OMG! one of my favorite places to have a nice meal with my kids and husband and also a nice cold beer, out door seating is great, awesome service and comfort food.

Nice old bar with a great burger. They serve them on a toasted English muffin. They have other sandwiches and stuff but that is my burger place. When I’m in the mood for one, I go there. It’s also very fairly priced.

I came here at the recommendation of a friend who grew up in Bay Ridge, and I’m glad I listened to her. Now, I try to stop for lunch at least once when I’m in town. It’s a nice cozy place, not too bright and not too dark, and the bartenders and servers are always friendly and eager to talk to me about plans while I’m visiting.
Skinflints is know for their burgers, which are served on English muffins Their rep is well-​deserved as they excellent. The fact that they’re served on English muffins works out well for me because I like my beef still mooing when I eat it, and this can get messy on a regular bun. The nooks and crannies of the muffin work really well at holding the whole messy goodness together.
I look forward to going back for my next burger on a muffin!

Highly disappointed with the service at Skinflints today. What should have been a 40 minute meal turned into almost 2 hours. Our waiter pretty much disappeared, and then when we finally got to place our order, I ordered my burger very well done. It came, and it was still pink inside. The fries weren’t even seasoned. Just disappointment after disappointment.
I used to visit this place quite frequently, and now I’ll ensure that I never return.

The hamburgers are amazing but the fine dining is extraordinary as well. I have not had anything from the menu that wasn’t well above average. The atmosphere is excellent as well. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is that the service is hit or miss. 1 day it’s 5 star service the next time, part of your food was forgotten and you can’t find your server for the duration of your partial meal. The food is just soooo darn amazing that i put up with the inconsistent service.

Whenever I ask neighborhood folks for a recommendation for a place to eat, they always mention Skinflints. These are people actually from the neighborhood, mind you.
So I headed over there one random weekday on a day off and sat down for a beer and a burger. The place has been around for 40+ years, so better late than never.
As the other reviews have mentioned, their burger’s claim to fame is that it’s served on an English muffin. I had the Swiss burger, which came with some really, really good fries. Loved the added texture that the English muffin provided, and the burger patty itself was thick and cooked perfectly medium rare.
The place itself is fun to look at. There were still Christmas lights up when I went in March, and the rest of the space has vintage trappings, like stain glassed windows, old lamps, and wood detailing on the walls. It’s like going back in time.
And yes, «Skinflints» sounds like the name of a strip club. Get over it.

Really should go to this place more often because every time someone suggests we hit it up, I’m excited. Food is great — I’m a bit of a picky eater and I’ve never been disappointed by anything I’ve ordered — go figure, they have great mixed vegetables (yes, I’m serious). Bar has a cool eery tavern feel, staff is great and did I mention the food is REALITY good?

I really like skinflints. The ambience is very nice, considering its a bar. The lights are dimmed and it has a nice feel. I’ve tried the potato skins, mozzarella sticks, and French onion soup. Last time I was there, I had the Shepherd’s pie and it was delicious. I’ve also had their burgers and they’re awesome. The service was great the last time I went. Overall, skinflints has great bar food and it’s definitely worth a try!

My friend suggested this place when I was in need of comfort food, it definitely hit the spot! I ordered the french onion soup; it is the definition of comfort food. It was delicious, comforting, and had a ridiculous amount of cheese on top! We also split a half portion of ribs and they just fell off the bones. Really glad I was introduced to this place because I’ll definitely be a regular.

ATMOSPHERE: Came here with my S. O and my parents, and it was the perfect spot for a family dinner. Cute bar in the front, woodsy feel inside with appropriately dimmed lighting that made for a warm ambiance. Restaurant seating in the back with 2 rooms, and white lights handing throughout the restaurant. Enough room among the tables for a private conversation without feeling cramped or overcrowded.
FOOD: I had the avocado salad and it was SUPER fresh and delicious. Had a vinegarette dressing which was a little creamy, tangy, and tasty. The other guests had chicken piccata, marsala, and francaise, and they all loved their plates. The server even accommodated any changes we had to our dishes and they came out perfectly and timely.
DRINKS: Beers were fresh and wine was a bit sweet for a cab, but still wasn’t bad.
OVERALL: Would definitely reco for a bar night, or a dinner with the family! Just depends on the day and time of your visit. I will definitely be returning.

