We enjoyed our dinner very much trying various types of sushi. The restaurant is located next to several other good ones in a nice neighborhood.

I’ve gone to this place maybe 6 or 7 times since it opened many years ago. Meh is exactly the right word. We were stumped about what to have for dinner about a week ago so we decided to give it another shot. As an appetizer I ordered the pumpkin soup — somewhat of an easy staple in Japanese cuisine. The soup came with a big swirl of WHIPPEDCREAM on top. Actual, sweetened, whipped cream from a can. On soup. I think that was the final nail in the coffin for this place.

I was really disappointed in this place. Lately, I have been hearing a lot of good things about them. How they are the only decent, if not a little pricey sushi restaurant in the area. So I finally gave in, and ordered the roast duck Ramen and a few separate pieces of sashimi. Also everything tasted decent enough, and the fish itself seemed pretty fresh, I was pretty shocked to not only find a bone in my sashimi(not in the actual piece of fish, but some sort of random looking bone laid in between two different slices of fish), but a piece of hair as well. Long, straight hair. Definitely not my own. Not only am I finding items in my food that should not be there, but it wasn’t even all that for being so expensive. $ 30 for Ramen and three pieces of sashimi… No thank you

This place was a unexpected delight on my never-ending quest to find affordable sushi that won’t poison me. I’ve been here maybe 5 or 6 times now and the fish is always super fresh and the ramen is delicious. All the food comes out unbelievably quickly, so you can definitely be in and out in well under an hour, but I’ve also been here for 2 hours at a time at my longer(boozier) dinners with friends and they were fine with it. Tip: order literally any of specialty rolls and the duck ramen and check out their sake list!

The food was good. I would have given higher if I didn’t have to wait a hour for my sushi. They had it sitting in a to go bag and didn’t notice. Even though I was dining in.

As someone born and raised in Tokyo I can say w/at least limited authority that this place is pretty good. You can always tell good quality sushi places from the rest by the quality of the rice. Good rice is always washed and soaked before its cooked and you can tell Sushi D does this, meaning everything else is of a higher quality.

The service here was good and I love the fact that they use real brown rice. I wasn’t impressed with the shumai, it’s actually the worst I’ve had thus far.

The atmosphere is good and the food are good. Ive been to lots of sushi places over the world, but i think the food is definitely overpriced compared to the taste. It does not deserve $ 3 a piece of salmon sushi.

We had a great meal! Everyone working was super sweet and accommodating. We ordered the sashimi platter for 2 and split it between the 3 of us and were quite satisfied! The sashimi was thick cut and fresh. The sushi and spicy salmon roll was excellent too. A surprise favorite was the yellowtail roll with jalapeño and cilantro! The udon noodle soup was delicious and so was the miso. Seaweed salad was great too! Ended with tempura fried bananas, which were ok, but the overall dinner was wonderful.

I’ve passed this place many times, as my daughter goes to school in the area, but I’ve never gone in. I’m not a huge sushi fan. But a friend and I decided to check it out. I kept it simple and ordered the shrimp tempura roll and a miso soup. Very delicious. My friend ordered the same and was pleased. I loved the ambiance. The waiter was great. I didn’t give it 5 stars because I didn’t really order anything worth reviewing. I will be back if I ever get a craving for tempura again!

We have been eating at Sushi D for several years. We have always had great meals. The specials have been some of my favorite meals here. Definitely check those out. They come up with some interesting ideas. The sushi is consistently good. The fish is fresh. I have tried a variety of the rolls as well, and I have really enjoyed them. The appetizers are delicious. I have only tried a few of the meals, but they have been good as well. They have a good sake menu. The prices are good, definitely on point for the food. The service is reserved and minimal, but it is kind and it gets the job done. The atmosphere is lovely. The décor is simple, but it’s comfortable and it’s ever too loud. It’s a nice place to dine out. Bonus star for being the best consistent, quality Japanese restaurant in an area for years running

Middle of the road sushi. It does the job since there’s not much in the way of competition here. I’ve been here a few times. The most memorable dish that I’ve eaten here was the white tuna with jalapenos, if I recall correctly. It wasn’t bad. Friendly service, and they take credit.

Very good as always. Love the fusion rolls: delicious and it is only 13 $ ! I also tried the Nasu Yaki(sauteed japonese eggplant), very interesting flavor. Soft, sweet and spicy. And finally, one of my favorite: Tune Takati. Check it out !

