Of what a difference fellow diners can make. Tonight Verde(whose food and service we have adored for many years) was packed with a hideous group of hags and harridans who were completely oblivious to other diners and who screamed at each other at the top of their aged lungs non-stop during the 2 hours or so we were there. Not content to scream at each other, they took endless pictures of themselves using cameras and flash lights that lit up the heavens and resulted in short-term blindness for virtually every other patron. The waiters were monopolized by the group whose endless demands radically reduced the ability of staff to respond to other patrons. It was like I imagine dining with 30 Donald Trumps would be — horrible. Moral of story? Call ahead and find out whether this group of hags and harridans — or some equally obnoxious set of loud-mouths — will overlap with your«dining experience.» If so, stock up on ear plugs(or maybe chain saws) to help you endure an evening with this or some similarly self-important, selfish, and staggeringly obnoxious group of people. Even excellent food can be deconstructed before your very eyes by such a group of the self-absorbed. Dean

Great !!! They have a great brunch. The food is great and the portions are great. I prefer their brunch over dinner. Don’t get me wrong their dinner is amazing but their lunch takes the cake

Steak and Eggs w/Rosemary Potatoes. I’ve been there multiple times, I keep thinking I’m going to get something new, but now. I get Steak and Eggs. Why? It’s fucking delicious. Brunch drinks are a bit on the strong side for me, anything over two is knocking on day drunk territory but I’m a light weight unless there is rum involved. Good Service. Great food. There’s isn’t anything to complain about.

Had brunch with two friends at Verde and we absolutely loved it. The food was excellent, prepared exactly to our specifications. Their unlimited drinks brunch was well worth the price. We had so much fun catching up, the ambiance was perfect. Our server was very attentive and amicable. We really enjoyed our time there and will definitely be going back.

Went to Verde on Smith for a brunch on Easter. I had the the steak and it was amazing. My girlfriend had two eggs and fruit. The bottomless brunch was perfect with my medium steak. As soon as we walked in we were seated. What more could I ask for. I would definitely recommend this place and I’m going back to explore the dinner menu.

The prices have gone up to a point where while yes, the food is good, it’s not worth going there without a discount or gift certificate anymore, sadly. Their wine markup is absolutely ridiculous.

The Owner Of This Restaurant Is A Racist!!! On several occasions my husband and I have been seated at the very back of this restaurant the table right next to the kitchen. On our most recent visit I told my my husband to inform the owner that we didn’t want that same seat next to kitchen unto which he told him its either there or outside. More than that he walked away from us and disregarded us and then spat out I’m sorry. I really enjoyed the food that I’d recommend but I will never patronize Verde again.

Overall experience was Good. The staff was friendly, helpful and hospitable. The food selections were tough but my choice of the ceasar salad and shrimp cocktail were very good. My friends chose the rigatoni and enjoyed it as well. Although a bit pricey having the dining certificate helped because it offset the total cost of the meal. I might consider coming back for restaurant month.

Brunch! Brunch! What would life be like without brunch? I don’t want to know. Verde hit it spot on with the unlimited mimosas/bellinis and some fabulous brunch options. By far the pancakes were my favourite. They were small, fluffy and had a nice outter crisp. The omelets were fresh and tasty, with a nice amount of veggies and cheese added. My only setback with giving Verde a 5* was our waitress. She was extremely obnoxious and rude(Maybe bad day?) because we were being our usual friendly selves and she kept trying to ruin our moods. I am definitely a fan of the food and hopefully manage to score a less grouchy waitress next time.

I came here recently for an after work dinner with a few friends on a Thursday. When we arrived the place was empty aside from the 2 people at the bar, 1 of which was my friend. We were seated promptly and given menus. I started my meal with a glass of delicious Moscato D’asti. The menu was pretty straight forward, with a few familiar items. I ordered the crispy Gnocchi with sausage and broccoli rabe. It didn’t taste bad but I wish I would’ve ordered something else. The gnocchi was soggy after sitting in the garlic-oil sauce and some pieces were over-cooked. The broccoli rabe although bitter, was a good accompaniment. After a few bites, I was tired of the meal and packed it to go; it tasted better after I reheated it days later. One of my friends had the salmon with couscous and complained that the couscous was salty. I tasted the salmon and it was good. Another friend had the shrimp and scallops with pasta and she loved it. The service was ok, nothing spectacular or memorable. The staff was patient and served us anytime we requested it. Overall, I would return but only for the brunch, as it seems to have a greater rapport with Unilocalers.

We came here on a Saturday for my friend’s birthday brunch before heading over to Royal Palm’s for shuffle boarding. Naturally we all opted for unlimited brunch cocktails for two hours. I thoroughly enjoyed my bloody marry’s and enjoyed the prompt service even more. Before I was halfway through a drink the waiters were already asking if I was ready for my next bloody marry. At $ 17/person for drinks plus your entrée at ~$ 13, it felt a little pricey for a Brooklyn neighborhood restaurant. Food was decent, good of used a touch of hot sauce or salt on the mushroom omelette. Portion sizes felt like they were a little on the light side(everyone was given only 3 potato wedges).

