I’ve walked by a couple times and made my way this today. I was in the mood for coffee but ended up staying for breakfast. Everything is made to order and fresh. Well worth the wait and that wait wasn’t long. Atmosphere is relaxing and perfect for enjoying some creative time. The staff was very attentive and nice. I expect to come by more often as you should! Also I highly recommend the lemonade!

Amazing food, drinks and staff! The wonderful ladies at the Joint catered my baby shower and everything was incredible! Aside from catering I come here often for coffee and food which is always delicious, and Taryn has even accommodated my strange pregnancy requests, making me custom drinks with less caffeine. Very comfortable and always an enjoyable café experience!

Decent sandwich… but the service is seriously lacking… ordered coffees but the server was so busy chatting with his friends that he completely forgot to make them… just judging off this one visit if this is the standard level of service this place will not make it!

Got a delicious latte from there and a cheddar biscuit that I didn’t like but my friend loved. Wish this place had more little bit options like pastries or bagel. Everything on the menu looked delicious though and the staff was super nice

Stopped in again and it seems like they are aware of the reviews because they asked twice if I wanted water while I waited for my sandwich. One of them, presumably the owner or a manager saw me look up from my phone at some point and told me «your sandwich should be ready soon». I was only checking out the lighting fixtures. It was fine until she went in the kitchen and told the woman making the sandwich«some people think this is McDonald’s fast food» and continued to complain loudly about a customer yesterday who felt like the service was slow, but that«they should expect that when the food is fresh». Got a sense of hostility there… Please Joint, get some better lighting… Doesn’t have to be fancy Edison lamps, just brighter and less depressing. And there’s no excuse for painfully slow bagel preparation(which is what happened to me in the past). Hopefully things are getting better since I didn’t have problems with my order. But not all there yet…

This joint is NOT jumping, which makes it the perfect cozy hangout where the servers smile and make you feel warm and stimulated by coffee and conversation and not excess noise. The garden out back and the wifi is conducive to chilling while working and you can have a conversation without the smirking guy on the laptop give you disapproving looks:) Thanks guys!

The food was delicious, the coffee, so-so. It has fast wifi and is a great place to work or study.

Great spot, A+ — I had a Greek Salad and an apple cider. It was delicious, I will definitely return. The music is fantastic and there are plenty of good tables & comfortable chairs to work or chat w/friends.

I’m usually easy to please, but the three times I’ve visited The Joint it woefully disappointed in almost every aspect. I strongly suggest not wasting your time at this place because there are several much better options in the immediate area. Put simply, The Joint doesn’t have its act together. Its like it’s run by someone with about as much business acumen as a 10– year old running a lemonade stand. My last visit to the ‘The Joint’ was on a Sunday at noon when I noticed that its menu board advertised«Breakfast» and Wi-Fi, which was precisely the combination I sought. The many negatives about my last visit to The Joint.: The attendants are uninformed and act like they are lost and bewildered. My first coffee was cold, and not by purpose. The second coffee was lukewarm even after I told the aloof attendant about the first one. I’m not a coffee snob by any stretch, I’m happy with any average coffee as long as it’s hot. The Joint did not have orange juice or any other type of juice that is commonly served with breakfast. What’s even more pathetic is that the staff had to verify if they had juice. Remember; this was Sunday afternoon and the menu board clearly advertised for BREAKFAST. The attendant said they only make fried eggs by special request because the kitchen is not equipped for it. She said it would take 15 minutes to prepare the eggs because the kitchen only has a couple small burners, not a full sized grill. Note, there was only 2 other customers who had already been served. The Joint’s service model is confusing. It’s hard to tell if they provide table service, or if you have to order at the counter. The staff seemed confused about it, too. The breakfast I ordered, when it finally arrived, was just OK in quality. The Joint’s Wi-Fi did not work. On the positive side: The seating area is quiet and there is plenty of available tables to stretch out and use your laptop. Evidently, not too many people frequent The Joint, likely because they have similar complaints as me.

