We arrived at this bar after several failed attempts to find a bar in which we could sit down. I’m not into sports bars, but I usually find good food when I end up in one. This was not the case sadly. We ordered drinks with a 75% success rate. One awful, three weak, but tasty. We were informed at arrival(11:45pm) the kitchen is about to close and let us order. I was craving cheese fries. What I was given were cheese fries in the sense that there were fries and cheese. Both cold and they had sprinkled cold cheese on top. I would have been embarrassed to hand that to someone. The server wasn’t very attentive and they called last call at 12:30am. The guy apologized for closing early, but maybe a heads up before we sat down would have been nice.

I like Union Grounds, it is a good spot on Smith St. that you can catch any game on the dozen TV’s. The place is a bit on the small side, but that is fine by me. The hotdogs are by far the best thing on the menu.

This is a true sports bar. Perfect for someone who is interested in watching a game, and chatting with other sports fans. Not too strong a bent for any particular teams though there are some house favorites. We’ve been treated very well by the staff — this is the place to beat for any night when there is a game on. Classic bar fare, done pretty well. Hot dogs = A+.

the place is pretty nice. I knew the owners vaguely from seeing them in the neighborhood so they invited me in the first month of opening. Had a great experience. Then I took my buddy along for the second experience. Not great. We go to places and we like to say we bring in good crowds. We also love to tip well! There was confusion with our bill, not only did they miscount our beverages, a few things were on the bill that we didn’t even order. Seems like they might’ve added someone else’s tab to ours. When we addressed it, the bartender(½ owner) would not budge. It seemed so weird. We were all getting along, laughing, joking up to that point. My friend and I were trying to be as nice about it as possible. It’s uncomfortable enough as it is to point out the mistake, but having the bartender dispute it was astonishing. I live one block away, and I saw myself going to this place very regularly, and perhaps inviting friends. We ended up paying the full amount, just to resolve the argument that was clearly going nowhere. I was a little embarrassed that I bragged about this place to my good friend only yo leave on such a shitty note. We were looking for the owners to do the right thing, and they failed. We decided to never return.

Stumbled on this place a couple of years ago & it continues to be a favorite. Decent sized sports bar with good food & crowd. The braised brisket minis are«official».

Decent beer selection, lots of tv’s. Food is okay at best. Only recommend for beer and a game, skip the food.

Can’t speak for the food but definitely a cool Brooklyn spot to watch sports. Bartender was great and real friendly atmosphere in the bar. Will definitely come back for some March Madness.

Great Sports Bar! All the U.S. Open games, baseball, great assortment — 11 TVs! Love the ballpark menu, even had veggie dogs! Interesting dipping sauces. Loved our waitress, warm welcoming smile and great beer suggestions. Good music selection, a bit loud, but hey it’s a Sports Bar. Play ball!

Fine, as long as you’re here to watch sports. If not, you’ve walked into the wrong place! A whole bunch of us got food and the only thumbs up any of it got was the hotdogs, so don’t go in expecting anything great there and you’ll be okay. Otherwise beer is decently priced and if you can grab a table sit down and enjoy the game.

Although their website hasn’t been updated they have a brand new menu that is absolutely out of this world. Worth a try are the new wraps(I had the buffalo chicken which was criminally good) and the Carolina Dog. They also have loaded fries which we didn’t get but looked good. Came in with a friend and had no problem getting a table but I know it gets busy for games. Server told us about the .50 wings too. Obviously I’ll be back(again).

The service is attentive and the cheesesteak egg rolls are the perfect drunchie snack! There are a ton of TVs and lots of places to sit, though it can get pretty crowded.

I went there on a Friday night to watch the Ranger game and catch up with some friends. I had a great time and the drink prices were very reasonable. ***When it came time to pay the tab I checked my pockets and realized I lost my money. I checked every pocket and thought I dropped it in the cab on the way there. The bartender saw me looking and he called me over and asked if I lost something. Without even thinking twice, he threw my $ 300 on the bar and I was in a loss for words. Thank you again Union Grounds and I commend you on hiring such a genuinely amazing bartender. I wish I knew his name to thank him personally. I am still speechless.***

All these 5 star reviews, really? I had plans to watch the Subway series Yankees-Mets game with my buds. Sure there are 11 TVs. This place was packed like sardines! No available tables, no sound and no room! This place is classified as a sports bar. Nah, Its a bar with a bunch of TVs and a few tables packed into a small space. Pass!