A group of 3 of us came here on Sunday around 1pm for brunch. We didn’t have a reservation, but were able to be seated right away even though they were busy. Two of us did the bottomless 2 hour brunch for a set price of $ 15 per person for bottomless mimosas or bellinis. They are not cheap with the refills at all, any time you ask they will bring another one in a decent amount of time, which is always a plus at brunch! There brunch menu has a large selection of different options. I went with the salad with grilled chicken and the two other people I was with got the steak sandwich and the Kobe beef burger. We all really enjoyed our food. The restaurant can accommodate all different groups, they had a large birthday seated as well as groups of two just out to eat. The service was good and all the staff was very friendly, I’ll be back for sure, possibly for dinner next time.

Nice place depending on the color of your skin. food was decent and unlimited drinks were good, and our waitress and waitress we had serving us did a great job. Unfortunately the owner is extremely racist and does not try to hide it. We had a large group and even though we had reservations and the table was already set up for us when he saw our group was predominantly black he offered for us to sit outside. It was freezing and he mentioned he had a couple of heat lamps but still said we would be cold as it wasn’t sufficient for our group. I wouldn’t recommend this venue to anyone of color, don’t spend your money at this venue the owner doesn’t respect or value your business. If you don’t believe me check it out yourself and see how differently the owner will treat you and look you in disgust!

As a born and bred brooklyn gal, I;m ashamed to admit I just tried Verde on Smith for the first time tonight. Where have you been all my life Verde? My Mother in law gave us a fantastic coupon for my wife and I to use. I;m sure glad she did. Beautiful ambience, attentive service and best of all the most brilliant IPOD play list ever. all my favorites were jammin at a nice volume level all night. Ellie Goulding, Tori Amos, Sarah Mclachlan, 10.000 Maniacs. I could have sat there all night just listening to the music. Now for the food. I was in heaven. We shared a strawberry/ricotta salad that was the perfect blend and portion size. I had the delicious Lobster feast for a reasonable $ 30.00 I got ½ lobster, baked clams, shrimp, garlic bred and corn on the cob. the only thing I didn’t finish on my plate was the spring of parsley. Simply the best baked clams I;ve ever had and baked clams are my christmas eve specialty. I;m pretty fussy when I order these out. They were perfectly seasoned and cooked. The lobster was a nice size and sweet. The shrimp simply divine. I could go on a and on. My wife had the chicken marsala and cannot stop raving about it. Cooked to perfection and again. the marsala sauce was better than mine. I guess i can stop cooking and just eat at verde from now on…

I’d give this place a 3.5 — good positive experience but not my favorite. Verde on Smith serves Italian/Seafood cuisine. My dinner party of 4 arrived at 6:15pm on a Saturday night. The service was a little slow but it was nice not to feel rushed out of the restaurant. They have an awesome cocktail and wine list but a pretty lousy beer menu. I was surprised to find a restaurant in BK that doesn’t serve multiple craft beers — only Peroni, Stella, Hoegarden, and BK Brew. Here’s what we ordered: Appetizers: Baked Clams — Exactly as expected. Delicious. Seafood Salad — Not a fan of cold seafood dishes. The squid was mediocre. Portobello Mushroom w/Feta — Amazing. The portobello mushroom was sliced and had an amazing meaty texture. Dinner: Lamb Shank — Not too big, not too small. Comes with steak like fries and some sautéed spinach.

Service is great. Food is good and large in portions. Venue is lovely with plenty of seating(plus outdoor seating). I’ve been here several times and this place always has good pasta, panini, salads… everything.

Smith Street use to have a wide variety of unlimited brunches available. Now that it is starting to dwindle, you can still rely on Verde. The first time I had ever been here was a three star affair. I sat inside toward the back of the room. While the food was very good, the service was somewhat lacking for drinks. I have found that if i plan to come to boozy brunch, I simply cannot rely on the single woman who appears to be the only server for the entire floor. I have since rectified this by going straight to the source. I prefer to come to Verde in a pair. With only two people, you can easily sit at the counter. I strongly suggest this. The bartender is amazing. She is prompt and courteous with drinks and food. She is willing to have little conversations about what you may want to try or sample for drinks. I am a big fan of the raspberry bellini. Less acidic than mimosas and they are a dreammmmm. She is also willing to mix little concoctions like raspberry/mango if you’re lucky. Now the food is reliably good(at least for Brunch). I normally get steak and eggs or the burger. I recently tried the steak sandwich and really enjoyed it. I love their roasted potatoes but alas, you generally receive only three of the delicious spears so if you’d like more, order a side to split(as we normally do… we are fatties… I mean foodies). The portions for the main entrée are fairly large, usually with a side salad. While I very much enjoy the backyard, the service will be slower as I said earlier. If you are just coming in for a lazy brunch with relaxed friends and you DON’T care about getting day hammered, then you will like it. They have large umbrellas, many tables and usually, I am able to sit in the shade(although my table mates usually must sit in the sun for this to happen). In the summer, there will be a wait for tables in the back. I usually arrive later in the afternoon and I get my preferred bar seating with no issues. While opting for the bar, I think you will find that Verde is a 4-star joint. If you are looking for Sunday brunch with the family, you may believe that table service is perfectly acceptable. Either way, with Smith street’s unlimited dropping off this plane of existence, Verde is a completely reliable place to go.
