My besties and I visited the lovely establishment last Sunday after first heading to SoCo and being greeted with their hour long wait. We were pleasantly surprised! The staff was awesome and the food was simply amazing! There were so many options we didn’t know what to choose. We clearly means we’ll be back soon. I had the chipotle chicken omelette it was so tasty and the cheese grits were EVERYTHING! Did I mention the drinks? I had the hard apple cider and my friends had the weekend something or other and they all were tasty. The only drawback is that it’s Cash only but there is an ATM on site. Keep up the good work Pillow Café!

The first time I ate here I said I’m never coming back because of the service. But I have to admit, once I ate the food I could not resist. I’ve probably visited a total of 10 times and even became friendly with the staff. But enough is enough, I’m not choosing delicious food over service anymore! The final straw was today. I ordered the Southern Breakfast and a side of grits. The waiter, who has served me on several occasions and knows me by name, said that the grits were not ready. I asked him how long and he said I’d have to wait about 15⁄20 minutes. I was not in a rush and was really in the mood for grits so I told him that I’d wait. 30 minutes later my food came out but they forgot to bring my side of grits. I flagged down the host because the waiter was no where to be found. He said that he would go check. The waiter came to the table I told him that I did not get my grits and now the rest of my food was getting cold. He never apologized, he just said ok and walked away. 5 minutes later the host brought over the grits and asked if I needed anything else. I ordered another drink and suggested it be on the house because of the wait. The waiter came over clearly annoyed and I actually had to explain to him why I felt they should comp my drink. He agreed to take it off the check. Still no apology for forgetting my grits and making me wait. I’ve always felt, since my first visit, that the staff acts like they are doing you a favor. They have this take it or leave it attitude. They are not accommodating and refuse to suck up. They desperately need customer service training 101. Trying to accommodate your customers is not sucking up and I will no longer support this behavior. There was 3 of us and our bill came to $ 80 for Brunch. I don’t mind paying that much for Brunch if the service good but to pay that much and they act like I’m doing them a favor, NOWAY! Goodbye forever Pillow Café, there are so many other restaurants in Brooklyn to choose from…

The food was amazing, and the service impeccable. The host happened to speak French and was from Belgium, which I appreciate. My wife and I will be back… SOON.

The Pillow Café is the perfect place for breakfast/lunch in the area. It’s super urban and the workers are really sweet. And the environment is at a dull roar with a good energy but conducive to talking or conducting business. I always get their breakfast, but their sandwiches and quesadillas are good too. Their basic scrambler with grits is my favorite. But their turkey chili during the cold seasons is absolutely lovely. Their drinks are always delicious and super duper fresh. My favorites are their chai smoothies, hot chocolate and ginger tea. Ginger tea especially if you’re fighting a bug! My only small complaints are that it can get pricy very quickly without you knowing it and you can only use cash. Sometimes service is super slow but the food always comes out fresh so I’m usually content. Just don’t go hungry ;) I always come here for business occasions and outings. Mainly because this place is the slice of Brooklyn most people are looking for.

Pillow has spoiled me for breakfast, lunch, and brunch time and time again. Excellent coffee, tasty Bloody Marys that pack a punch, 2-for-one mimos with fresh-squeezed juices, eggs cooked perfectly with sauces and sides made with love; no place compares!

I’ve been here twice for brunch and both times they ran out of an item on the menu. I can understand the 3p late brunch but not at 12p. After changing my order the grits were cold and the eggs fried hard not medium. This a timing issue of the grits being plated with the original order… come on, really! However, the reason I am reducing it to 3 stars is because of service. Some of the staff are unprofessional and have been rude and dismissive to me and other customers. I would frequent it more but they act like they are doing me a favor to serve me… huh?! They certainly can use some training in customer service or a manager that canc coach them on appropriate behavior in a customer facing role. It’s a shame as given the size of their cooking space they crank out good food. It’ll be a while before I get back.

Love this place. I live in the neighborhood and went to get brunch and brought my computer to work while I was eating. The back door to the patio was open and it was such a pleasant atmosphere. The gentleman who waited on me was very friendly. I had the bacon burrito and it was delicious. Also, when my parents were in town they went there to get coffee and ended up staying to eat breakfast. When they came back to my apartment they were raving about the music, the coffee and the food! Thanks for being so friendly and down to earth Pillow Café! Exactly the way to do it. Highly recommend.

It was a Saturday afternoon. The Afro Punk festival was in full swing. I was meeting a few friends from out of town at «Pillow». It looked like a nice place, so I informed my friends to meet me there. As I sat at bar, a lady by the name of «Robin», asked me if I was ready to order. I informed her I am waiting for my friends, who are coming over from«Afro Punk», first. At that point, she RUDELY and abruptly snatched the glass of water OUTOFMYHANDAS I WASDRINKINGIT! I was astonished! I have NEVER had such a rude encounter in my life! I abruptly left the establishment without further incident.