I feel sorry for folks that live in this neighborhood and for whom this is the only sushi place nearby. Our food was okay, but the service was some kind of Twilight Zone alternate reality terrible. Our server was identified as «Jack» on the bill, so he’s the one I assume waited on us first. When he asked us if we were ready to order, I asked if there were any specials(noting the sandwich board sign out front that had a bunch of things listed that I didn’t see on the menu). His response: «The menu is right here in front of you.» He did that a couple of times until I gave up. I asked if they had cold ramen, which elicited a short and uninformed history of ramen for dummies. Yeah, I know what broth is, just answer my question. Weirdness aside, we ordered a table full of appetizers that were pretty decent. What happened next is what cemented this as one of the most off-putting dining experiences I’ve had. We were sitting outside with our twin infants(4 weeks), and a second server came up to at the end of the meal(had to hail him down since our original server went AWOL). I was calming my fussy boy with some light jiggling and bouncing — as you do with fussy newborns — when Server #2 came up to the table and told me I shouldn’t be shaking my baby. «You shouldn’t shake your baby. It’s dangerous for them.» Really? Thanks 25 year-old server. Your unsolicited and uninformed advice totally saved my baby’s life.

This place is OK. Not that great, but eatable. Oh and the workers are all Chinese. NOTJAPANESE. I know this because I’m a Japanese and lived in Japan my entire life, and came here to try the sushi some of my friends were saying it was the best sushi they’ve ever had. Which I don’t agree with. Go to little tokyo bet 9th and 4th ave in the city if you really want some real sushi which Japanese are accustomed to eating! My experience from yesterday was the breaking point that made us decide to not come back anymore. First of all, I’ve been here a couple of times because I just moved to the bk a couple of months ago and that’s the only sushi place I don’t feel like puking everytime I have my forst bite. OH and I’m a Japanese so I know what I’m talking about when it come to sushi. This place is not THAT great as people say it is. It’s just the only place that serves sushi which are eatable. The vegetable tempura taste just like in Japan, but the tempura ice cream? HELLLNO. just some dry tempura flakes in ur mouth with ice cream texture is a no no. The fact that they serve edamame’s for free is a plus, but I’ve seen some empty shells in there a couple of times. Finally, THESERVICEISMEH. It really depends on who you get, most of the guys are noce, but the short lady who’s always in a ponytail is not worth her $ 10 – 15 tip that she claimed to be when we gave her a five dollar tip which is what she deserved in the first place because there was mo customer other than us during the day and she didn’t light up a conversation or nothing. Everytime we come to eat, she seems like she doesn’t want us there. I feel this way since when I came here for the first time with my other ‘rich’ friends, they treated us like kings and queens but if ur not rich, that lady will not give a shit about you in any way. I know how to get a $ 10 – 15 tip since I’ve worked as a waitress before. Moreover, if ur opening up a japanese restaurant, know the japanese culture! We don’t have any tip requirements in Japan! NEVERGOINGBACKTHEREAGAIN!

I am so excited about this place! Makes me want to get back to Brooklyn faster! We got two appetizers and three rolls of sushi. — The Spicy eggplant appetizer was probably the best dish of the night. The eggplant was soft and tender but mot mushy. The flavor was amazing, and there was just a hint of heat. My mouth is still watering over the memory of eating it! — The braised short ribs appetizer was great too! Full of flavor and delicious! — The Naruto Roll was my sister’s favorite. The fatty white tuna was exactly what she was looking for. — The Sunshine roll and the Fusion roll were good. Nothing amazing but still we enjoyed both very much! — The tempura ice cream was OK. Just regular vanilla ice cream rolled in tempura flakes. They don’t have much in the dessert section. The service was fantastic we actually had two waiters looking up on us throughout the evening. One to take our order and make sure we were happy and the other to make sure we were getting all our dishes one after another and not at the same time — cause that’s how we requested it. AWESOME! The place is great for a quiet date night. The ambiance is low lighting and beautiful flowers all around the place. They have comfy booths as well as tables all around the place.

When a sushi place has the word«sushi» in its restaurant name, one can usually assume that the place is just average; and that’s exactly what Sushi D was — forgettable and the typical norm of «just ok». Upon walking in, the place totally smelt of a strong bleach; totally like a Clorox type. The place was clean and the décor was nice, but not enough to encourage me that my meal would be up to my standards. I started with a kani salad– pretty hard to mess up — it was fine, but a little too much cucumber instead of kani. Please don’t do this! I want a KANI salad; not CUCUMBER. Totally a pet peeve; all and all, it was my favorite part of the meal. Then for the main event I ordered a spicy tuna hand roll($ 5.50!) and it was very strange — it had powdered wasabi and panko flakes instead of the usual smooth spicy paste. It was dry and loaded with rice; not cool. I also bought a $ 9 Dragon roll that was again, mostly rice and the eel was pretty nonexistent. I’m not sure if there’s an eel shortage going on or what, but for $ 9, I was expecting a bit more«wow» factor than what I got. Ehhh… Sushi D was more like a C honestly…