If you’re trying to diet then don’t come here, the lower calorie options aren’t great. But if you’re not worrying too much about calories then this place has some great food. The French onion soup is yummy and comforting. The ribs are always consistently yummy. Also keep in mind that the half portion of the ribs are large enough and the full portion is completely unnecessary for one person. The mashed potatoes are also really good here, get extra gravy! The drinks here are also fairly cheap it’s like $ 3 for a beer and $ 5 for a large beer.

Came here awhile ago and wasn’t too impressed. People raved about these burgers and sadly I was very disappointed.
I would perhaps give them another shot in the near future.
My burger didn’t have much flavor.
Service was friendly however and beer was fresh and tasty.

Best cheddar burger in the world!
I have no idea what their cheddar is made out of (I actually asked, they said it is a mix of a few things but could not tell me the secret) but man is it delicious.
I had a friend say «it looks a little like cheese whiz.» Could not be more wrong. This cheese is amazingly delicious, salty, hearty and every other food drooly word in the world.
You won’t be disappointed in getting a chedder burger– I am partial to the bacon cheddar but the mushroom cheddar is fantastic as well.
Get it!

I always have and always will love skinflints, I personally think they definitely got the criteria for top 5 places in Bayridge for best bar type food. A group of 6 of us came by on a Sunday night around 830 after being out for the day in Bayridge. We waited a little bit for a table and than got one.
Out server was really nice and accommodating. She brought us waters and menus and didn’t rush us to order. I got the French onion soup and split the French dip with a side of chili cheese fries with someone. I didn’t eat the fries because I don’t like that type of stuff, but everyone else said they were good. Everyone liked their meals. They really do give very large portion sizes here and the price is right. I can’t wait to come back again.

Cool pub… its friendly all around staffs. I had heard some good news about their sandwiches so decided to pop in… lols. but its just your regular neighborhood pub with a twist of Really good sandwiches and strong pinot noir:)

I’ve been coming to Skinflints off and on for years. Every time I make it back to this place, I always say to myself «why don’t I come here more often?» This place screams Bay Ridge. It’s been around for what seems like forever.
I’ve had burgers, steaks, fish, and my favorite, the ribs! I’ve never once been disappointed. The ribs fall right off the bone and have a great taste to them. They’re prob the best Bay Ridge has to offer. They also have a full bar and they always have something new on tap.
The prices are really affordable and the service is good too.
If you live in Bay Ridge, you’ve probably been here. If you’re not from around here and you’re looking for some place to grab a beer and something to eat, look no further.

As a Bay Ridge resident I can cite this as being one of the true gems of an establishment in our neighborhood based on the comfortable setting, friendly staff and very tasty dishes. It is high time I got a Unilocal for this place after having been here dozens of times over the past couple of decades.
The other day I popped in with a buddy as a last minute but wise decision and were seated in a nice table right near the heat. The night was not too cold but it was still good to keep warm in my humble opinion. For those who have never been to Skinflints before, I guess the best way to describe the dining area is as «cozy». You are not cramped in on top of one another in most of the sections.
Drink wise it would be a round of Stella Artois beer for us both and our server was kind and very friendly but I blanked on her name at the time of this Unilocal so I must apologize. Since this was to be a quick visit, I went with their cheeseburger with bacon. They serve this with fries and on an English muffin. Mind you this is a sizable burger and super tasty. Silly me loaded up on the free bread though so I needed to halve my burger to bring home for the next day’s lunch. I believe my buddy had a turkey burger and perhaps I will try that next time. They sure do their burgers right here if you are a fan.
We had no desserts but a second beverage and then it was back home for the both of us. A really positive experience and one that shall be repeated again. For those using
to share their food, I did post my photos and thoughts about said food items. This is a high recommendation for sure.

I used to live closer to Skinflints many years ago, and hadn’t been back in a while.
Decided to try it out again recently, and was very pleasantly surprised.
They now have a more direct, and abbreviated lunch menu, that was just easy on the eyes. They’ve always been known for the burgers on an English muffin and their French Dip sandwiches, but today, I went for the more reasonably priced (8.95) Turkey club sandwich, which was really just perfect.
Waitstaff is friendly, and there was no wait. Comfortable dimly lit seating, and the furniture, probably could use an upgrade, but overall, this is a nice spot.