Delicious iced coffee /cold brew. Huge cup full for $ 4. Hummus and Avocado wrap for $ 10. With tax and tip it was a bit expensive for a casual lunch but it was also nice to sit and relax for a bit. I’m weary of the pillow concept(really, I’d prefer to not be sitting against the same porous fabrics as the rest of New York — can I get a fresh pillow case and some Febreeze please…) but among the Myrtle Street options it’s a solid pick for a sit-down lunch.

Stopped in for happy hour, they had $ 6 frozen margaritas we had 2 a piece. When we entered the place smelled amazing and sweet, they bartender told us it was the waffles they make all day. My son had the waffles and eggs and said they where delicious. I will come again because it’s close in the neighborhood and they give good deals.

Pillow Café is the go-to neighborhood brunch spot. The food here is fresh, creative and delicious. Yummy frozen margaritas and mimosas with plenty of flavor options. Friendly staff, although the service is sometimes pretty slow. Worth the wait though, especially for the lovely backyard.

The brunch was pretty good for the area. Inexpensive, yet tasty. I’d definitely recommend if you’re the area. We spotted a celebrity here too :)

I have found one of my favorite chai lattes in the neighborhood! It was so creamy and good… Although I did not get to eat here, I was sitting at the bar and watching all the food being made– everything looks healthy and delicious.

Decided to come here for a Sunday brunch after Soco’s long wait and was definitely not disappointed! Was seated right away at the cozy table by the window. Service was extremely slow but i am sure it is because it was understaffed and completely full of hungry patrons! For 3 people, we had avocado smash, and their two specials of the day, omelet with chorizo, peppers and cheese w/homefries and omelet of shiitake mushroom, brie and baby kale. We also shared the bacon and cheddar waffle. The entrees took about 30mins to come but it was definitely worth the wait. My friends and I basically inhaled everything in 10 mins. I will come back just for the food. but the wait for food needs huge improvement. Dont come if you are in a rush or not willing to wait.

Came to this place with a friend who goes to Pratt, which is right across this restaurant. She always raves about how delicious this place is so I was really excited to finally give it a try. We came around noon on a Wednesday. The place is quite cozy with a little bar and if you sit at the bar you can see them making the food. The place is filled with cushions and features cool local art pieces. We were seated immediately. It was pretty empty, there were only two other parties there. A lady with curly red hair brought was water. About 5 minutes later she came back and we ordered some food, huevos verde and the chipotle chicken omelette, and two coffees, americano and a pumpkin latte. The drinks were made by the same lady and they turned out pretty good. The americano was a little too bold but the latte was perfect– sweet but not too sweet. This is when the service went downhill… We waited about 30mins for our food to come out and while it did look like they had a new cook, the food just took way too long. The more experienced looking cook looked like she did not care one bit if we got our food on time or not. You can see the kitchen from our table and there were no other order before ours. People that were in the restaurant had already ordered and there was only one other order after ours. The lady who ordered after us ordered a salad but it took so long that she told them to give it to her to-go. When our food finally came out, our little salad was soggy from being drenched in dressing and our potatoes were hard as rocks. Even my friend who loves this place so much was disappointed. Then, one of the guy waiters took our ketchup that we were still using and gave it to the table next to us… People working there seem really nice and great… Don’t know if we’ll be back but I wish they were a little more considerate next time.

Came in one afternoon. They were not too busy. They had Bonnie Raitt playing. I was won over. Love that they have so many tropical flavor choices for their margarita. Only negative is if you sit by the bar you will leave smelling like whatever fried bacon they are making. Sit outside or at tables if this matters. This is a brunch spot. Mostly salad and sandwich options. Think upgraded southern diner. Go out back and sip on sweet tea with a croissant while forgetting you are in Brooklyn. For a bit.

One of many cafes on Brooklyn’s Myrtle avenue near Pratt. Several details help set Pillows apart from the others. 1. Pillows! There are pillows everywhere! 2. Outdoor seating area in the back. Features a few tables and a nice garden for an alfresco lunch/coffee. 3. They whip up a mean peanut butter smoothie. I definately want to check out some of their sandwiches and salads in the future.

I like this charmer. It is not a fancy place by any means, but the food and service(especially service) been top notch, always. They greet you with a smile, and check how you doing, genuinely. Fix you perfect cup if coffee when you waiting for friend at the bar. Find you good table to enjoy your food, chat and listen to great music. You feel home here.(And those pillows are darn comfy!) Fluffy omelette(goat cheese & spinach — so good!), great quesadillas(check out daily specials!), and the best panini(brie and fig panino was to die for!). Drinks menu is pretty good, too, check it out!(Happy hour daily 4 – 7.) Great for brunch, lunch, or after-work eats. Cash only(who cares)