I really want to like this place. It’s a block from my place, and I could come here everyday. I’ve been here a number of times now, and all I have to say is, meh, it’s a work in progress. The coffee is decidedly mediocre. I don’t want to be a coffee snob, but in 2013, when pretty much anyone can brew fantastic coffee at home by picking up some decent beans, boiling water, and tossing it in a french press, coffee places should be serving outrageously good coffee to stay afloat. If I didn’t need to come here to hang out and talk with people, I’d probably never drink the coffee. It doesn’t hold a candle to WTF a few blocks away. And while the vibe is generally cool, I’ve been there a couple times now that THEMUSICISSO F*INGLOUDTHAT I FEELLIKE I’M SUPPOSEDTOBEJUMPINGAROUNDAT A DANCEPARTYORDOINGMATT-WORK!!! Can you please turn it down a bit? I told the woman behind the counter that I wanted a large coffee. She said, «What?» Seriously. Is playing Destiny’s Child at 110 decibels an unsubtle way to get the people working on laptops to leave more quickly? You do understand that you’re running a coffeeshop, right, and that’s basically what people do at coffeeshops? ie., rather than dance or do matt-work? Finally, I don’t mean to get all anti-ecological, but it was like 90* the other day, and there was no a/c. No breeze either. My friend and I were literally pouring sweat the entire time. It was not terribly comforting. If you want to use fans, fine, but you can’t just keep the place a sauna. Especially with mediocre coffee.

First time here, and here are my first impressions: — quiet; — excellent music(the Northern Soul kind); — very very large and delicious«Dream» grilled cheese; — totally fixated on their teapots that hold three cups of water and don’t drip all over; — good wifi. So far so great, may turn into a regular.

I’ve edited my review after coming here many more times… === I think The Joint finally requires a review. On Myrtle, it’s one of the ONLY coffee shops that’s open(close by my place). The only other place that’s open early is Connecticut Muffin, and it’s not the same vibe, plus their wicker chairs make my back hurt. The joint opened at a good time b/c Pillow Café completely changed and is way more restaurant-like, whereas before you’d see a ton of folks with laptops. They don’t even offer outlets anymore. The other spot I liked — Carriage(with the red exterior) is now a hookah bar and doesn’t open until way late. When I first came here, the food was not very good and I was majorly disappointed. They also opened at different times, so I was confused, as I had lugged my laptop there many a morning on the weekend to find out they were closed. I still can’t figure out what time they open, as I’ve been there at 8am, 9am and 10am — sometimes they’re open, other times they’re not. I ordered a breakfast w/eggs and coffee — I think it was only $ 7 or something ridiculous like that. I also ordered the tuna sandwich and it was decent. Prices are reasonable, but in my opinion, I don’t think the coffee is that great(sorry!), especially for $ 3.75 for an iced-coffee. I still prefer Pillow Café’s food and coffee, but since The Joint opens earlier, I sometimes come here by default. Sometimes, the Internet is spotty, which is a huge bummer because I come here to do work. They’re nice enough to restart it, and it usually works. Another thing I don’t like is the loud music. It’s a tad too loud for a coffee shop, and if I really don’t like the music I’m forced to put on my headphones. Another time, I came here during the July heatwave and they didn’t bother turning on the AC, they just had the doors open… and the place was like a sauna. ;-/

I live right by this place and have stopped by a couple times. The first time I was visiting apartments on an extremely windy day and was desperate to hunker down anywhere that was warm. I stumbled in here and got a coffee and then the black bean soup with avocado salsa. The soup was fantastic and the guy offered me some kind of special hot sauce for it(from Mexico I think?) that was also really good. Coffee was great too. I’ve stopped by a couple of times since moving here and the coffee is great and it seems like a great place to hang out for awhile either with friends or laptop. There seems to be a steady stream of people in and out but there are always tables available.

