small plates – but they were free so we didn’t complain. The star of Ravioli Wine Bar however is their incredible fresh ravioli. A friend and I ordered the pumpkin ravioli with butter, sage, and parmesan sauce. The ravioli were hearty and rich with great spice flavor. I really enjoyed my dish. Another friend got the basic cheese with red sauce. Honestly, they have such good basic ravioli, I would highly recommend that dish to anyone. And to save the best for last, our other friend ordered the mushroom ravioli in a funghi sauce. Oh. My. God. The best dish. Out of this world. They finish the night by providing complimentary cookies(delicious!) and giving you the check. The service was great, the pasta was delicious. Check out Ravioli Wine Bar for a fun night out. Good for date night or a night out with friends.

The service-amazing. The ravioli-the best! We had the carbonara, the spinach and Gorgonzola and the spicy shrimp. It was to die for, and everything was so much better then the next. We also had the clam and shrimp app and they gave us this delicious olive tapenade toast. The wine selection was wonderful and they gave us a dessert platter with homemade maraschino cherries and perfect cannoli. Go here immediately!

Overall, had a nice experience. However, I think they should have stuck with being called simply a Ravioli spot. Definitely worth the trip but wine selection and service need to be taken a step up. Perks: — Fabulous ravioli. I definitely recommend the spinach, gorgonzola with walnuts ravioli. — Complimentary bread and tapas service. — Friendly service. — Fresh CANNOLIS. Drawbacks: — Heat please! It’s winter. In a small place where the door is so near, you need the heat on! — If you are going to call yourself a «wine bar,» you need to have staff educated in the wine you serve not to mention a good selection wine. Surprised there wasn’t any Sangiovese or Montepulciano on the menu. I’m not a wine snob but come on! Side note: Had a primitivo that was at best«so-so» AND waitress had a blank stare when I simply asked what wines were medium to full bodied. This is not a complicated question.

Place is new to the Smith Street restaurant row. Been wanting to try it although I wondered if ravioli for dinner would be enough/too much of a good thing. Hubby and I had dinner there tonight. We started with an appetizer of calamari stuffed with purée of green beans on arugula, garnished with slices of roasted butternut squash and a drizzle of reduced balsamic vinegar. Wow! Then two ravioli dishes, one baked, both with killer sauces. Mine was baked with spinach, Gorgonzola and walnuts — a variation of canneloni. His was beef and mushrooms in a cream sauce. Of course, lots of cheese. Complimentary starters and a clever ravioli cookie dessert. Service was excellent, owner Denise comes over to make sure everything is perfect. Even introduced the chef Elvira to the next table. Restaurant is not completely finished — missing some decorative touches. Overall feeling is fresh, light and open, yet friendly and cozy. Small tables and a long bar along one wall. Definitely a place to discover and return to again and again. Place is a wine bar, too. We don’t drink but saw many others really enjoying the selections. Understand the plan to open a new room next door for large parties.

Opening night. The sense of anticipation from customers, owners and staff alike is tangible… But these guys nailed it. From start to finish, the food, service, and ambiance were superb to say the least. I’ve just returned from a wonderful dinner at the Ravioli Wine Bar and couldn’t wait to write this review. We were a group of 6 for dinner. They served us this amuse bouche of roasted vegetables(peppers, squash, potato, tomato, zucchini etc) with bread and it was already the STAR of my meal. We ordered pumpkin ravioli in sage butter sauce, eggplant/spinach/mushroom ravioli in tomato basil sauce, Mushroom Ravioli in creamy mushroom & cheese sauce, Ravioli Carbonara sauce, Lobster Ravioli and Ravioli in Squid ink sauce. We all tasted a bite of everyone’s Raviolis. They were all phenomenal. The menu is very vegetarian friendly as well. The owners were very personable. They came over to speak to us and to make sure we were having a wonderful experience. They sent over a huge plate of deserts and desert wine on the house. The deserts they sent over were tiramisu, beignets with Nutella and beignets with cannoli cream. They were fresh, homemade and not overwhelmingly sweet. I Absolutely will be returning to establishment! I wish them the best and loads of success!