I love this sports bar. Great service, no matter if it’s one of the owners Tyler, or the wait staff, Wayne! You need to try the egg rolls and hot dogs! Any kind you get are going to be amazing! Overall, awesome bar for a go to at any time:)

I’d really like to see this place prosper. I went in today to watch the inaugural game for the NYCFC soccer team. Their set up is great. When you walk in, there’s a small table and two connected wooden bleachers, high up, but with a board to rest your feet on. On the right, three of those and a myriad of other tables towards the back. The main bar is compact with two televisions floating behind it in the far left-hand corner. No less than 11 TVs in the whole place, spanning the upper part of all walls. Their largest is in the right-hand corner with an appropriately patriotic USA soccer scarf. I think their decorations are spot on. A good mix of mostly soccer memorabilia and various sports news clippings. Their restroom is clean, large, and spacious with shorter articles, yellowed in age and sealed onto the middle band of tiles, an old time poster of Brooklyn transportation routes resting above it. You can tell that they’re trying to get bodies in there. The staff are incredibly nice and I might have even served by the owners today. If not, they acted like they truly cared about what people thought. I ordered some simple chili cheese fries, nothing to write home about, but their two bean chili was solid bar food. The price of course is about right for that corner of Carroll Gardens. That is to say, maybe not the best rate ever, but I think atmosphere and service cover a lot of ground. Blasting alt rock, the bartenders came out to also waiter the tables and offered free shots to those there supporting the newborn soccer club of New York. Not far at all from the Bergen F/G stop! As you walk back north towards the train, you can stare at the downtown Brooklyn skyline pondering that day’s win, loss, or tie(in today’s case, a tie to Orlando). I think it’s a great stop for sports fans. I’m really excited to go back again and bring some friends.

Found this spot across the street from Zombie bar. This is not a big place, be careful when you walk through the door as there might be people throwing darts. There are enough tables and TVs for everyone to see what they want to see. There are wall to wall TVs, more TVs than walls! Good beer, not too pricey, especially for this area. We ordered wings and a spicy chicken sandwich. The wings were big and juicy. They even let us split the wings into two sauces, hot and sweet/sour. The chicken sandwich was thin, however. The slice of chicken barely fit 2⁄3 of the bread and was paper thin. Too bad there wasn’t more chicken in the sandwich to go along with the sauce and bread, both of which went together perfectly. Maybe next time, they’ll be more food in there, if we came earlier than 10pm.

We really want to like this place, but it seems to be at the cusp of going downhill. First the positives: The bartenders and staff are genuine and nice. That’s a huge plus. The beer is reasonably priced, and if you’re a sports fan, the array of TVs are great. The food however, has taken a dive, and it seems to have coincided with an across the board price hike — which is as ironic as it is frustrating. The burger was overcooked and had an odd and unwelcome spice mixture. The spicy chicken sandwich was rubbery(not in an overcooked way, more in a microwaved kind of way) and the chicken part was so damn thin and small that it was dwarfed by the bread. I’m not expecting gourmet from this place, just don’t make me regret eating here. Given the markup on the food, they can afford to do better. Sadly the waffle chips that came with the meal were the highlight.

Nice place to grab a few beers and watch a game(any game — they have dozens of TVs). It’s never crowded when I go, which I love. Simple bar food and good beers.

Ok truly my new favorite sports bar in Brooklyn. I was hunting for a place to watch the Olympics when I saw this spot on Smith St. A chalkboard outside proudly announced, «Soccer! Olympics! FUN!!!» And fun it was. Beers are priced around $ 6 and if you get here early enough there are plenty of places to sit. How they serve food is beyond me – the kitchen was nowhere to be seen. But the suds options are good and great.
