My place for a good cappuccino or americano on the way to the office. Friendly staff and good service.

I came here to work and perhaps grab a bite to eat. They had decent coffee and nice atmosphere. I had my laptop and sat next to the sign that said not to use your laptop for more than half an hour, for about two hours, but no one said anything. The wifi was good until it randomly cut out and wouldn’t connect again. There didn’t seem to be any vegan options for food so I decided that was my sign to leave.

Super clean space. Free WIFI and outdoor and indoor seating. They serve some food as well, but all about the tea and espresso beverages. I had the caramel latte and it was perfectly mixed, not too hot, and not too creamy. My SO had the tea and they had loose tea. Great spot!

This place is so good. The Togores Cup is delicious(and healthy!) I love the Grassroots Bar. Great iced coffee.

I have a very nice coffee machine at home, yet I find myself here every morning and usually again in the afternoon. The coffee is outstanding(and strong). The pastries are delicious, and they range from the usual chocolate croissant to more creative concoctions like the various ooey gooey bars. If you’re getting a bagel, try the avocado spread. Yum! Although I get my goods to go, I do love the décor and would hang out here if I didn’t have an office down the block. The staff is super-friendly.

Terrifically friendly staff, lots of food options and even more drink options. They have both soy and almond milk for coffee! The root hill roast is a fabulous light roast with a smooth finish. Defintely delightful. The cashier gave me my breakfast for free to congratulate my fiancé and I on our upcoming wedding! How sweet!

All these reviews regarding the friendly staff really surprise me. That was not my experience at all. I came in this morning for an iced coffee … I’ve passed by Root Hill a few times, and have been meaning to stop in to try them out because the place looks rather cute. I go to the counter to place an order… maybe I was staring at the board a little too long, or maybe I was a little out of it because I hadn’t had my morning caffeine fix yet. The lady behind the counter starts waving at me with a look on her face that says, «Helloooo! Anybody home?» So I give her my order for an iced coffee, which by the way is $ 4.50(!), and continue to explore their menu. A minute later, she’s staring at me and asks, «Did you get your order? Let’s get you out of here then.» «LET’S GETYOUOUTOFHERETHEN!» Amazing. I myself am a small business owner in the area, and I can’t imagine being that curt to a paying customer from the neighborhood. We all talk, and if you piss off the wrong person, it can put your business in a lower tax bracket. I’ll never be back. And to top it all off, the coffee was not at all worth $ 4.50. It wasn’t any better than deli iced coffee.

I came here with a friend to study and the staff was REALLY nice and friendly. I loved that this place seemed to be a great little local spot. There was always a steady stream of people coming in on a Sunday afternoon. Unfortunately they closed at 6 p.m. like most places. I ate their cheddar chive biscuit and had their blood orange hibiscus tea, and a cup of their coffee… it was delicious! I will definitely come back here to study again!

Love this place! Upbeat music, great staff, plenty of seating, great natural light. The lunch selection isn’t huge — this is more of a spot for breakfast or a pastry or quick snack — but I had enough to eat. The chai is fantastic as is the«grassroots bar,» their homemade version of a granola bar.

As an Australian who has struggled to find a good coffee anywhere in America, I thought I had died and gone to heaven. I had given up on coffee a few days earlier but started to get withdrawal headaches. The staff were friendly and the barista has some neat coffee artwork skills.

Nice café! The coffee is good. They close pretty early on Saturdays though. I came here to unwind and caffeinate(yes, you can do those simultaneously… or at least I can) before hitting the ropes at Brooklyn Boulders nearby. My phone also got some juice — lots of outlets here.

I love the décor of this café! There are different options of seatings from stools to comfy seats on the wall. I love that the simplicity of the décor and it is very easy on the eyes that gives it a homely café feeling. I had the cappuccino and the lemon ginger cookie. I must say the combination was so enjoyable. My cappuccino came with a cute heart latte art. The taste was delightful just like how a cappuccino should be. The lemon ginger cookie was amazingly delicious! The cookie had the right amount of sour-sweetness with hints of ginger spice. Glazed lemon cream on top was a great addition to the cookie. It’s so soft on the inside and crunchy on the outside. It was a bit dry but that’s the point, you enjoy it with coffee! The café spot is a great spot to relax and reading a good book!

I drove by this café two weeks ago. Its exterior was very nice. I’m a sucker for cafes with huge windows. I love natural light. I finally stopped by earlier this week to get lunch and to work. The prices are very reasonable. The sandwiches are a bit strange. They are slender and about 1.5 inches to 2 inches in width and 5inches to 6 inches in length. Next time I visit, I’ll have lunch beforehand. The café is small but the space is used well and designed to optimize seating without inducing claustrophobia. There is free wifi though the network is a bit slow. There are outlets along the wall which is great. There is room for improvement but even so, I enjoyed my stay here. Got a lot of work done and can see myself becoming a regular here.

Close for renovations right now I believe, but I’ve always enjoyed my time here. Great place to get some work done, especially on weekends. Music tolerable enough that you don’t have to play your own with headphones. Get some work done here during the daylight hours, cross the street over to Mission Dolores for some evening fun.

Very cute and homey. It has a barn-like feel to it, without being overly mid-Western. I have been to Root Hill a handful of times and I find that it’s more suitable for a quick bite or your morning pick-me-up. I do not think it is conducive to studying because of the limited number of seats. There are two-seaters along the wall and a bigger communal table by the entrance, but there are no outlets and I haven’t seen a patron whip out a laptop yet. The prices are incredible, too. And the food is just amazing! They do not cheap at on the cream cheese on the bagels. Their yogurt parfaits include granolas of hefty sizes. Their blueberry muffins actually have, wait for it, pieces of blueberry and not just blue food dye! I haven’t tried their sandwiches yet, but something tells me that their sandwiches will be just as substantial and delicious as their breakfast items.