This is a review in progress. I live right around the corner from this café. It recently opened. My first visit could have been disappointing but the manager was very accommodating to my needs. I’m lactose intolerant and can’t drink regular milk. I’m also allergic to soy. Which is all they had during my first visit, when I told her of my problem, she actually asked me what kind of milk substitute do I drink. So I told her almond or coconut milk. She sent her barista to go get it so that I could have my chai latte. Even though it took some time to get my drink. I truly appreciated the fact that she catered to my needs. It shows that they are an establishment that want to serve their customers. I like the atmosphere of The Joint, its a great place for studying or getting work done. The music is a little loud, but enjoyable ie. the Beattles. I like coming in early to get a seat because like I said, it’s a great place to study and get work done, many are either on their laptops writing, or reading a book. Not too much foot traffic to disrupt you which is great if you need to focus. If you plan on staying for a couple of hours or more, you are able to start a tab. That’s what I do most of the time. Today I ordered a sandwiched and asked if they had multigrain bread and the barista said they didn’t but could go get some for me. Again with the special service, I love it. So why did I just give them an A-OK. I think The joint will definitely get to a 5 star, especially since they are very open to feedback and suggestions. Here are my suggestions: 1. Continuous training for baristas. Tanya(the owner) is great at making drinks, so that there’s a consistency with how drinks are made, the other baristas need more training. 2. Food tastings with customer evaluations/feedback 3. Vegan, Veggie Friendly, Gluten Free Options would be awesome!!! If the ratings were up to me I would say: 5 Stars on Customer Service 5 Stars on Ambiance, Cleanliness, and Décor 3 on Food and drinks– I havent tried everything yet. I’m definitely coming back though. Tanya and her team are super sweet. Where else can I find service like theirs? To be continued on my next visit…

This place was OK. Not bad. Not good. Now mind you I’ve been to a lot of cafes. I love cafes. My job has me traveling all over the city and it’s great to pop in for a drink and a sandwich or a snack. The Joint is nice and roomy and has a lot of seats. But they are all just kind of plain wooden chairs, tables, and stools. Nothing really stands out about the decore or the interior. The menu is pretty small. There’s a few sandwiches and the standard latte, cappuccino, etc. café menu. It would be nicer if they had some specialty drinks. The main reason for 3 though, is that I really didn’t like my sandwich. It was very plain and the bread it came on was a white roll, like the kind you buy in a plastic bag at a grocery store. Very clearly not bakery bread. It just seemed very simple and blah for the price. The apple cider was good though, so it made up for the blah sandwich. Kinda.

Really great spot. The Joint is a quaint little bistro that has espresso, pastries, coffee, sandwiches and seasonal soups and offers free wifi. I’ve had their Mozzarella Panini as well as their Dreamy Grilled Cheese and I can’t decided which I like better but they are both damn good. On top of the food being delicious it also really affordable. Nothing on the menu is over $ 9. Their sandwiches are served with really tasty chips(onion garlic flavor i think) a pickle and cole slaw, so you get some bang for your buck. The atmosphere is real lax as well with great tunes and nice lighting. When I first walked in they were playing the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and now it’s a motown shindig in here. I love it.

This is what I have been waiting for on Myrtle Ave! The Joint is a large café with coffee, tea, cider, muffins, pastries, and flatbreads. A small menu boasts homemade soup and gourmet sandwiches(with words like black-eyed pea, fennel, tuna, havarti…) homemade by Superfine’s(in DUMBO) chef/owner and partner. They serve Tucan Coffee and Amy’s Bread. The atmosphere has an edge but is friendly and open with exposed brick, nice lighting, and a garden out back. Additionally, the owner beautifully made the bar, chairs, tables, and stools. The goal here is to have a place to ‘late-night’ besides the bodegas and Liberty Pizza… hurray! and *bonus* beer and wine is soon to come! Check it out and welcome them to the block, y’all. Nerd Notes: For those of you with 2006 MacBooks lacking batteries… I only noticed 2 outlets.
